This game had allot of potentional to be great, sadly the morons who programmed the game ruined it with the AI for the cops and other drivers. The graphics are great for a handheld game and the music selection was decent. You can modify the cars with performance enhancements and visual upgrades. The racing was allot of fun and even intense at times....up until the cops gave chase and thats where the game is ruined. The AI cops go after you almost exclusivly. No matter how fast you are, the cops will catch you in a matter of seconds even if they start off half a lap behind you and there is no getting away from them. Once they are close they begin to hammer into your car while the other racers drive by untouched. In the end it ruins the fun and just leaves you completely frustrated. The best thing to do is save your money for a better game but if you really feel the need to get it then go to a gamestore and buy it off the used shelf....that's where my copy will be.

Need for Speed Most Wanted 5-1-0.......Not quite as bad as everyone lets on that it is....

Anyone coming into Need for Speed Most Wanted 5-1-0 expecting it to be exactly like the console editions should definitely take heed that this game isn't like the console editions. In fact, in some instances, it's totally different than the console editions but much better. Gone is the chance to free-roam about the city of Rockport yet the career mode offers players more than 140 different racing events for you to compete in(like time trials, police pursuits & whatnot). The selection of cars are somewhat smaller and the AI is somewhat questionable at times. The storyline for the game is, basically, the same as the consoles as you'll assume the role as an unknown trying to rise through the ranks of the Black List. To build your rep, you'll have to take out all the local competition, peak your "heat" meter, but most of all, avoid the cops at all costs. Just like the console games, the cars have a more heavier feel to them. Two things that sets this game apart from its' console counterparts is "Tuner Takedown" & "Be the Cop". The first being a chance to hunt down and make arrests against racers while the other gives you a chance to be a cop & enjoy the thrill of pursuit. The whole game spans 10 circuits and is a more grittier urban take on the Underground series. As impressed as I was with NFSU Rivals, I'm equally impressed(if not more so) with Need for Speed Most Wanted 5-1-0. The game looks a heck of a sight better than Rivals, in my opinion. There's no slowdown & very little loading time to speak of. Overall, it's a solid game that racing fans will enjoy. Believe me, it's not quite as bad as everyone lets on that it is. I enjoyed it and am glad I made the purchase.

I can't believe that this game made it out of EA without being checked by their QA department. Saying it has issues is an understatement.

I would really enjoy this game if it didn't constantly lock up or get stuck during loading. None of my other games have problems like this. Yes, some of it is very repetitive but I do enjoy most of the races. I also like the cars and the soundtrack. But it's just too annoying to turn my machine on and off again just to get the game to work. It's too bad because I really want to rate this game higher.

I got this game for Christmas and I love it because it has a lot of different grafics, very entretaining. My brother, sister and my cousins loved it (even though, they're older). I think is much better than need for speed underground. I recommend this game for ages 9 to 18+.

Do not buy if you have NFS Most Wanted for PS2/Xbox(360)

You definitely should NOT buy this game if you already have or are going to get Need for Speed Most Wanted. Why? Because you'll love this game without NFSMW on a home console, but compared to NFSMW, this is a poor attempt at recreation on a smaller disc. This game sucks to me.
Significant things that are on NFSMW but not 5-1-0: The worst part is the things left outta Career Mode. The "blacklist" is doing 4 races for money and respect points, then you unlock a different race (and I'm not sure if you even race against a Blacklist guy in it) and when you win you move on. Also unfortunately missing is the feel that you're really in it for real. NFSMW gave you that feel because it's like a movie, there are real-life situations, you have guys helping you out, guys out to get you, and you have a Cingular voice mail/texting thingy! It also has Free Roam, where you can drive around the county, doing absolutely everything and anything, from driving on the baseball fields to burning rubber on the streets, that is, until the cops spot you. Then when you're in a pursuit you can run into gas stations to make them blow up and destroy cop cars, or drive into any other pursuit breaker. Then when you've evaded the cops, you go into cooldown mode, and you have to find a hiding spot (which you can find on your GPS) and it'll fill up your cooldown meter quicker. The higher the heat, the longer it takes to cooldown while not in a hiding spot. All that is missing in 5-1-0.
In 5-1-0 the cops don't do anything. The cops are basically light blue mini-vans, and the roadblocks are two cops surrounded by a steel fence which doesn't even cover up the whole road.
Don't get this if you have Most Wanted for PS2/Xbox(360). You might like it if you don't have it, but maybe not.

Some comments about the cops in this game

I went through several low-rating reviews. Most of them complained about cops. Now, I totally finished "career" in this game. There is a trick for you to avoid cops' interuption. Don't lead at most of the racing time until the last one lap or one minute. The cops always focus on the leading car.

buy it!
