Terrific graphics (toned down a bit to keep the framerate high), sublime sound, and unique, manic gameplay makes for one of the best multiplayer games of all time. Your goal is to use your licensed Nintendo character to kick another licensed Nintendo character's boot-ay.
Unlike other fighting games, where the goal is usually to simply empty their life bar by landing as many hits as possible, Smash Brothers brings an innovation to the table, which, after experienced, makes other fighting games feel tame, and sometimes even downright wrong. The goal in Smash Brothers is to knock your opponent off the arena (be it straight up, down, or off to the sides). The more damaged a character in Smash Brothers becomes, the further that character will fly. Damage is expressed as a percent which increases when the character is damaged. While a character may become very vulnerable at 100%, a character will *never* die from increased damage. A character will simply fly further and faster as the damage goes from 50% to 100% to 150% and beyond indefinitely.
There are two beauty's to this system. First, it simply feels great to knock someone around and to launch them off the screen. In other fighter games, most hits barely show a visual effect on the fighter except the fighter's life bar decreases and they may become stunned or fly a short distance.... Second, you must land a killer hit to get a kill. In other fighters, you can work someone down to a small fraction of their life, then maybe tap them with your fist and, boy, wow, you won! In Smash Brothers, the only way you will get a kill is to land a hit strong enough to send them off the screen. Granted, if you are able to bring someone to a high enough percentage, even a fist tap is enough, but by then they have most likely landed several killer hits on you. No, the way to win in Smash Brothers is usually to hit them with numerous weaker but very quick and damage-increasing attacks and when you believe their percent is high enough you try to land a slower (the character may pull their fist or leg back to very briefly "wind up") but much more powerful attack, which, by golly, sends them flying off the screen and you have officially CRUSHED their ego!
The first time you do this you will feel powerful, invincible, until inevitably their character regenerates and they clean your clock and knock you off the screen, which, by the way, completely pisses you off, because they GOT LUCKY and you will SHOW THEM!!
This game only gets better the more you play it, as you learn the many unique moves of every one of the dozen characters and how balanced they all are and as you create your own combos with each character and figure out ways to destroy your opponents and crush their egos beneath your feet! Muhahaha! Muhahahahaha!! MUHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Oops, sorry, merely daydreaming.

Super Smash Brothers is one of the best games I ever played and owned. The action and simple gameplay makes it fun and exciting. Each character has their pros and cons. For example, Pikachu is fast and can get back to the arena easily, but Pikachu really can't deal a lot of damage to its opponents. Another example is Link, he has a lot of powerful attacks and can deal plenty of damage, but is free to get hit when using his grab/shot and can't really make it back easily to the arena. The controls are pretty easy. All you have to do is combine different taps on the joystick with the A or B button. Combine the attacks and have good timing then you'll win. Basically, this game is easy and yet challenging and fun for everybody, so give it a try.
Every one must have this

I love this game - it's in my opinion one of the best on the N64. My friend and I spent at least 4 hours just fighting in this game and even never got tired. The characters (Mario, Luigi, Link, Samus (my fave), Donkey Kong, Capt. Falcon, Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Kirby, Starfox, Yoshi, and Ness) are portrayed almost exactly the same as in their individual games, and the stages are fun and colorful - sometimes challenging because you have to avoid some obstacles. I think anyone who likes any kind of fighting games would like this - and it's a GREAT multiplayer game! Trust me, buy it, it gives you fun for a long time.

This game is pretty good. It's a fun game to play with your freinds, and that's all you can really do after you get the hidden characters. The 1p mode is not that hard. If I can beat it (and I'm not that good at video games) then anyone can.

this is such a cool game!!!! You can play different Nintendo characters, like Mario (good ole Mario), Yoshi (lovable Yoshi), Samus (alot of Metroid fans went crazy over this game), Donkey Kong (finally Mario and Donkey Kong in a smack down), Link (cheered those Zelda [fans]), Kirby (in my opinion the best character of them all, and yes you hear it from me, better than Pikachu), Pikachu (used to be my favorite pokemon, until Pichu came along, and(for those drooled over StarFox 64...) Fox. There are also secret characters you have to unlock... Luigi (still a side-kick), Jigglypuff (another cute pokemon), Captain Falcon (yes, the one from F-Zero), and finally Ness (for those who thought Earthbound's main character had finally died).
You have to get the game!!!!!
Mario Party? THIS is the ultimate party game

Super Smash Bros. is an absolute blast with a group of friends. What me and my friend like to do is tema up against a level 9 Jigglypuff and see who gets first between us. The most useful character HAS to be Kirby. He obviously can steal abilities, but he doesn't even have to. But for beginners, I recommend either Link or Luigi, then get Capt. Falcon. THEN get Kirby. This game is so much fun, me and my friends STILL have a blast playing it, and whenthe new one for GameCube comes out, you'll see me buying it. This is the ultimate N64 party game, bar none.
