Can't get this to run correctly under XP and no patches available from Eidos. Game collects dust now...

I thought this game would have been as cool as the other tomb raiders p.1 and 2. This one was a disappointment for me. Especially because the game keept crashing my computer. I do have a new computer, but the thing kept crashing it. I think Tomb Raiders 1 was much better than this one.

how many tomb raiders are there now? I bought this one and I think it stinks, Tomb Raiders 1 and 2 are much more fun, this one also makes Windows 95 crash.

The most over-rated series ever.

To this very day I still cannot understand why everyone loves Tomb Raider so much. Aside from the odd improvement here and there, the games haven't changed vastly (I think Doom to Quake is vastly) at all. I find controlling Lara very clumsey, the 3rd person view not help. Plus, Lara does all the aiming so the satisfaction of blasting something's head off from a distance is non-existent. I found myself fart around half the time. Where's the fun in climbing up a rock face? I'm all for puzzles but I find these games boring and labourious. Oh, and Lara Croft is not fit because she's not real and if she was she'd fall forwards due to her massive mammaries. So stop ogling at your screen, you sad people!

Too Many Errors, What is Eidos doing?

Too Many Errors, What is Eidos doing? Did they fall asleep while creating this game? I love the Tomb Raiders seriers like the next person, but I think this one was the worst, I think Eidos spent too much time working on the Graphics and not enough time on content, I found that the game crashes in different places or points in the game, and it has things missing that are important for game play, like switches to go from one level to another level. I think it is the worst game put out by eidos in the Tomb Raider Series, I would save my money and skip this one. Overall the graphics are great, but the errors make game play difficult.

The third installment of a tired series

The Tomb Raider series has grown quite stale, and playing this new installment of the series just reaffirms the fact. The first Tomb Raider was decent, the second was lacking, and this one is basically the two combined with some new graphical specs here and there. And we all know graphics don't make the game, don't we? The game is basically set outdoors most of the time, with some temples here and there of pretty good size, but the sheer amount of frustration put into every level just isn't worth getting angry over. Whether it be the extravagant number of gunshots to kill something, or finding that little item on the ground to get you past the current area, you WILL get stuck and you WILL get frustrated way too much then it should be. I suppose Lara's trademark "gravity-defying breasts" keep this series from going down the drain by the large number of mid to late pubescent teens out there, but if you want a good PC platerformer, I'd look elsewhere.

Great grahics and gameplay, but too HARD

Ok, I have never tried out any of the other Tomb Raider games, but after playing this game, I'm tempted to start purchasing them, based on their good reviews. This game has great graphics. Lara never gets stuck in walls or have any graphical deformations. The enemy creatures look very cool, but don't get me wrong, those pesky monkeys get very annoying. Well, actually, I've only seen very few creatures, because I can't get past the second part of the 1st level. Which brings me to my next point-(This could take a while, so try not to fall asleep from my rambling) THE DIFFICULTY LEVEL IS EXTREMELY HIGH. They give you no clues what so ever about the puzzles, they just expect you to put your thinking caps on and figure it out. There are switches on walls in the middle of nowhere, and all you here is a door opening, and you have about 15 seconds before it closes. Or, switches that rig boulders so you have to sprint , stop, turn and climb into a secret alcove ten feet above your head Oh, and say you want to take a little swim? CHECK THE WATER FIRST! Because sometimes, the water will be infested with little fishies...PIRANAHS. The split-second you climb into the water, you will be attacked by a mini-school of them. Feel free to sit there motionless while your health goes down all the way in 0.09 seconds. Confusing- You get more health drained when you get bit by fish then when you get attacked by a tiger or cobra. Hmm, intresting. Oh , also, if you get to the second part of INDIA, the TEMPLE RUINS (the farthest I've gotten) as you explore, watch out for cobras hidden in the grass, almot totally camoflauged. Which brings me to my next point. (sigh) I find myself using up flares in almost every tunnel or tiny space I am in. Every space is so dark. You could either use flares, or turn the brightness on your moniter way up. Those little flames go fast. They should provide you with a flashlight. Well, I would recommend this game to anyone who can sit through this game without crying\screaming\bashing in computer with a sledgehammer.

I've conquered hundreds of video games, but unless you have serious amounts of free time on your hand the tomb raider series is not for you. I especially don't like having to get a hint guide to progress through a game. The first tomb raider was difficult, but not unreasonably so, the puzzles made sense. The second one introduced a troubling trend of hiding the solution to puzzles in nonsensical places, and forcing a player to backtrack and turn up the brightness constantly. In this game it is virtually impossible to figure out swiftly where you need to go or what you have to do. With larger levels come an increasingly frustrating inability to simply figure out what you're trying to do in that particular level. I finally gave up after defeating two areas. I refused to buy the hint guide, but after flipping through it I was enraged at how impossible the programmers made it to find the extra weapons and ammo. The game is tough enough already without having to defeat levels with just your pistols if you don't buy the hint guide.

Why the hell can't they just make the game fun? the first one was just about right. I'll never have the amount of free time necessary to enjoy this series, which I actually love. I have more fun just wandering around and jumping then trying to defeat needlessly obtuse puzzles. The only area really up to first tomb raider standards are is the south american levels with the giant statues. ARGH.

Too hard, but still TR

I like this game, but I think it is too hard. I ended up buying a guide book b/c I couldn't figure out what to do. The graphics are great and I really like the practice course and Lara's house. There is an amazing fish tank in Lara's basement that's worth checking out. The game play is too challenging and you spend a lot of time back-tracking to where you were just to flip a switch again. TR2 is definitely better.
