Dreadful

I was very much looking forward to playing this game but it never worked! I had several people try and find the problem but all gave up and said it was impossible to make it play faster. I have a very new system so I don't think it was that. Maybe I just got a bad one but it certainly wasn't worth the money! It's now collecting dust.

A Fascinatiing Puzzle - the game was over all too soon

This is a beautiful and engrossing game. Once you have figured out how to get into the hidden passages it is easy to become mesmerized with the sense of place the artwork envokes. Slow down and take your time to enjoy the puzzles and imagine that you are walking down passages that have been undisturbed for untold ages.

I am looking forward to the authors' new game, Omega Stone, that comes out in November. Hopefully it will be as enjoyable as this one.

Enjoyable, BUT....

I enjoyed solving the puzzels in this game, however the game play has some flaws... First the game gets jumpy if you play for too long, so you should stop and restart your computer at regular intervals. Second, instead of smooth motion you move through a series of still pictures, (although there are occasionally animated parts to those pictures) and you have to check the shape of your cursor at each side of your screen to discover what directions you can move in for every spot that you stop in. Third, while the game changes the cursor to let you know what to click on, there were a few times when the cursor didn't change and one in particular (to find the tablets in the room with the snake) where the spot you have to click just looks like any other shadowy area. Finally, you can not adjust the sound and music seperately; several people in my house were rather irritated at the repetative music.
There are several good walkthroughs available online, and I recommend keeping one bookmarked while you play - even if all you use it for is to find a room (or single sceen) that you missed, to find where the next puzzel is, or to decide which clues to write down (I wrote down many MANY unnecessary details because of items that cannot be carried...)

Great Game!
It does have a, I Believe, a low key Christian theme.
But, hey, they are a lot of games that have a Satanic Theme or orther such theme. I can ignore that.
The game is a great puzzle solving game. Many are quite challenging. There are many areas to explore.
As some have stated there is the freeze up glitch that can be fixed with a patch;
if Dreamcatcher hasn't fixed on the new shipments yet.
All in all it is great fun!
I have already preordered 'The Omega Stone.'
It will most likely have a Christian theme also....Get over it.

What a great game! People interested in Egypt will love it. Graphics were great, problems ranged from easy to really hard and had me thinking of solutions all day every day until I got through the game. Thankfully not blood and gore stuff so even kids could get involved. I've been busy trying to find out if a ROTS 2 game will be produced! Be prepared to gasp in awe at what you find in this game!

Absolutely SUPERB!

I liked it better than any of the Puzz 3D cd puzzles I played. There was a mystery every time you played. The middle east is probably one place I will NEVER visit but when you play this game you feel like you are there living it. The beauty of the artwork and genius of the Egyptians was stunning. Would recommend.

ROTS on a PC

Frankly, I'm a little disappointed with the PC version of this game - the graphics leave a lot to be desired, which seems to be a problem with a game labeled "for PC" that was developed on a Mac. And, yes, at times they are so dark that I also have to turn off all the lights to see what is on the screen. Also, after a month, I am still waiting for my hints book, so although I started the game, I've had to archive it till when the hints book arrives. And even though I have done a search, I have not found a walkthru on the internet. I do wish the game had a mapping feature - one that drew a map for you as you played the game. I had another game that did this, & it was very useful. My favourite game is still Riven, & I am anxiously awaiting for Myst 3: Exile.

FANTASTIC

This game was great! and the reason is because it is realistic and shows Egypt as it was. Anyone who says it has a hidden agenda (what hidden agenda?) or has poor graphics has never been to Egypt or studied anything about Egypt and just wants to complain!

All the bad reviews are from people who try to compare this game with others. There is no comparison....it stands alone because it is so real. It's like being transported back in time.

And what's this religious stuff guys? It's a game, and it doesn't try to make you do anything against your beliefs! Besides the Egyptians had many gods, this game just brings all that together in a game.

I loved this game, and you boo hooers.....shouldn't be so critical. Besides, I had no problem playing on my computer!

To all you reviewers whining about the christian elements of the game- Truthfully, would you object to the game if it suggested egypt's pagan theology was true? why is it people only mind "religious" themes if the themes are christian?

another dreamcatcher failure

this is another failure by dreamcatcher. the only company worse than them seems to be cryo. i worried when i heard dreamcatcher had taken over this game, since their games are generally poorly designed and executed. however, i decided to give it a shot, since the game was mostly designed before they took over. BIG MISTAKE. the game crashed and reset system settings more than once. the game controls are primitive -- they are similar to games 2-3 years old. the graphics are a joke. check the sky -- heavily banded. there is more wrong, but suffice it to say: don't waste your money.
