This game is the best simulation out for Playstation 2. You get to act as a real trucker. You get to carry cargo and load it and unload it. I recommend this game to anybody who loves simulations.
This game is so cool!

I've only played 18 Wheeler in an arcade, with the big steering wheel, and the wide screen, and I have to say its one of the best games I've ever played. Its like Flight Sim except you are in an 18 Wheeler truck. The graphics are great, and the story line is ok. Its only down-feature is that fact that there are only five levels, but there is two player mode for even more fun and laughs. In my opinion, this is a must get game
OK...........But not great.

I have this for the Dreamcast. The best part of this game is the parking challenge. The arcade part and the whole game is way to short. It does not have the depth of other great racing/driving games. I finished the whole game the first day I had it, that is sad. Rent, don't buy.
needs some work

I was really looking forward to getting this game, I couldn't wait for ps2 to come out so got the dreamcast version. The levels were way to short. To drive from New York city to St. Petersburg took all of 3 minutes. which isn't totally bad in itself, if there was a free ride where you could just drive around a bit. All the levels have checkpoints so you don't have time to enjoy the game, you get too busy just trying to make the next checkpoint in time. Graphics are good. Vs mode is the best feature where you can litter the road with your cargo to slow down your opponent

I think I played this game in the past. The point in this review is this.
I am a truck driver and for me most of these "trucking" games are trying to capture life as an owner operator. From what I have read on the reviews of this game are people who have no clue what it means to be in a rig let alone drive one. You will never get in a truck and be able to go 0 to 60 in any short number of seconds. I have a solution though, why don't you strap 80,000 pounds to your little toy car and see how fast you get to 60mph. It is not fair to judge a game like this unlease you know what a truck can and can't do in the first place. I will admit some of the trucking games are not true to life, because it takes a good amount of time (depending on how fast you can get trough the atleast 10 gears) to get to 60. In order to understand a game like this you have to understand the life it self. To be your own boss trying to find a load that you can make money on or atleast brake even to get a better load. For far the best truck driving game I have ever played is 18 wheels of steal for the pc. Ask any real truck driver and you will see there is nothing fast about any 18 wheeler. So if you are looking to go fast this wouldn't be the game for you but if you are looking for someing realistic try the pc game or even big mother trucker. the Pc game is the best by far.
Not Impressed!

18 Wheeler is only a very average game at best. I am a big fan of all racing games, but the action in this game is too SLOW to keep me interested. After playing through a couple of levels, I was bored with this game.
The graphics do not live up to the Playstation 2, in fact this game looks more like a Playstation one game.
If you enjoyed the arcade game, you may like this, but I would recommend renting this before buying it.

I used to have a gamecube but I traded it in for a PS2 because it had a lot more games and better games. I normally love racing games but this game was horrible. These are some of the reasons I disliked this game
1 There are only 4 levels, HOW BORING
2 The game was just too slow paced with these big heavy trucks
3 There are only 4 trucks to choose from, just NOT ENEOUGH
4 It is almost impossible, you only get 70 seconds to travel halfway across the country, DUH!!
5 And, most dissapointing , it is way too unrealistic, both in physics and that you have to go from somewhere in NY to Key West
in 70 seconds!
In conclusion, DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY BUYING OR RENTING IT (And don't waste your time looking at it.)
oh me oh my

Acclaim had the opurtunnity(spelled thet wrong) to make this a great game but they didnt use it, even in very easy mode the game is impossible they give you 70 seconds to go from NYC to Key West, did I mention there is only 4 levels. Oh my. This is a total insult to PS2. Avoid at all costs. Dont look dont talk dont even think of this game. Maybe it will dissapear soon,
