Definitely the scariest of the series, RE2 has been declared a huge PSX classic! The first time I played this game was only several years ago when I was in sixth grade, and believe me, I was immediately hooked. It was so perfect, so morbid and creepy! When I used to think of Playstation (I had played it at first at my friend's house, I didn't own a PSX)I used to always remember it, remember the experience(it was THAT powerful)! I remembered the excitement of solving the puzzles and opening knew doors on my horror-filled adventure of finding out the secret to this infested town. The idea of being stranded in an entire city of zombies (a virus had been the cause) and other creatures was just plain awesome; it was so REAL looking. It was also just plain freaky when it came to fighting bosses and other random lurking demons. And you have to admit the cinema in the beginning is one of the best introductions to a game in the entire world of videogames.

Still, however, the game does have one flaw, and that is the controls. Yep, the famous RE controls. Very frustrating at first, but can definitely be picked up in no time. Other than that, the graphics, cut-scenes, and cinemas are great! And the music and atmosphere are perfect, very eerie and creepy! If you look anywhere, you can see how huge the RE series is, expecially this game (probably the best of the series)! It's no wonder this game is so popular, it's absolutely outstanding! One of my biggest recommendations! I own all of the REs now, and I'm waiting for the next one to arrive! Long live Resident Evil!!!

This game rocks!!!

This is one of the best games for the Playstation. It has awesom graphics and a solid story line. The camera angles are always in the right place so you can see what you are doing. The controls were kept the same from the original which makes it quick and easy for veterans of the first game to jump right in and play. It still takes a while to beat which makes you want to keep playing. Plus each time you play it there is a chance something different will happen.

There are some things I didn't like about it though. For one there aren't that many different paths to take in order to beat the game which means after you beat it 2 or 3 times you get tired of it. It's also hard to find a lot of ammo for the big guns such as the magnum or the grenaide launcher. Another annoying thing that returned from the first game is the inability to skip the video FMV's. Once is enough to see them, especially the long ones.

Those quirks aside this is a must have game for any Playstation owner!

OOOOOOOOO incredible!!

My experience with RE2 was not as great as with RE and RE3. It is still a fun game and if you're a big Resident Evil fan I would buy it. If you're just getting into the series I would reccomend trying RE or Nemesis. I thought there was alot of slow time in the game and not enough shooting! But when there is shooting, your guns are rather weak on the zombies. All in all its a good game but I liked the other two better.

This game is a hard game but not that hard. You need to use your brain. I got my mom into this game because she had nothin to play. So I gave her the game and she liked it. You got to read the little passages they give you to help you through the game. There are alot of secrets in this game. It is a good game. there us nothing better than this game. I wish they can mke them for all consoles and not just one.

A fun romp through a B-Movie

I played this before I played the original Resident Evil. I had just barely gotten the Playstation and was renting a bunch of stuff. Originally I hated this game because I couldn't figure out how to play it. I had been a Nintendan with occasional defects to Sega (I own a Genisis) so I was unfamiliar with what has become a nearly standard control style for Playstation games. I didn't understand the pivoting, nor did I grasp the concept of holding R-1 to aim and X to shoot. I got frusterated and set it aside. However, my brother picked it up immediately after and managed to get me past the first screen. (Yes I got killed right away.) I watched my brother navigate his way through the game until he finally got killed by the first Licker. He begged me to buy it. So I did. After a while I decided to give it another try, and once I got used to the control style I beat it. I have played this this Resident Evil, and it many different incarnations across differnt platforms more than any other version. I have also bought this one the most times trying to get the "ultimate edition" and eventually got tired of it and bought the Dual Shock Greatest Hits version after the N64 version's FMV sequences were so terrible. Although I will not buy the forthcomming GameCube port unless they imporove it as drastically as they did the original, I still recomend RE 2 as the most fun of the series. If for some reason there is someone out there who does not already have some version of this game do yourself a favor and pick one up. GameCube owners, I recomend waiting for the GCN version as it is supposed to have all of the various enhancements that all of the various versions of this game had, including the much desired analog control the N64 version featured.

Overhyped

There's a significant graphical overhaul since episode 1, but this fails to improve on or even to equal the original in any other respect. As a game in its own right, its pretty entertaining, if slightly short, but as a sequel to one of the most innovative and ingenious games of all time, its a disappointment of the highest order.

One of the best games for Playstation!

Even now I play my Resident Evil 2 game, and I never grow tired of it. I will sometimes find myself up at late hours in the night playing it. The graphics are great for the Playstation, and there are surprises around every corner. IMO it was even better than the original Resident Evil (excluding the Gamecube remake). I don't own any other RE games yet besides 1 & 2 , so I can't compare RE2 to them, but I do plan on getting them all eventually. Anyway, if you liked the first Resident Evil, you're sure to like this one!
