Alien Resurrection: a deep pool of thick atmosphere

Many reviewers have given this game a mediocre or even low review, but I think it deserves much, much more. The tension is everywhere, and there's aliens around every corner. The controls take getting used to, but once you get the hang of them, you wouldn't want anything different. Definitely one of the best PSX games ever, and one of the best single player experiences on any platform.

Out of my 30 games this is the best one! It`s constant horror and action, all the creepiness of Alien is captured in this game to give you the heebie jeebies! But I got to tell you the M is well deserved. This game will keep you on the edge of your seat the whole time!

Downright freaky

This is one of the coolest PlayStation games ever. The film clips are one of the best ones I've seen in any movie-based game. You have the oppertunity to take down aliens with a cool arsenal of weapons. The creators of this game recommend that you play this game in the dark. I tried doing it and............OH BOY! It's awesome. I can't remember playing anything scarier. I suggest that all PlayStation owners should get this game, but be sure to play it in the dark.

Great Game! But Awkward Controls!!!

Alien Resurrection was a example of a great game. Great graphics, good sound, great gameplay, but it does suffer from one major factor (THE CONTROLS!!!). The controls are the only major issue in Alien Resurrection. They are awkward, sloppy, and just plain messed up! But if you give yourself awhile to work with it you will get it down in no time. Other than that it is one of the best games that I own. But gamers be warned it is given a M-rating for a good reason.

Ahead, and behind it's time.

This could be considered the companion to Alien Trilogy as it takes place in the Fourth Movie following the first three presented in Alien Trilogy. This game featured controls that people are more familiar with in these days, but didn't understand at the time. The controls may be above average, and the graphics are excellent for the time, but seriously, the level design is a piece of crap! What kind of space ship is this? Very illogical design leads to BORING gameplay that is only fun for 5 minutes with invincibility turned on, otherwise you'll die in 2 minutes without it because you move soo slow. An interesting thing is that if you get impregnated by a facehugger you won't be allowed to go through airlocks or elevators, which is interesting that they followed through on this principal with the chestbursters, and you'll have to find a device to take out the creature before the time runs out. The thing that doesn't make sense with this is that even with a chestburster inside you, aliens will attack you, and that makes no sense. Facehuggers can also attack you by hitting you with their tails. Don't play this game, I'd rather watch the movie.

much like the movie

somehow, just like the movie, Alien the game has managed to remain relevent years after it was relaced. i think this is because they both use the same philosophy when it comes to horror. both the game and the movie are striped down to the basics of what makes a situation scary, no BFGs or ghosts or long complicated plots, just you, alone, in the dark. but just how alone are you?

(when i say Alien the movie, i dont mean Alien Resurection, whoever dirrected that movie should be shot)

In Alien Resurection (the game) you play as Ripply, you must work your way through the environments of Alien Resurection (the movie) and eventualy escape. the envronments arnt to creative, but their filled with the two scaryest things in existace, monsters, and dark. Amo is scarce and enemies are not, you must get the most out of what you have or die.
this game is insanly hard though, dont expect to beat it in a day.

its so cheap anyway, what do you have to lose?

Sweet Game

This would be 5 stars , but the graphics arn't like Syfon Filter 2 . The cool part about this game is the baby Aliens busting out of your chaters chest . If you dont want baby Aliens' busting out of your chest get cheats from Gamepro.com

Most horrifying game ever

Although I didn't think the game was all that good, it is worth playing atleast once just to see how scary it is. The good things about it are that it's better than the movie, the graphics are great & smooth, and the controls are great too. But the bad things are that its pretty boring after awhile, and is way too hard even on the easiest mode. But if you like getting scared, nothing comes close to this, not even The Thing on ps2. The game is so dark that you can hardly see, but that makes it better. As you wonder down hallways, you feel as if you're totally safe, then several aliens will suddenly pop up from seemingly nowhere and attack. And if you happen to escape from and alien, he'll be gone when you return, but then he'll pop out again just when you think it's ok to move. Its really exciting.

Great graphics and atmosphere, terrible control

GRAPHICS: 9/10
SOUND: 8/10
CONTROLS: 4/10
GAMEPLAY: 6/10
This game has great atmosphere, sound, and fantasitc graphics (very dark and creepy), but the controls are horrible. They should have taken a look at the Quake II (PSX version) controls before making this game, because Alien Resurrection really suffers because of it. I even tried playing this with a PSX mouse, but that wasn't much better. I did get accustomed to the controls after a while, but they were still awkward and at that point I was bored with the game anyway - it's just not very exciting. If you are a diehard fan of the Alien movies you will probably enjoy this, otherwise look elsewhere.
