When I first saw this game I really wanted to get it.The bad part is theirs no light gun, but the good part is you can zoom in and out.The worst part is that when you use the d-pad it moves slower, so I use the analog.
fun... but a bit frustrating...

The gameplay is aight... it becomes more frustrating than fun, as you progress in the game...... so that's it and that's that... not really into shooting games...

I'm not a gamer really, but I do watch my friends play alot. My boyfriend bought his PS2 and the first game we rented was Silent Scope. I suppose I'm just not fast enough or coordinated enough to move my scope around and still shoot accurately. That darn scope is the problem...it is hard to put the sniper in the target and still shoot him before he moves. My guy beat this game in one day...he had to take a couple of breaks to let some steam out hitting his golf clubs. I have been told the arcade game is way more enjoyable. I find the "Dukes of Hazzard II: Daisy Dukes it out" to be the most enjoyable game so far...it's even one that chicks like me might enjoy...

WEll, I know this games hasn't gotten killer reviews, but I want to do it a little justice. I think it is a nice game to just throw in the ps2 for a spin. Takes little effort, controls are quick to learn and when isn't it fun to cap a guy in the head and get major kudos for it?
One HUGE knock on this game is apparently it's too easy. First off I don't think so and secondly with the codes from ign.com I think the game gets remarkably more difficult with the other options available. Granted not sure worth the 50 clams, but I got for 30 and am happy to have something to else besides my EA Sports collection

This was one game that I remotely enjoyed in the arcade, but unfortunately what made the game worth its while was the gun. The gun was the whole attraction of the game, which was otherwise just a dull shoot-em-up.
But my question is why? Why repackage a game that was clearly marked for the Arcades with the extra guns and what-not. Yes, Playstation has had some success in repackaging some of the arcade games for play at home, and yes thay have made great games with shooter attributes without the gun, but if they were to re-package a shooter game where people have gotten used to using a gun in the arcade for Playstation-2, they should (and could) have gave us some sort of a gun for just a few dollars extra and at least made it worth its while.
The fun doesn't last...

The graphics are definitely awesome and the strategic choices abound, but the more I play this game, the more I wish I had a gun-type controller in my hands. Also, in a possible departure from the arcade game, the story mode could use more long-term progression using memory cards. Still, it's a good break from playing SSX and NHL 2001 all day.

Following my own advice I rented this game first before buying it. The game being a 5-day rental, I only kept it for a day. After 20 minutes the game becomes very, very, boring. I know this has been said many times before, but this game should have been left in the arcade.

If you are absolutely in love with the arcade version of this game, then by all means, go out and buy this. But, if you're buying it as a good PS2 game, save your fifty bucks for a game that really showcases the PS2's power.
The graphics fall very short of the total capability of what a PS2 can do. They are blocky, and do not look at all real.
The game play is very difficult. The game was orginally made to be played with a sniper rifle in an arcade. When you try to play a game like that on PS2, the game controller is no where near like playing the game with a scope.
Also, since this game is from an arcade, the gameplay is very static. You will play through the exact same mission with the enimies in the exact same place over and over. Needless to say, it gets very booring.
Then, to try and make the game more "replayable" which it isn't, the creators of this game added bonus modes. The so-called bonus modes allow you to practice your shooting skills. These too have poor graphics and non fun gameplay. The music behind the bonus missions gets very old after only a couple replays of it. Read: there is only one song.
The game has very little replay value. With only about two different modes to play in: Arcade and bonus, you see most of the game pretty quickly and it gets old.
So, don't buy this game unless you are completely in love with the arcade version. The graphics are sub PS2 par, the game play is aweful along with the terrible control system. Save your money and wait for better titles.
Don't even rent it

I bought this game because of these reviews and all I can say is too many [people] reviewed the arcade game and not the PS2 game. The Arcade game is great. Worthless controls makes this one not even worth renting. The game is average to dull until the first time you end up in a helicoptor at which point the controls simply leave you helpless. In the arcade the same scene meant a challenging headshot that made you feel like you could work for the CIA if you made it. On the PS2 it's a frustrating attempt to push too many buttons and still not be able to move your scope quickly or accurately enough in sniper mode. When you finally make the shot it makes you feel like you're justified in throwing the disk out the window. ....
