I think this is one of the best PS2 games out right now. The company pushes it as a great multyplayer game, but I think single player mode is most entertaining. After beating the game however its replay value is almost soley as a 2 player game.
Best game so far

With the release of the ps2 I instantly picked up this game. Its playability along with the ability to redesign your mech down to the last screw provided me with hours of enjoyment. It takes a while to get used to the control system and to master the in flight weapons battles that come out of most multiplayer battles. One definite advantage to this game is the ability to create multiple mechs and save them onto your memory card. After being saved there you can then go to your friend's house that has a ps2 (yes I know this doesn't happen yet, but it will) and the two of you can pit your mech designs against one another in the arena.
I would have to say that this game is a definite must for anyone that is into battle tech, mechwariers, earth siege or any of the other mech based combat games.
Has to be the best Mech Game ever!

I never got PSone so I never got the original Armored Cores but when i seen the cover of AC2, I knew right then that i had to rent this game. Eventually I bought it. It's a simple game on normal mode...never tried it yet on hard...It has a good plot. This game never gets old. After you beat the game you can have a overweight core and not enough energy core. Also you get all the missions unlocked. The Arena is challenging and your AC is so customizable with a whole lotta parts. This is a game that I was proud to get.
Awsome game

This is the next step in the armored core saga and it's great. Better graphics help to make it better than the others. The arena whick has 50 oppents which you can challenge and if you win you go up to that rank. GOOD GAME!!!

OK.Maybe the title is over recting..But hey!!The truth needs to be said!!It's a fast paced battle game that is only for serious gamers that know how to handle EXTREME pressure.I spend most of my time in the arena, but the missions are ok...but anyway. There are ovaer 14 mechs u can make and 3 u can keep.Well its really awesome and the moneys worth it...It's got graphics that blow ur mind away and awesome voice recognition. It's commands are nicely appointed and work.Making it hit the 5 stars for Fun Factor,Sound,Graphics, and Personality.
The best

_I could spend all of my 1,000 word limit telling you about how great this game is, but it still would not be fair justice to the game. The gameplay, the storyline, the graphics, the customization, the weapons, just EVERYTHING is absolutely EXCELLENT!
_I have all of the AC games. I have all 3 original ones, both AC2 titles, and AC3. This one is BY FAR the best out of all. I'll admit the weapon selection and mission variety is better in AC2 Another age...but Another Age doesn't have the Arena mode or the Mail section of the game. And most of the storyline is usually told through the emails...so Another Age ends up being just going into missions and blowing stuff up. No storyline progression so you know what you've accomplished in missions, no way to go one-on-one with "proper" (explained in a sec) AC's. So with AC2: AA, you miss a lot.
_What I meant by "proper" is that every AC in the main game has infinite ammunition, a set amount of ap (whether it be more or less than what his AC should have by his parts), infinite energy, experiances no output down, his FCS is never effected by the ECM weapons, so on and so forth. In the arena, the AC's are true to their designs. They only have as much energy as their engines allow. If you hit them with an ECM rocket, their targeting will be effected. If you smack him with enough fire, his health will continue to drop from output down. And if he flies around and fires a lot of energy weapons at you, he'll run out of energy.
_This is the defining Armored Core game. It has EVERY good point from every game. It even beats out Armored Core 3. If you want an Armored Core game, this is it.
Mechy Goodness!

Though the graphics are dated, the action is so furious you won't notice it. What makes AC2 stand out is the arena mode, which is missing from Another Age. And, currently, it's cheaper on the used market than AC3.
You can read any of the other reviews to hear about how it funtions, but my personal opinion is that customizing your Mech/Wanzer/Core/Whatever is the real core of this game. During Arena, you don't have to pay for ammo or repairs. In the 30+ missions, you do. And some ammo is very expensive, so you'd want to use energy weapons rather than solid weapons like bullets, grenades, rockets, missles, etc. There are biosensors needed for radars at times. Some heads don't contain those, so you sell a head and buy a head. There is no penalty for selling, you get the same amount of money as you paid. So you'll constantly be swapping things out.
I had, and still have, lots of fun with this title. For $12 used, a great game.
P.s. My favorite: antenna head, big Z core, grenade gun, dual vertical missles, tank tread legs, and rocket interceptors. Yeah!
AC comes home

I've been a big fan of the AC series from the beginning, and I must say, this is awesome. Back again are the seemingly endless variations and strategies. Certain parts togather create rather nasty designs for you to sample. But really it all comes down to the skill of the pilot and how he or she choses to play their mech. Oh, and for all of you who whine about the going into debt thing, I have this to say: Why don't you try going into the arena first to get some cushion between you and bankruptcy. You loose no money for loosing in the arena, so what do you have to loose by trying? And even if you lost in the mission mode, why not re-load your game? Save Often. This simple rule of thumb for playing through almost every adventure game or RPG would save you a lot of trouble. I say this because I do not want others to think this game is impossible to play. It isn't the easiest, but it is rewarding. Watching your creation that you have put every detail on utterly obliterate everything including your poor friend's mech who decided to fight you in verses mode just feels good! The controls are the tried but true original AC set up, but aren't impossible to play. No analog, but maybe next time. Until then, play it up, and have fun!
