After all this time waiting for alien resurrection, i finaly got it and i was surprised with the bad controls. I mean why the HELL did they release it without fixing the horrible and frustrating controls. The game's atmosphere is scary and the graphics are ok, but without the solid and smooth gameplay, it's just another frustrating game. Another thing is that the game is so goddamn HARD(dont get me wrong, i like hard games)and with the bitchy controls, it makes it impossible to play. I recommend ALIEN TRILOGY which was released in 1996 and still is a classic and a must buy for action and 1st person fans(also alien fans) SHAME ON YOU FOX AND ARGONAUT.
And you thought the movie was bad...

Alien Ressurection the game, makes the movie of the same title look like an Oscar winning masterpiece (well, ok maybe not). The only reason it got two stars was for the awesome atmosphere and graphics that this game has to offer plus the level of geniune fear and suspense that it conjurs up.
Now for the bad...nothing ever really happens in this game. At times, it is downright BORING. You wander around in the pitch black half the time waiting for something really bad to happen...but it never does. When I say this game is dark, I mean dark as in no light. You can't see half the time and the worthless flashlight that you have runs out of batteries every five minutes. The controls are sloppy and unnecessarily difficult. The weapons/ammo are limited and you really have to search for them in some of the later levels which makes the game seem contrived, like they added that feature only to make the game longer. Alien Trilogy was a much better game. Like the Alien movies, too many sequels makes for a predictable and downright boring ride.
another unwanted sequel

graphics: a bit sub par. environments are all the same sets over and over. the aliens are in the ... flat-3d sprite-like technology from the original "Doom."
game play: it's not terrible but it just isn't that fun. i've got maybe twenty playstation titles (some, like "Vagrant Story" or "Siphon Filter" or even "Spider Man" i like well enough to continue playing on my PS2 -- there's only so much "Tekken Tag" you can take) and this is the only one i haven't even considered revisiting.
there are tons of great PS1 titles out there for cheap now. try one of them instead. or save your pennies for the new Game Boy in march, or "Metal Gear Solid: Sons of Liberty" or just about anything else.
"Alien Resurection" (like its big screen namesake) would have been better off staying dead.
Ahead, and behind it's time.

This could be considered the companion to Alien Trilogy as it takes place in the Fourth Movie following the first three presented in Alien Trilogy. This game featured controls that people are more familiar with in these days, but didn't understand at the time. The controls may be above average, and the graphics are excellent for the time, but seriously, the level design is a piece of crap! What kind of space ship is this? Very illogical design leads to BORING gameplay that is only fun for 5 minutes with invincibility turned on, otherwise you'll die in 2 minutes without it because you move soo slow. An interesting thing is that if you get impregnated by a facehugger you won't be allowed to go through airlocks or elevators, which is interesting that they followed through on this principal with the chestbursters, and you'll have to find a device to take out the creature before the time runs out. The thing that doesn't make sense with this is that even with a chestburster inside you, aliens will attack you, and that makes no sense. Facehuggers can also attack you by hitting you with their tails. Don't play this game, I'd rather watch the movie.
Great graphics and atmosphere, terrible control

GRAPHICS: 9/10
SOUND: 8/10
CONTROLS: 4/10
GAMEPLAY: 6/10
This game has great atmosphere, sound, and fantasitc graphics (very dark and creepy), but the controls are horrible. They should have taken a look at the Quake II (PSX version) controls before making this game, because Alien Resurrection really suffers because of it. I even tried playing this with a PSX mouse, but that wasn't much better. I did get accustomed to the controls after a while, but they were still awkward and at that point I was bored with the game anyway - it's just not very exciting. If you are a diehard fan of the Alien movies you will probably enjoy this, otherwise look elsewhere.
Most horrifying game ever

Although I didn't think the game was all that good, it is worth playing atleast once just to see how scary it is. The good things about it are that it's better than the movie, the graphics are great & smooth, and the controls are great too. But the bad things are that its pretty boring after awhile, and is way too hard even on the easiest mode. But if you like getting scared, nothing comes close to this, not even The Thing on ps2. The game is so dark that you can hardly see, but that makes it better. As you wonder down hallways, you feel as if you're totally safe, then several aliens will suddenly pop up from seemingly nowhere and attack. And if you happen to escape from and alien, he'll be gone when you return, but then he'll pop out again just when you think it's ok to move. Its really exciting.
Alien Resurrection is simply superb!

Fox Interactive and Argonaut have done a praiseworthy job of bringing the second Aliens title to the Sony Playstation. Make no mistake about it - Alien Resurrection is a superbly crafted game, it's intense and atmospheric, possessing in spades the vital ingrediants that any definitive Aliens game requires. The graphics are excellent for the PSX's capabilities, the sound FX and ambience are spot on, the AI is impressive, the weapons beefy, and the Aliens suitably nasty. With ten huge levels of xenomorph-blasting action and some very nice Half-Life-style scripted sequences cutting into the action, this is one game that no Playstation-owning Aliens fan should be without. The ONLY reason I've not given it 5 stars is due to the somewhat fiddly control system - but even that can be overcome with practice and time.
BUY IT NOW!!!

Alien Resurrection was a example of a great game. Great graphics, good sound, great gameplay, but it does suffer from one major factor (THE CONTROLS!!!). The controls are the only major issue in Alien Resurrection. They are awkward, sloppy, and just plain messed up! But if you give yourself awhile to work with it you will get it down in no time. Other than that it is one of the best games that I own. But gamers be warned it is given a M-rating for a good reason.
Fun, Scary, and very cool!

This is a fun game. This game keeps close to the alien movies, and especially to the fourth one. While some gamers complain that the game has a lot of dead space, with no killing, I didn't find that to be the case. I did cheat and use the cheats codes to help me get through the game, especially with those little facehuggers lying around the floor waiting to get you. The facehuggers can be frustrating, but with the cheat on, you don't die. I like the alien genre and if you enjoy the genre as well, you too will enjoy this game. It is great when it is best played in the dark.
GOOD EXCITING Game with GOOD Graphics!!

I loved this game! First of all, I loved all the Alien Movies because the Aliens are so scary! This game, was also equally scary! They recommend playng this game in the dark, and I did, and it freaked me out! I just got a Playstation, and this was my first game. This is a great, exciting game! I'm only in the beginning stages, and it is giving me goosebumps and I haven't even seen an alien yet! The ONLY reason why I didn't give this game 5 stars is because the controls for this game are really hard, and they take a long time to get used to, and that there are also guards and other people with guns you have to kill, which I think ruins the game a little because your supposed to be alone with only the aliens, so why are the people there? Anyways, other then that, the game is really good, and you should buy it! You will not be disappointed. :)
