I think I played this game in the past. The point in this review is this.
I am a truck driver and for me most of these "trucking" games are trying to capture life as an owner operator. From what I have read on the reviews of this game are people who have no clue what it means to be in a rig let alone drive one. You will never get in a truck and be able to go 0 to 60 in any short number of seconds. I have a solution though, why don't you strap 80,000 pounds to your little toy car and see how fast you get to 60mph. It is not fair to judge a game like this unlease you know what a truck can and can't do in the first place. I will admit some of the trucking games are not true to life, because it takes a good amount of time (depending on how fast you can get trough the atleast 10 gears) to get to 60. In order to understand a game like this you have to understand the life it self. To be your own boss trying to find a load that you can make money on or atleast brake even to get a better load. For far the best truck driving game I have ever played is 18 wheels of steal for the pc. Ask any real truck driver and you will see there is nothing fast about any 18 wheeler. So if you are looking to go fast this wouldn't be the game for you but if you are looking for someing realistic try the pc game or even big mother trucker. the Pc game is the best by far.

I used to have a gamecube but I traded it in for a PS2 because it had a lot more games and better games. I normally love racing games but this game was horrible. These are some of the reasons I disliked this game
1 There are only 4 levels, HOW BORING
2 The game was just too slow paced with these big heavy trucks
3 There are only 4 trucks to choose from, just NOT ENEOUGH
4 It is almost impossible, you only get 70 seconds to travel halfway across the country, DUH!!
5 And, most dissapointing , it is way too unrealistic, both in physics and that you have to go from somewhere in NY to Key West
in 70 seconds!

In conclusion, DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY BUYING OR RENTING IT (And don't waste your time looking at it.)

oh me oh my

Acclaim had the opurtunnity(spelled thet wrong) to make this a great game but they didnt use it, even in very easy mode the game is impossible they give you 70 seconds to go from NYC to Key West, did I mention there is only 4 levels. Oh my. This is a total insult to PS2. Avoid at all costs. Dont look dont talk dont even think of this game. Maybe it will dissapear soon,

18 Wheeler is only a very average game at best. I am a big fan of all racing games, but the action in this game is too SLOW to keep me interested. After playing through a couple of levels, I was bored with this game.

The graphics do not live up to the Playstation 2, in fact this game looks more like a Playstation one game.

If you enjoyed the arcade game, you may like this, but I would recommend renting this before buying it.

B-B-B-BORING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This game is total disgrace to Playstation 2. First of all the graphic. Don't be fooled by the picture-shot in the backcover or anywhere else, once you start the game, you'll notice the blurry and horrible graphics. The graphic in this game is Akklaim graphic style. Remember blurry graphic in Burnout (also by Akklaim), this game worst. In the cover, it said "converted by Akklaim" which mean Sega made this game and Akklaim convert it to horrible game. I should avoid it at the first time.

Second, the road length is very short. No, it very very short. And it almost impossible to finish. What the point of all of this? Very short track and very difficult.
I give this game 1 star because it don't have negative star. In the scale of 0 to 10, I will give this game (negative)-5 star. I purchased this game this afternoon and now I'm ready to sell it back.

Do NOT buy this game

I feel like I was ripped off and I only rented this game. I had played the demo version for the Dreamcast and loved it.Somehow Acclaim found a way to ruin this great arcade game. It is almost impossible to finish a race even on the easy settings. I dont know what happened but they made this way too hard which makes it unplayable. This PS2 version is garbage and should be avoided at all costs. I would throw this game out, but I have decided to go return it to the video store so some other sucker can waste their six bucks. I wish I could give it zero stars.

Save your money!

I love playing GT3 as well as smuggler's run and crazy taxi and I thought "hey, 18 wheeler racing, that sounds cool!" Boy was I wrong about this game being cool. When you think about GT3, crazy taxi and smuggler's run, you think speed and intense game play. However, 18 Wheeler, in contrast, is a INCREDIBLY SLOW racing game. I know, I know, there are going to be those that say 'well, it is more like a truck driving simulation because 18 wheeler's don't accelerate fast.' But come on, the game speed is SO slow and boring that if you are crave speedy racing games such as GT3 or Crazy Taxi chances are you are going to HATE this game. Plus, if this is suppose to be a simulation how come you can just run into things without crashing your truck?

Look, this game was suppose to be modelled after an arcade game. That means I expect it to play like an arcade game (fast and fun). Instead what we get is a very slow racing game.

Another crappy thing about this game is that the distance that you must drive between NY and FLorida can be driven in 120 seconds of driving time. Come on', if this is suppose to be a truck driving simulation than make the drives LONG (or at least the option to be long). Goodness sakes, even Crazy Taxi and Driver for the old PSone have bigger driving areas to explore(not to mention that both ATV offroad racer and Smuggler's run have HUGE areas to roam in as well) than that. Plus, there is no free-roam or free-drive option, instead everything is timed.

All in all this game sounds like it would be a lot of fun, but my guess is most people will be dissappointed.
Save your money on this one.
