I played the Quake III arena game online in it's testing phases but haven't played anything like it before or since. Then I saw this game and saw the similarities between the two so I bought it. The games are nearly identical, in play and in design. Unreal's graphics are outstanding, the use of lighting sets the mood for each level and the detail of the weapons fire is really remarkable. Once you fire a shot you can see it's path all the way to the opposite end of the room that you are in. The game play does take some getting used to but you can customize the skill level. This game really deserves it's Mature rating. If you hit your opponent with a rocket, for instance, he explodes into bloody pieces right before your eyes! There is a way to turn this feature off for the faint of heart or for the parents of younger gamers. In my opinion this game is worth the money and gets a "Worth a Buy!" from me.

Hello! Let me just start by saying that I have this game on the PC so I will be sharing what is cool about the game.

This is one of the best FPS's ever made! it has slick levels with smooth textures, weapons are really a plus in this even though they are basiclly the ones from Unreal but all buffed up, Sound is awesome with the bots taunting you after they blow your head off! And the music is very cool! control's kick major but deffentlly if you have a USB mouse and Keyboard! DualShock 2 is ok! For gamers who don't play PC FPS it's great! other wise get a USB Mouse and Keyboard. Now comes the MP (Multi-Player) the Online was one of the best things about the PC version but since the PS2 version does not have Internet it's ok just get a MultiTap and 2 Extra DS2 controllers and your set for some 4-Player Madness! over all this is a great FPS if you have a PS2 buy it! I did!

A must have for any Playstation 2 owner!

There is a lot of garbage out for the playstation 2, like Orphen: Scion of Sorcery and Wild Wild Racing, but this is one of those gems that reminds us why we got the playstation 2. This game focus is on death match compitition instead of misson based levels like Time Spliters. The graphics are very well done, even better then the PC version. I did notice the fram rate is slower then the PC version though. The control is a departure from most Console first person shooters, but a bit hard for most gamers to get in to. There are plenty of conrtol settings to chose from if you need perfect control. My personal favorite is setting B, but it's most likly differnt for each player. If you are better with the computer settings, you can always hook up your keyboard and mouse to the system. Once you've learned the control, you will play like the games it's an extention of your body. The game play is very fast paced and your always on the move as opposed to games like Medal of Honor where the stealthy ones win. It has simply the best multi-player in a first person shooter, and would be excellent for having a couple of buddys over. This game is defenitly not for little kids though. People get blown up, decapitated ect. If you are lucky enough to have a playstation 2, buy it.

I just wish that there was more to the multiplayer. Capture the flag and deathmatch are great, in fact all I ever play on the PC is capture the flag, but it would be great to play assault or maybe domination every now and then. The maps they give for cap the flag multiplayer are all new ones.. which also kinda got me down. I would love to play facing worlds, eternal, or maybe even the last command (which isnt even single player in the game). Dont think im bringing this game down. I bought it, and I love it. Im still trying to unlock all the characters. Its just the multiplayer needs some tweaking.

THIS GAME ROCKS!

So far for the PS2 I have played 2 1st person shooters, time splitters and unreal tournament. UT is so much better! I liked TS because it had good graphics, lots of weapons and decent controls. Unreal has all those things and SO much more!

Unreal Tournament has lots of weapons, you dont get to pick wich ones are avalible in each deathmatch like you can in time splitters, but there is a big variety.

The best part of this game is the A.I., I have never seen it so good! The bots don't just come at you relentlessly, they accually HUNT you. I fired at a bot, and he fired back, so i ducked down a corridor, to wait for him to come after me, so i could gun him down, but instead of him just comming after me, he snuck up behind me and blew my head off!

I have never seen a game with this level of A.I.. The bots want to live, if you are killing them, they run away, and get a medkit, then come back for revenge.

the controls in this game are good, it takes a few mins to learn them, but after 5 mins of gameplay, you are a master.

I rented this game last night, and I just bought it online, this game rocks.

Highly recommended to get the PS2 8MB memory card, you will need it to fully play this game

I skepticly picked up this game on the advice of a friend and was blown away. I never even heard of it on the PC and upon starting to play it I can't put it down. If you want to fail out of school or have no life, get this game. Simply amazing.

Wow I was impressed with this title when I rented it. I don't normally like 1st person shooters and that and haven't for some time, it's just been overdone. I have been playing pc games for over 10 years and still remember the original castle wolfenstein (pre-3d) and 1st person shooters are always the same it seems, lame or no story line and 'you've been sent here to kill all the mutants, good luck' kind of game play. Boy this is different, I really sat down and played this game for some time, in fact once I got started it was hard to turn this game off, until I was done with this level of this or that level of that. I put a considerable amount of time into this game and found that I really liked this game. The capture the flag mode was fun, I completed a couple of the modes on this game, which should go to show you how much I actually did play this game. There were a few other modes that can be played such as domination, and assault that is along with the capture-the-flag and the deathmatch mode. All of these game modes were fun. It can be fairly violent, so I wouldn't necessarily reccommend it for youngsters but teens-adults should enjoy this game. If you've enjoyed this game on the pc I now know why...

OK, but hard to control

I really loved Unreal Tournament for the PC, so I was excited to see it come out in PS2 format. I was impressed with how close the PS2 version was to the PC version, but extremely disappointed with how difficult it is to control the character.

First Person Shooters, are, after all, about moving your character around and killing the opposition, and it is just too difficult to control your character using the PS2 controllers.

For those of us who cannot run Unreal Tournament on their computers because of Video Cards or for whatever reason this version of the game is better than nothing. The game runs pretty well under the PS2 graphics engine and is a very good game for two players. The game is great full of weapons and fighting to make anyone who likes first person shooters to enjoy themselves. You have the ability to choose your opponents fighting ability starting at novice, and on to Inhuman. Which for any gamer should act as a good challenge, depending on your skill level that is. I played this game on computer and yes I will say while impressive on some other machines your not guaranteed it will run. On the PS2 you will never have to worry about a warning of low memory or deleting something to make space for the room the PC version takes. While there are other shooter games for PS2. This game offers pretty good multiplayer games from deathmatch to Capture the flag. Along with Domination, in which you hold positions and the longer you hold them the more points you get which if you hold the three positions in the map you get more points about every 1.5 seconds. The last Multiplayer variant is Assault. You play twice in one contest of this game. first you have to complete an objective and the other time you have to defend the objective, it is an extremely fun variant. The game is also great in one player, in which human players are replaced by AI that is good enough to help you win any firefight. I sadly must recommend that you get a memory card with this so you can save your progress. But the game is fun and a must own if you ask my opinion.

I played this on the computer first. I thought it was the best until I Played it on PS2. It is pretty much the same but you can play multiplayer. THIS GAME RULZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
