This game is the best simulation out for Playstation 2. You get to act as a real trucker. You get to carry cargo and load it and unload it. I recommend this game to anybody who loves simulations.

I was really looking forward to getting this game, I couldn't wait for ps2 to come out so got the dreamcast version. The levels were way to short. To drive from New York city to St. Petersburg took all of 3 minutes. which isn't totally bad in itself, if there was a free ride where you could just drive around a bit. All the levels have checkpoints so you don't have time to enjoy the game, you get too busy just trying to make the next checkpoint in time. Graphics are good. Vs mode is the best feature where you can litter the road with your cargo to slow down your opponent
OK...........But not great.

I have this for the Dreamcast. The best part of this game is the parking challenge. The arcade part and the whole game is way to short. It does not have the depth of other great racing/driving games. I finished the whole game the first day I had it, that is sad. Rent, don't buy.
Worthy of Renting only, and that's a stretch...

I really wanted to love this game, having been playing the arcade version(with authentic truck wheel and all) for quite sometime. I ran out an plunked down my fifty smackers the day of release. When I popped in the game and began to play, I found that I had completed the ENTIRE game in less than fifteen minutes. This game should cost $9.99 at the most, it's quirky, too short and really not that entertaining. I will be trading this game in shortly at the used video game shop, for something that will have a little replay value. Once again, rent this game if you must, but don't waste you hard earned money on this one, I would recommend Crazy Taxi for a driving game, it's fun, very entertaining and not nearly as simple as 18 wheeler.
This will be a legend!!!

I've only played 18 Wheeler in an arcade, with the big steering wheel, and the wide screen, and I have to say its one of the best games I've ever played. Its like Flight Sim except you are in an 18 Wheeler truck. The graphics are great, and the story line is ok. Its only down-feature is that fact that there are only five levels, but there is two player mode for even more fun and laughs. In my opinion, this is a must get game
Really bad

I rented this and had to double check the box to make sure I got the PS2 game. The graphics are only OK for PS1, awful for PS2.
It's not fun either. I was looking forward to smashing stuff with a big truck. You get time taken off the clock for hitting cars, and you'll never finish in the time allowed.
If you don't want to have fun and just race, it's way too short. I went from NY to FL in a few minutes.
You'd be better off getting ANY of the other driving games for PS2.
This game is so cool!

I love playing GT3 as well as smuggler's run and crazy taxi and I thought "hey, 18 wheeler racing, that sounds cool!" Boy was I wrong about this game being cool. When you think about GT3, crazy taxi and smuggler's run, you think speed and intense game play. However, 18 Wheeler, in contrast, is a INCREDIBLY SLOW racing game. I know, I know, there are going to be those that say 'well, it is more like a truck driving simulation because 18 wheeler's don't accelerate fast.' But come on, the game speed is SO slow and boring that if you are crave speedy racing games such as GT3 or Crazy Taxi chances are you are going to HATE this game. Plus, if this is suppose to be a simulation how come you can just run into things without crashing your truck?
Look, this game was suppose to be modelled after an arcade game. That means I expect it to play like an arcade game (fast and fun). Instead what we get is a very slow racing game.
Another crappy thing about this game is that the distance that you must drive between NY and FLorida can be driven in 120 seconds of driving time. Come on', if this is suppose to be a truck driving simulation than make the drives LONG (or at least the option to be long). Goodness sakes, even Crazy Taxi and Driver for the old PSone have bigger driving areas to explore(not to mention that both ATV offroad racer and Smuggler's run have HUGE areas to roam in as well) than that. Plus, there is no free-roam or free-drive option, instead everything is timed.
All in all this game sounds like it would be a lot of fun, but my guess is most people will be dissappointed.
Save your money on this one.
Dont even rent this game

I feel like I was ripped off and I only rented this game. I had played the demo version for the Dreamcast and loved it.Somehow Acclaim found a way to ruin this great arcade game. It is almost impossible to finish a race even on the easy settings. I dont know what happened but they made this way too hard which makes it unplayable. This PS2 version is garbage and should be avoided at all costs. I would throw this game out, but I have decided to go return it to the video store so some other sucker can waste their six bucks. I wish I could give it zero stars.
