I loved this game. I couldn't put it down. I loved how you had to use all of the features of the DS and solve mysteries. I want to see a sequel. I am also looking forward to Hotel Dusk Room 215 (made by the same people)

The only thing bad was how short it was. I want more!

Nice but short

The game is cool and have some new ideas on the other hand its short and it gets annoying sometimes, like when you have to repeat everything you have done.
Overall it worth trying.

Great game

I enjoyed this game very much. I do agree with others that it is too short a game. Still I enjoy these kinds and I wish there were more like this out there to play. My 11yr old son has watched me play it and says it is too slow going for him.

Great

This is a great game, probably the best out for the DS yet.
Overall, this is a must have!

This game was the best, i loved every minute, the puzzles were great, It is neat how they use features of the ds you couldnt imagine, like using the top as a stamp and stamping the bottom screen, and reflecting the iamge of the top screen onto the bottom screen. Whoever created these puzzles, has a great mind and i hope to see a sequel! Because this one ended so soon. I would say buy it, it is not super high priced like some of the ds games, and it is probably the best one, so definitely buy!!!

The concept behind Trace Memory wasn't that bad. I actually sort of enjoyed the game while playing it. Nitpicky on the details, like other detective/clue searching games on the DS, but man did this title get overshadowed by the likes of Phoenix Wright and Trauma Center.

I think Trace Memory wanted to be unique, like Phoenix Wright and Trauma Center. And the graphic work and gameplay really wasn't that bad. In the end, I think the shadow cast by the DS juggernaut Phoenix Wright was just too big. The price at which Trace Memory is available masks an actually decent game.

I bought mine for $7.99, brand new. I bought it a while ago, and I was thinking to myself, my goodness this must be a terrible game. But give it a try. There's a possibility that I'm writing a sympathy review for this one because it wasn't given much of a shot, or maybe cause I just wrote such a derisive one about Pokemon. Haha.

But seriously, Trace Memory isn't so bad. Not the greatest, but not too bad. For game details, read some of the other reviews. I'm not big on giving out too many game details.

Trace Memory can be found, sadly, for a whopping $12.99, or less. Man, I feel sorry for Trace Memory, and it's not even a person. Poor Trace Memory...

Okay, but way too hard.

At first, this game was captivating, interesting and fun. But as I progressed, I realized I couldn't go a second of playing this game without using a guide or walkthrough. It's just too hard.

This game starts with you becoming lost on an island where your parents are supposed to be. They had abondoned you when you were a baby, leaving you with questions unanswered. As you wait for you caretaker to come back from searching the island you get nervous. And after a while you go and search for your caretaker and your parents. The game is all about searching for clues to get them back. Many of the puzzles require guessing. And a lot of them are extremely difficult.

I don't recommend getting this game because after an hour of playing this game I barely did anything. For me, it's a slow-paced game, but I can see how others might enjoy it.

Great game, but too short and a bit aggrivating.

I absolutely love puzzle games, especially ones with beautiful artwork like this one did. However, I did think that a bit of the repetition in the typing was a bit overdone, and I thought it was kind of a pain that you had to sit there and do three things before you could pick up an object you know will be needed later. I also was dissapointed on how short the game was. I beat it within two sittings, and those were relatively short sittings. I am hoping that there will be a sequel that will be longer, with less boring dialouge, and harder challenges.

A PC Style Mystery on a Portable System.

Trace Memory is a unique gaming experience that offers DS owners something they haven't seen before. How much or how a little a person enjoys change will have a lot to do with the amount of enjoyment they get from this title.
The plot is interesting enough. A 14-year-old girl travels to a private island in order to find the scientist father she thought was dead. Along the way she meets several characters, including the ghost of a young boy, and must solve a mystery.
The graphics are very good compared to other DS offerings. The music does a little to set the mood, but the overall sound is not that impressive. All dialogue is in the form of written text, which somewhat hurts the amount of player immersion into the title. There are times that the deeper parts of the game create a Resident Evil type atmosphere, but this is severely hindered by reading line after line of printed text on the small DS screen.
The gameplay is what sets this portable title apart from the others. It is basically a text-driven, point-and-click PC adventure/mystery title. While I would not be impressed with it as a PC release, it does come across impressively on the DS. Players use the touch screen and stylus to inspect and manipulate objects in order to solve puzzles. The use of a touch screen makes the game much more interesting that the traditional mouse click system for this type of game.
The puzzles do not take a masters degree to solve, and gameplay can be a little linear at times. Only certain areas of rooms can be closely inspected, which often gives players strong hints about where they need to be looking for items. Trace Memory is not a long title in terms of playable hours, but offers plenty of satisfaction during the first playthrough.
Fans of PC mystery games will probably find this title short and easy, but may have a little fun with the touch screen features. Gamers like myself, who have gotten used to a steady diet of platformers and fighters on handheld systems, may be refreshed by the different style this game offers.
Trace Memory doesn't bring anything revolutionary to gaming, but it does present a lesser-known genre to a vast number of gamers who may never have experienced it before. The title is worth playing just for the experience, but it is not necessarily a "must buy" title. I applaud developers for bringing this title to the DS and look forward to similar offerings, but the poor sound quality, lack of spoken dialogue, and limited free-roaming gameplay keep it from being something that all gamers need to have in their collection.

Finally a game that actually uses the DS.

I got this game for only ten bucks and was not disappointed. It uses all the abilities of the DS and has a fairly decent storyline, good visuals, and overall is an addicting game. At least for me.

Definately pick it up if you find it, and are into mystery/rpg/puzzle games.
