Fun but short

Call of Duty 3 for the Wii is really fun. The wii remote is the gun and you aim and shoot. The whole game is really fun but it is way to short. I rented it and beat the game in 4 days. The game provides no challenge but is super. You can buy but it will probably be ignored within a week.
Lots of action

This game keeps moving. It's easy to get lost in the action and lose track of time. You don't get killed at every corner you turn so it's not frustrating in that respect. Controls take a while to get used to. Couple of cons, occasionally waste time trying to figure out how to get out of a blown up house, 2nd the mounted machine gun is non-intuitive. When you lift UP on the butt end the gun nozzle (front) should point down. It's backwards in the game, you basically have to ignore the gun and concentrate on the cursor. It's a little weird having the Sarge tell you to lead the charge when you haven't got any ammo left. Large selection of weapons to shoot from single shot scoped rifles to machine guns, occassional hand to hand, binoculars, calling in tank rounds, etc. Overall lots of fun, I may even let my son play it sometime :)
Wii controls make shooter game more natural

Call of Duty 3 is a fun game. I myself have never been good a first person shooter games and was doubtful on whether I would like this game. However, the ability to aim with the remote made it seem much more natural and fun for me. I was able to start feeling like a pro after the first couple missions.
The game has some rough spots. Its frustrating to use the reomote motions to do things such as plant explosices as the game doesn't seem to pick up the motions very well, in those situations. I found myself frustrated having to repeat motions alot. The game is also shorter than I expected as I had just finished Zelda and was expecting more gameplay but the couple weeks of fun I got out of it (one mission or so a day) was worth it over all.
Another great shooting game for the Wii!!

I remember playing a Call of Duty demo a couple of years ago on my Playstation 2 and being completely turned off because of the awkward controls. So when my sister suggested I get this game, my first thought was "I'm not about to spend $40 on a game that is difficult to play". But I love shooting games and I was in the mood to buy one. Call of Duty 3 was the only shooting game in the case so I went ahead and bought it.
When I first started the game, I was amazed at the graphics. Having played a few other Wii games, I knew that the graphics would be nice but the little details in this particular game wowed me. This game also has quite a few "cut scenes" which I like to see in video games because "cut scenes" tell a story and give meaning to an otherwise plain shooting game. As other reviewers mentioned, you can't skip through these which can be a pain but none of them are too, too long.
The game is divided into missions. You have a starting point and a starting objective. Once completing this objective, you move onto other objectives until you "beat" that particular level. Your game saves after completing objectives so if you die on a particular stage, you don't have to start from the beginning of the level. Which leads me to my next point. I love that you don't have a certain amount of damage you can take before you die. If you get shot, you may not be effected at all. If you take a few shots in a row, a screen will appear that says you need to take cover before receiving more damage. All you have to do is hide behind an object before this screen disappears and your health returns back to normal.
There are a few different guns available. You do eventually run out of ammo but all you have to do is run to a dead soldier and you can take their gun. Some guns are easier to use than others. Some take longer to reload. Some shoot one bullet at a time. Some shoot multiple bullets at a time.
Now when it comes to controls, here is where it can get a little tricky. In the beginning of the game, you're allowed to practice shooting guns and throwing grenades. Thank jeebus for the practice mode because it took me quite some time to figure everything out especially considering that I've played other shooting games whose controls are very different from this game. You obviously use the Wii remote AND the nunchuk (which can be intimidating to some people but it really isn't that difficult). There are a couple of scenes where you have to use the remote and the nunchuk for other things besides shooting, aiming, and running. When you plant explosives, you have to use the nunchuk to "set up" the explosives. These particular scenes can be a little awkward because you have to turn the nunchuk sideways to use it. Sometimes you have to physically fight with your enemies and you have to move the remote/nunchuk rapidly. Again, a little awkward. There are also scenes in which you drive vehicles. You place the remote and the nunchuk in a steering wheel position and drive that way. I have some difficulty with this part but you eventually get used to it.
I haven't played this game long enough to comment on the length of the game but I will say that it definitely is a replayable game so the length doesn't really bother me. Would I recommend this game? Definitely. Don't let the controls intimidate you. You'll learn them in no time.
[Update 10/29/07: I just finished the game and the other reviewers who said that it's short are absolutely correct. And I mean REALLY short. Had I known how short it was, I probably wouldn't given this game 4 stars rather than 5.]

Excellent game to play. Fun, fast and full of typical Call of Duty action. The Wii controller adds a whole other interactive element to Call of Duty which is exactly what the Wii system is all about. Make sure to have a steady hand though. Aiming and holding the fast moving screen with Wii controller is a serious challenge. TIP: hold a pillow undern your hand to keep it steady, especially when confronting a large amount of enemies with some kind of scoped weapon.
Don't even bother

I absolutely love the call of duty series, but do not buy this game for the Wii.
The graphics are pretty bad even if the Wii isn't a pwerhouse graphics console, look at Legend of Zelda, those graphics are pretty good for the Wii.
The gameplay isn't so bad, but one of the most frustrating things about this game is aiming. Aiming is clunky and if you whip around to fast to get at someone behind you, the sensor might go off screen and send you turning. It gets really annoying. I played it at a friends house and put it down after maybe 10 minutes.
Bottom Line - Do not waste your money on this game. I don't think the Wii was meant for shooters, it is for fun family and party games. That's why I have a Wii and a 360.
Not worthy of the title "Call of Duty"

This game is nothing like the Call of Duty series that I'm a big fan of on the PC (created by a different game design studio). There is no multiplayer mode so all you have is the single player campaign which has nothing even close to the depth of Call of Duty for the PC. On top of that the graphics are poor. I found it hard to tell the difference between a brick wall and an enemy soldier. Maybe I'm spoiled from the excellent graphics of my desktop PC but if you want to play Call of Duty on a budget, do yourself a favor and grab a $40.00 AGP (Radeon 9250 or Geforce FX) 128MB video card and the original Call of Duty PC game. I promise it will be way more fun (with better graphics and exciting multiplayer game play) for around the price of this Call of Duty 3 Wii game alone. For FPS games stick to the PC but for something fun and well suited to the Wii try Rayman Raving Rabbids - it's fun and really shows off what the Wii is all about.
Controls are not the best.

This game has the potential to be very good, and on the other systems I'm sure it is so, but for the Wii the controls degrade from full enjoyment. For example, you use the wiimote to change your view and shoot, while you use the nunchuck to walk and strafe. The jerky motions of the wiimote, which is difficult to properly stabilize, give the player the impression that they are a one-legged, drunken monkey, all the while trying to peg screaming Germans. If you buy this game, don't buy it for Wii!

This is the best Wii FPS so far. Much better visual and control wise than Resident Evil. Gameplay is actually rather difficult so it makes you want to try and try again. Must have in any Wii game collection
