Lousy Voiceovers

I was very disappointed in the quality of the voices for this game. The voices were high pitched and hard to understand. The voices did not fit the characters of the game. Did not feel like finishing the game because of the unbelievable character voices. Save your money on this game, wait for a better version.

The graphics on this game are beautiful. The water shimmers and rolls and the boats look crisp. The problem comes in gameplay. I got to a certain mission in the story and I got stuck and soon lost interest in getting unstuck. Gameplay tends to be redundant. Ride, shoot, sink, repeat. This is how it plays out. The problem comes in the very idea of the game. There is only so much you can do with boats. I think they should have put more racing into the game. It needs something to break up the monotony.
I didn't get to play this multiplayer, perhaps that is what would make this game seem better to me. I can't imagine, however, that would break away from the already set pattern of Ride, shoot, sink, repeat. It would only be your friends sinking instead of computer AI.
It makes me sad this game isn't better. It looks so good on screen.

I was initially really excited to play this game. The demos made this game look amazing. I was hoping for a boat version of Twisted Metal II. Instead I got a boat version of Twisted Metal 1. Not nearly as good, and definately not worth $... The boats are all basically the same. The missions go from way to easy one minute to suicidal the next on the same difficulty setting.
Do yourself a favor and get all of these games first:
Halo
Max Payne
Genma Onimusha

I personally think this is a cool game. I had no expectations coming into the game like "this is twisted metal on water", or things like that so I was not disappointed. I usually don't try to guess what a game is like and see if it can stand on its own merits.

Anyway the most ackward part of the game is getting use to how the boats handle. I was "expecting" arcade style controls, and what I got were more simulator type controls and the boats actually handle as you might expect a boat to handle. Takes longer to turn, not as tight, wakes slow you down, etc. After getting use to this I liked it.

The only odd thing is that the hardness seems to be inconsistent. When I am playing on an easy level sometimes it seems "easy" others it seems more difficult. But it really is not annoying it keeps things interesting.

The best graphics in this game is by far the water and its fluid motions, almost gets you sea sick. It is really cool.

This is a fun game to play, the story mode may not take too long to complete, but head to head and eventually on-line capabilities will keep this a hot title for some time.

If your wongering what Xbox game to get get this one. The graphics are wonderful. if you rent this game and only play th first couple levels you might thinck it's pretty easy. But after about seven levels it gets harder. I seriously recomend it to any gamer.

Awesome water effects but....

The water effects in this game really and truely are awesome. No game has ever matched the detail that water is treated with in this game. Having said that, all you do is drive a boat. Sometimes the boats get faster, sometimes better armed, but it's still just a boat.

Now, the game is an interesting concept and it is fun to play, but the replay value on it does wear thin. Additionally, the multi-player is tough to play because unless all 4 of the players are experienced it becomes a bloodbath for the one who knows how to play. Which granted can be fun.

Bottom line is this. If you can get this game for a good price then by all means get it. It is worth about... and will provide more then enough replay value. But as with many games, once you stop playing it for a while, it is not one that you will long to go back to.

Blood Wake is a high-speed gunboat warfare game. The most impressive aspect of the game is the water physics. The effects are truly amazing and highly believable. The graphics are also pretty darn good. It keeps a fast pace and it is a welcome break when you want a change of pace and to try something different. While this game isn't necessarily highly engaging, it can be a lot of fun. Now that the price has come down a bit, it is worth the purchase.

I think that BLOODWAKE is an exellent game with great graphics and extensive gameplay. To put it in simpler words it rules! The game is so awesome with the boat fighting its sickrat!

This is a wondeful game, but its few major flaws keep it away from #1. Those flaws are 1 it is repetitive. 2 there is probably not enough modes to satisfy for long. and 3 is that it is really, really hard.
