Being still on pre-order, I can't say much but has been said. However, I can add some details which I have wandered upon. From what it appears so far, Silent Scope is Time Crisis with the sniper element mixed in. Also, I have caught mention of a supposed hardware lightgun with a snipe scope attached. Overall, it is a title to keep a eye on and I give it 5 stars on anticipation level.

I have played this game at an arcade and all I came say is "wow!". This game is a little hard at first but when you get the hang of it it's quite simple. Time is a major factor and if you lose time that's it game over. The levels are fun and at the arcade there was a shootout mode and that was really cool.
the best game EVER

OK, I played this game in the arcade and it was the absolute best game I had ever played! Graphically this game was supreme!Smoothe round surfaces, laser sights near your head, it is the closest thing you can get without being there. It is one of the main reasons I'm buying PS2. Preorder this game now! Be cause it is certain to be sold out!
No light gun!!!

Just to start: I love the arcade game, it's the biggest gun innovation since Operation Wolf. I think the biggest thrill is the scoped gun, and was eagerly waiting to see what Konami was going to do with the port. This is what I found on the Bulletin board at the Konami website (notice it's written by someone from Konami):
>RE: Silent Scope gun? >Author: tako (---.konami.co.jp) >Date: 07-07-00 17:48 > >Hi folks, >I am sorry to say that there is no gun for Silent Scope. There >are many reasons for this, but the simple one is that it would be >too expensive to do for the home market. >In the arcade, Silent Scope has to use 2 processors. One for the >game screen and one for the scope in the gun. A simillar sort of >set-up would need to be done in the gun or share the processing >power of the main chip in the PS2 or DC to do this. Which causes >slow-down. Also information has to be relayed back from the >screen and the gun all the time to track where it is being fored >at, not like your standard light gun, which only fires off a >signal when the trigger is pulled. > >In any case, getting back to the expense, putting in a chip in >the gun and having a screen in the gun, ie a LCD one that is >color and would need resolution that is better than a Gameboy, >would become a really expensive piece of equipment. > > Sorry about that folks, > > tako
I still might get the game, though...

this has to be the best game ever made. I feel that the only drawback of this game will be that fact that you dont have an actual gun scope to look through, otherwise, this is a definite best seller. :)
A bit difficult to get used to, nevertheless fun

I bought this game when I picked up my PS2 on launch day, and I was a bit disappointed the first time I played it but it took time to get used to. While the graphics and sound are good, they are of PS1 quality. I loved the arcade version, but the PS2 version is a bit difficult to get used to as you use the controller to move the reticle, much like the old Area 51 game for PS1 (I guess it would have cost a bit more to include a scoped HK PSG-1 rifle with a cable to hook it to the console). I expected a lot more from a game for the state of the art gaming system, but its still fun. Just save your money till the price drops a bit.

This games is a must have. If you are like me, and you spent all of your time in Metal Gear running around with the sniper rifle, you will love this game. It is extremely fast paced and exciting. There aren't many stages but it is awesome! Buy it if you love to look through a scope and sniper away.
Great game! Awful on console!

Since Silent Scope 2 was out in the arcades and if there are two arcade machines of Silent Scope 2, you would be able to play with your buddies or even duel with them.
Now with Konami's release of Silent Scope for DC and PS2, it was perhaps the biggest let down from Konami's game. Dont get me wrong... Metal Gear Solid was the greatest and still the greatest game! Even using the PSG1 was more fun than playing silent scope.
If you really liked the arcade versions of Silent Scope and Dark Sillowette, the console versions would just be a little let down since you cant use the large sniper gun. (although it would be a novelty to have!!)
My reason for only one star is the bad transition from Arcade to Console.
