When i bought this game my first impression was that it was kind of jerky while loading. I feel that this game is fun and very entertaining, but i feel that it could have been made better than this. I like how the caddy tells your about the green unlike other games like mario golf but i felt that mario golf is a much smoother game than this one even though it is a N64 game. Well if you like golf games and don't really mind having a game tha's not the smoothest then this game would be great for you. Enjoy.

Fun for awhile

The first couple of weeks I owned this game, I played 36 holes everyday. There are a lot of different types of matches, tourneys, etc. After 3 weeks, I had beaten the "boss" golfer and opened all of the other tournaments up. So basically, the point of the game now is to fill up my trophy room. It's a little tedious. So it's up to you,... By the way, lot's of people complain about the caddies, and after a few games I turned off the "commentary" in the options menu. Ironically, I found it a little too quiet. It was kind of disconcerting, so I turned them back on!

Great game... even for non-golf fans!

I've never liked golf- I hate playing it, I hate watching it on tv, but I LOVE this game! It's addictive to watch your career skyrocket in the Story Mode, going from amateur to full-on professional within months as you compete in different tournaments. The gameplay is engaging and entertaining, with fun characters and beautiful courses. Some people have been saying that the caddies are annoying-- but there are 6 caddies to choose from, ranging from very supportive to very critical. There are not all know-it-alls. For me, there's only one drawback- the incredible amount of slowdown. The game seems to drag out longer than it has to be because of all the waiting for each hole to load. But seriously, despite the slowdown, this game is very, very fun and a must-have for anyone's PS2 collection, even if you don't like golf.

Great graphics, control and gameplay. While there are no professionals or actual courses, for pure and realistic gameplay this is head and shoulders above Tiger Woods golf. Lots and lots of playability. Two thumbs up!

Frustrating at first...

All in all, not a bad game. It's a bit frustrating at first due to the fact that your irons do not hit as far as advertised. Your caddie and opponents comments get a bit tired due to the lack of variety, but this can be remedied by listening to the stereo while playing. ....

I am addicted to this game!

I own 5 games for my ps2 (including SSX and Madden) and I play this one way more than any other. It is not that SSX and Madden and others are bad games, it is just that Swing away golf is so well done. The gameplay is so incredibly deep that I don't see an end to my gameplay in site. I was a big fan of the Hot shots series so this game is the next natural progression. As previously mentioned, the initial learning curve may be a little steep but I find the learning curve on SSX to be steeper. One note of caution: play with the sound off because the voices / caddies get old real fast.

For those of you that enjoy a game of golf by yourself or with a friend, then skip this game! Loading time is way ridiculous for the PS2 loads up a different camera angle every time you swing. A major time drag. Also, physics in the short game is non-realistic. Anyone know that an 8-yard chip off the green is not that difficult. And anyone who has played this game can tell you that the first par 3 on the first course is almost impossible to get on the green without coming up short. So, in my opinion, go out an get Hot Shots Golf 2 for the PS1 and you'll have way more fun.

Its supposed to be funny. Wouldn't like to play with alot of you. It frustrates you when they talk about breakfast? LOL. I thought that was great! This game is already being worn out in our house, we haven't even opened some of the others we got for Christmas.

I really like this game. It has its quirks, but overall, its a very fun game to play. I love the graphics. The comments are a little hard to bear all the time with the caddie and all, but thats not too bad. Sure it may be hard to chip on the green if you dont know how to do it, it can be done fairly simply. Its a great game, but like most games, I would rent it first to see if you like it. Spend a day or two learning it and you will be hooked.

This game COULD HAVE BEEN AWESOME. This game is really fun to play, it has good graphics, nice sound, and easy controls. BUT, I cannot get over the lag times. This game even lags during the opening! How any company could release this game is beyond me. I have gone through 12 or 15 holes, even with all the lag, only to have the game freeze on me. But, I still play it. BUYER BEWARE! Do not buy this game unless you have a LOT of patience.
