It seems obvious that if the first DBZ GBA game was bad this is going to be just the same thing all over again! Stupid waste-of-time sidequests, a rushed storyline, and unfair battles! The graphics are also very VERY poor and could even work for a GBC game. Unless this one's been improved over the first, I suggest to not get it unless you really, REALLY want it so, SO badly. But you may regret doing so! Buy something else like "Final Fantasy: ORIGINS" or "Kingdom Hearts" instead!

this game is terrible

First of all, they didn't have any half stars.
The amount you get to fly is pathetic . The amount you have to blast your enemies is too long. It's not at all like the TV show DBZ. When you fly if you're over a piece of land and you flew there but you're on the edge you cant land you have to go back where you were.

It was okay but wherever u went you'd be attacked and if you aren't at a good level you would die. You'r attacks like spirit bomb is cool but they don't get you very far so this game is a piece of junk!!!!!!

Pretty much the worst game I've played on the GBA. Suitable for only the most rabid of DBZ fanboys. I love the series, but the game is sheer garbage. Typical Infogrames.

3.5 stars - A massive improvement over its predecessor

The original Legacy Of Goku game for the Game Boy Advance was one of the most disappointing Dragon Ball Z games I had ever played. Dragon Ball Z games are infamous for their "hit or miss" reputation, and that game was one of the biggest misses yet. When I heard that Infogrames had a sequel on the way, my expectations were extremely low after having played the first game. But, being an open-minded person, I decided to give it a try. How does it measure up? Read on and find out.

PROS:
-THE CONTROL HAS BEEN GIVEN A MASSIVE IMPROVEMENT. You can actually move diagonally in this game. Not being able to do so was one of the biggest problems of the original game, and that's been fixed here. Also, you can now dash by double-tapping the control pad in the direction you wish to run. Control improvements are one of the most welcome additions to this game.
-UNLIKE THE FIRST GAME, YOU CAN PLAY AS MULTIPLE CHARACTERS HERE! Only being able to play as Goku in the first game was a massive disappointment. Fortunately, Infogrames fixed this problem as well. Being able to play as several different characters helps to break the redundancy that plagued the original game.
-THERE ARE TONS OF SIDE QUESTS. In addition to the game's standard storyline, there are a number of side quests you can achieve to gain new items and to advance through the game.
-THE GAME USES RPG ELEMENTS. In this game, you get experience points for every enemy you defeat, and each time you level up, you become stronger. The "level-up" element is one of the best things about this game.

CONS:
-LIKE THE FIRST GAME, THIS ONE HAS PLENTY OF STORYLINE INACCURACIES. For example, standard human and animal foes in the game are almost as strong as the character you are playing as. All right, I admit they probably had to do this to make the game more entertaining, but still - die hard fans of the series may be turned off by the inaccuracies.
-IT USES THE AMERICAN NAMES AND DIALOGUE. This was to be expected, and personally, it doesn't bother me too much, but there are some die-hard Dragon Ball Z fans out there that just hate the dub with a passion (I'd know because I used to be one of them.)
-ALL THE CHARACTERS IN THE GAME LOOK TOO CHILDISH. This was a problem in the first game, as well, and I was disappointed not to see it get the proper fixing. Oh, well.
-IT'S FUNNEST THE FIRST TIME THROUGH. After playing through the game once, you're bound to get bored with it - games like this generally don't have a lot of replay value.

OVERALL:
To put it simply, this game improves on the original Legacy Of Goku in just about every way imaginable. If you're a Dragon Ball Z fan, or you just want an entertaining Action-RPG hybrid game, check this one out.

first off I would like to say that I have never played the game yet but have played the first many times over granted that the first had some flaws but that only means that the second can only get better because people learn from there mistakes and make thngs better as they get along now me personaly think that this will be a great game for all ages i am always makeing sure I know what Im getting so here is what I will tell you what I know so far in this game you start right after the freza saga is over and the trunks saga begins you start as gohan and as you progres you are able to play as ether gohan trunks goku picollo or vegita I also understand that there is an improved system for flying Im not guite sure how much improved the battles are because in the previous game they were not that chalenging and but still fun I recomend this game mostly for dbz fans because it is just easier to get the inside jokes abnd it makes the game that much more fun but is still playable for anyone but just more enjoyable if you know whats going on i hope my review helps well good gameing!

An improvment over the first

While Dragon Ball Z Legacy of Goku was a fine example of a simple Action RPG, it did have it's flaws. Those flaws were that you had no idea how badly you were damaging your foes, the damage ratio to you was out of whack, it was incredibly linear, and all the bosses were pathetically easy (Solar Flare, Energy Attack/Kamehameha) and you only played as Goku (thus a huge chunk of story was removed). I am glad to say that most of the problems this time around were fixed.

The story behind legacy of Goku 2 is that Trunks arrives from the future to warn the heroes that a pair of Androids will arrive in three years and basically destroy the world. He gives Goku some medicine so that he does not die prematurly and then takes off so they can prepare. Three years later a set of androids appear but they are not the ones trunks had fought, those appear later along with a third. Soon the androids are face a threat called cell along with the heroes and eventually cell creates a tournament.

Like I said most of the problems with the first were corrected. Now with the use of a scouter you can examine the strengths of everything in the game, from cell down to a little butterfly. When you attack or are being hit a red nuber appears that basically sasy how much life was removed. So damage ratio was greatly even out. You play much of the game as Gohan, Piccolo, and Vegeta with Trunks and Goku playable at the end. The linear factor was removed as with a world map you can go wherever you want.

However some problems remain. While the bosses are smarter this time around, ultimatly they do revert back to a basic pattern. Get to close they punch, stand to far they shoot energy. How you decide to fight is up to you. Also the flight meter which provied a quick escape in Legacy 1 was removed. So no longer if you are getting your ass kicked and need a quick escape can you.

Overall Legacy of Goku 2 is a solid game that is a lot of fun. it has it's share of problems but what game doesn't. Overall this is a solid title to own on the GBA.

I played the first Legacy of Goku game, and it was great. I know this game will be better than the first, since at the beginning, you'll play with Gohan, then as the game goes on, you'll have the option of choosing to with either Vegeta, Goku, Piccolo, Trunks, or continue with Gohan. There is also a new improved flying system and there's also a new technique that can make you become a super saiyan. I'm tellin ya, this game will be ten times betta than the first. I suggest you get it the day it come out.
