expecting a Pokemon Stadium 3

The game itself is good, if you were expecting another RPG, but for those of us who wanted a Pokemon Stadium compatible with Ruby and Saphire, it is no good. The only stadium thing this game has is a battle mode; nothing else.

NO WILD POKEMON!

I'm a super Pokemon fan! I've played more than 300 hours on my gameboy Pokemon game but I have to tell you that Colosseum sucks!I bought this game a week after it came out thinking that it would totally rock. I mean, running around in 3D, catching wild pokemon. That would be great! But the game is totally the opposite. To warn you about this game and also to punish all the dudes who made this game, I made up my "WHY THIS GAME SUCKS" list.

1. NO RUNNING AROUND CATCHING POKEMON!

2. NO MORE MINIGAMES

3. YOU CAN'T RENT POKEMON IN "BATTLE MODE"(THEY CHOOSE THE POKEMON FOR YOU)

4. YOU CAN'T WALK BETWEEN TOWNS.(IT'S ALWAYS AS IF "FLYING" TO A TOWN)

5. THE MAP IS REALY SMALL(ONLY 3 TOWNS).

6. THE MUSIC DOESN'T EVEN MATCH THE MOOD.

7. YOU CAN'T CHOOSE YOUR GENDER.

8. CHARACTERS DON'T SAY A "WORD"(THEY DON'T SPEAK, ITS ALL READING)

9. OH! DID I SAY.....NO RUNNING AROUND CATCHING POKEMON!

10. SOME POKEMON LOOK LIKE PAPER (NO SHADOWS WHATSOEVER)

11. BATTLES GRAPHICS TAKE TO LONG,(UP TO 20 MINUTES IN AN ALL 6 BATTLE)

In conclusion, it feels as if the desingers tried to make something different, something that everyone wanted, but they forgot what made pokemon so fun. They forgot the traditional "engine" of the game.

The Best Pokemon Game Yet!

This is definately a good choice if you want a game full of adventure, action, and pokemon! With great graphics, cool music, and more, Pokemon Colosseum is the best pokemon game yet!

Graphics-8/10: This game's graphics could be better for a gamecube game, but for a pokemon game, they are very cool. The people/pokemon look pretty good, but the battle moves look completely awesome!

Sound-7/10: Although the game's music can get a little annoying when you're in a town, you completely forget about that when you get in a battle! The battle music is incredible and once you start the battle, you don't wanna stop because the music is so addicting!

Game Length-7/10: The first time you play the game, it may seem like it will take FOREVER for the game to end. But the truth is, it really is a quick game. In fact, if you work hard enough, you can finish in maybe 5 days or less. But I do think that the makers of the game could've made it a little longer...

Fun Level-10/10: Yes, you read right. A 10 out of 10! The minute you fight that first battle, you won't want to put the game down! It is still has the classic game style, like battling and completing special missions. But since you can steal other people's pokemon and open their hearts, it gives the game a fun new twist!

Story-9/10: Greatest story yet! After over 3 sets of games, they finally gave a pokemon game something new and more fun! Instead of your quest of being a pokemon master and collecting EVERY pokemon, you have to snag and purify pokemon from their shadow self. Like I said before, it gives the game a fun new twist!

Gamer Friendly-9/10: The game is still pretty simple. It has all of the basic controlls, but now, you have to go to a special computer to save instead of saving whenever you want. And to me, that gets a little annoying...but it is still simple and fun. And since there is pretty much NO violence, it makes a perfect game for anyone!

Overall-10/10: Although some people may think that the old story was better and easier, this game is just as fun as the others! It is very addicting and to me, the best pokemon game yet! But maybe, Nintendo will do even better next time. Although that will be very hard to do! ^_^

Raj Venkat's Pokemon colosseum review

Pokemon Colosseum is a very good game. Have you ever wanted to see your Ruby/Sapphire/fire-red/leaf-green team in 3d? Well now you can! There are 2 modes:Story mode and Battle mode. In the story mode you are the hero who "snags" shadow pokemon, pokemon who's hearts are closed by their trainers to make them stronger. You start off with Umbreon and Espeon. You later get a partner who can see the dark aura of shadow pokemon. Then you must snag and purify pokemon throughout the mode. In the Battle mode you must use either your ruby/sapphire/fire-red/leaf-green or your story mode team to fight in colosseums and Mt.Battle

Pros:
- Ho-oh (obtainable by beating Battle mode Mt.Battle with story mode team)

-After beating Realgam tower you unlock the trading center that lets you trade story mode pokemon with GBA Pokemon version

-Graphics: THe graphics of the Pokemon put me in awe

-The hero has a "dark" background

-Battle mode is very challenging for those who say Colosseum is too easy

Cons:
-No wild Pokemon, so no choice in which Pokemon you want on your team

-Cannot play multiplayer without GBA-GC link cable, gameboys, and a pokemon version

-Story mode not very challenging

-No break from trainers, there is one in every corner

Buyer Beware

While Colisseum's single player element is mildly entertaining, it's the multiplayer battle mode that has really disappointed me.

Not only do you need the Colisseum game, but ALL human opponents will need to own a Game Boy Advance, a copy of Ruby or Sapphire with a saved game on it, and a link cable. There is no other way to play multiplayer.

I can't believe the greed Nintendo is showing by forcing their customers to purchase all this unecessary hardware. A stand-alone multiplayer mode such as the one in Stadium for the N64 should've been included. I like GBA connectivity as an *option*, but not when it's forced down the consumers' throat. This is a spit in the face of their customer base, IMHO.

My boys were absolutely estatic over receiving this game at Christmas time, until they tried to play against each other.

Please note that while the game does allow for multiple players to battle, it will NOT allow for them all to use the GameCube controller to do so. They only way to have more than one player in battle is to have a separate GameBoy Advance or SP, the required cable to hook these handhelds to the Cube, and one of the matching handheld games, Green, Ruby, Saphire, etc...

Not much fun out of the box if you have one eager wanna be player waiting anxiously for their turn to play.

What a disappointment

I have been a Pokemon game fan for a long time, and I was really, really looking forward to this game. As I played it, I tried to convince myself that I like it, but...

I was hoping that this would simply be a new and improved version of the Stadium Games. But you can't even play against other people unless they have a GameBoy Advance and a GC-GBA Link Cable! Not to mention you have to go through the annoying process of registering your team with said cable, unlike the Stadium games where you could go through the list and choose the pokemon you wanted. Or you can use your team from the RPG mode, but you can only catch so many Pokemon in the RPG.

Speaking of the Story Mode, that is where my main problem was. Maybe I'm too old-school, but I really don't like the double-battles nearly as much as the one-on-one. The character designs (some of them are rediculous) aren't my cup of tea, either, but the game still could have been great despite that.

Maybe it's because I thought since it was on the GameCube, there'd be a lot more depth, but it's just the same as the GameBoy games except 3D. Same old fixed camera angle, same bland dialogue... Don't get me wrong, the 3D graphics are gorgeous, and many of the Colosseums are wonderful to battle in with great music, but for some reason this game is missing something.

I think that something is this: The game is nothing but battling after battling. If it were more interactive, that might be better, but all you're doing is giving commands to your pokemon. And while the animation sequences are great, they really slow things down and after you've seen 'em a thousand times it gets old. Unlike the GameBoy games where there were places to explore, PokeDexes to complete, and in R/S even Pokemon Contests, this game is nothing but defeating bosses and snatching their pokemon. Some of the bosses are pretty tough, too.

To summarize, usually when I buy a game I play it to the finish. But I stopped playing Colosseum a month ago, and I only got as far as the Under. I want to like this game, and despite my complaints I AM a pokemon game fan, but this game just didn't cut it for me. Save your money, or at least wait 'till the price goes waaaay down.

Cooooooooool!

Not a True Pokemon game. [actually a 16 year old writer]

Ok. Let me say this. The true beauty of the old Pokemon games was their AMAZING expandibility. For example, instead of having a set 'party' of characters to choose from to fight, you can have almost infinite combonations of HUNDREDS of characters. And some pretty cool ones at that. When I was younger I was a HUGE pokefanatic. I loved the games and other pokemon-related things. Eventually, I FINALLY regained my senses and have been 'off' Pokemon for years. NOW, at 16, I hadn't played a new one since Red Version. So I borrowed my friend's Ruby Version and was really startled by just how much fun it was. I even became slightly addicted once again to the whole concept. Yay! I loved my Mawile! So cool! BUT, now, as that is decently UNrelated to the subject, I will tell you about Colosseum.

Colosseum ruined the Pokemon genre. I'm not kidding. And I love the Pokemon games. BUT, this game totally ruined the main concept. CATCHING POKEMON. You can't do it! You just steal "SPECIFIC" Pokemon from other trainers! This doesn't work for the series! The most fun part of the games WAS catching the pokemon and WAS arranging them however you like and NOT getting specified ones and being forced to use the same terrible move OVER AND OVER again in battles JUST to get them to 'purify' so that you can REALLY use them.

Also about this game, you CAN'T EXPLORE. Pokemon was all about being a little kid running around some country trying to catch really cool Pokemon and become the 'best trainer.' In this game, you can't explore. You aren't a little kid. You can't wander the countryside. You just 'drive' from city to city. And you don't even get to DO the driving.

FIGHTING. Ruined. In Pokemon, there was originally one kind of fight. A one on one battle. Now in Ruby Version, they introduced the Double Battles [two pokemon against two pokemon at the same time] but they weren't the MAIN fighting. The true 'glory' of early games was having to make decisions about your Pokemon and organizing them in such a way that you could have an advantage. In this game, you just keep both on, and ALL STRATEGY IS GONE. The originals were great, but now, it's not even Pokemon. It's just hitting your opponent over and over with no strategy involved. Also, the game was unique because it was different from other RPG's [yes, pokemon is an RPG] because it was one on one. The Double Battles are a nice idea, but they don't work. They are EXCRUTIATINGLY boring, easy, and heck, the graphics REALLY AREN'T THAT GOOD. All the Pokemon from earlier games were just picked up out of the N64 Stadium games and just stuck in here with no improvements. And don't be one of those "Graphic Geeks." Graphics NEVER make the game. That's why I can go back and play the original StarFox on my Super Nintendo [which sits right next to my Gamecube], and it is still super fun.

ALSO, the MULTIPLAYER IS DEAD. You must have a Game boy advance AND a Pokemon Ruby or Sapphire pack IN every game boy to even PLAY with your friends! THAT'S RIDICULOUS! Look at this! Gamecube - $100. Colosseum - $50 [at beginning]. GBA x FOUR - $340 [or so]. GBA Pokemon games x FOUR - $120. HOLY CRAP!! For a series MOSTLY aimed at kids, this comes to an INSANE 610 DOLLARS BETWEEN YOU AND YOUR FRIENDS!! AND THE MULTIPLAYER [and game] ARE DEFINITELY MORE TERRIBLE THAN GOOD!! It's just outrageous.

CONCLUSION: Pokemon Colosseum is, to date, the WORST Pokemon game yet. If you want to play a good Pokemon game, buy Ruby or Sapphire, or buy the new remakes of the originals for Game Boy. Or [If you are intent on getting a Gamecube game] go buy The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Smash Bros. Melee, Pikmin 1 or 2, Viewtiful Joe, Tales of Symphonia, Baten Kaitos, Paper Mario, Alien Hominid, ANYTHING, just to keep your hands off this sorry game title. Please listen, I was dooped by the reviews on here when I decided to buy this. And now, I'm selling it.
