Haven't played, but looks AWSOME!

although it isnt out yet, the game looks great. Nice graphics, cool guns, and nice environments. As far as gameplay goes, it looks great. The other Turok games were alright, not that great of graphics and gameplay, but now that it is brought to better systems and is upgraded a lot, this game should be great. I love any kind of fps games. I am really looking forward to playing this game. If anyone else is as crazy for fps games as i am, then consider getting this game.

Turok is a very fun fps with lots of ugly dinos and this one looks to have great graphics and intense game play. i had an old version of this and it had this one gun which drilled this bomb thing into an enemies head and blew it up. thats freakin' pretty tight. and the multiplayer was awsome too. shoot the monkey. thats all i have to say. well, maybe not. one person is a monkey with no gun and all the other people have to go and kill the monkey beore it reaches the thing that turns him back to normal. its really a blast. it's just to bad this comes out so close to need for speed (sept. 9th).

Turok on ps2

For those gamers who only ever played playstation, Turok was one
of the biggest franchises on the n64 and with good reason. Turok
2 was easily one of the best first person shooters on a system
that was home to many a great fps. It was in my opinion the best looking game on the n64 as well...

Just put my preorder in. Judging from what I've read on IGN, Gamespot, Game Informer, etc. I have to say this has the potential to be the FPS of the year. It's also a BIG game according to the previews, so I'm looking forward to getting some quality time in with the over the top turok arsenal.

Suspicious Reviews - AVOID THIS GAME!

I find it suspicious that most reviews are anonymous, or written before the gamer has played the game. This game is HORRIBLE! The graphics on the PS2 version are worse than the N64! The framerate lags at a low teen figure, the textures are amateurish, and the movement looks like a hastily created episode of South Park. I bought this game, played it for six hours, and returned it in disgust! AVOID THIS GAME at ALL cost. No wonder it has been so over-hyped!! It is a horrible example of a rushed, unimaginative, terrible game!!

Turok is better than Halo

And I love Halo! I've been playing Turok for 2 days straight and it really rocks my Xbox. I'm glad I decided to buy and not rent this one. Extremely impressive graphics. Great AI. Super weapons. Turok has it all.

This game sucks....

This game ... It says it is 1-4 players simultaneosly, but it isnt. It is only 2... so it ... if you have friends and want to play. Either that or my multi taps b, c and d ports are messed up. Also the single player is too linear. You can barely explore or anything. The graphics are ok, but the sound effects ARE VERY BAD!! Everything sounds so cheap and inhuman. I rented this at blockbuster, I hope the game is messed up or something because it stinks. Turok 2 was alot better. I think gaming companies are all about graphics now and not gameplay; which is really sad. Some where I read that this game was going to be awesome, I totally disapprove. All the reviews I read anyways only talk about "what they heard and saw" Do not rent this game!! Wait for armored core 3.

Could've been better..........

Turok: Evolution fails to break the mold. In fact, it often fails to fill the mold of its predecessors. Don't get me wrong, if all you want is your standard FPS plus a few dinosaurs and new foes to blast into chunky bits this should fulfill your appetite. Unfortunately, after all the hype, I was looking for something a lot more in depth to spend my [money] on. A few of the glaring problems are:
1) You cannot custom config your controls- you are stuck with one of two defaults, neither of which is very intuitive
2) Collision detection [is bad]- it's often easier to fall down a drop (and take damage!) than to actually hit the ladders to climb back down- jumping is no treat either
3) Settings don't save- you have to type in your cheat codes and turn on auto aim every time you start the game. Now why, when you have an on screen cheat menu can you not save these after typing them in the first time? Take a hint from Medal of Honor: Frontline and get with the program.
4) Plot- where is it? With games out there like Red Faction, Deus Ex, Medal of Honor etc.. There's just no excuse for repetitive mission objectives. (like rescue so and so, kill everything, etc..)
5) Pteredon flight- great idea, but if you wanted it to be fun, shouldn't it handle a little better than a flying brick?
6) Taking away the cerebral bore is unforgivable- replacing it with a multi shot of smaller borers is no substitute for the awe inspiring fear you could instill with the original. (some of my multiplayer foes still have nightmares)

Taking all this into account it may seem like Turok: Evolution has no redeeming attributes, which isn't quite true. You do get to use the tek bow, which is always fun for popping enemies a mile away with exploding arrows. You can also count on a good amount of total carnage and the occasional enemy getting the drop on you (though nowhere near as many as in the first games). All in all, it's not a bad game, but it could have been much, much, better, especially when you consider this is Turok's first appearance on a next gen platform and the amount of hype that's been spread around. This is a game that I probably should have rented first, and will most likely trade in as soon as I've beaten it.

Massive violence has never looked so good!

I, like every other gamer in the world, love M-rated games. The blood splater on the wall, the bits of gore on the ground, it doesn't get much better. So when I heard that the new Turok, a Nintendo title, was 'multi-platform', I hurried on over to Blockbuster.

When I first turned on the game, and saw a reptile soldier get his head split in half with an axe, I new that this was greatness. You start the game with an axe/club and a bow-and-arrow. On the first level, I looked over the hill ahead of me, and saw bushes swaying to the side. I moved closer to them, and out jumped a small raptor. Immediately, I drew my bow and sent my arrow directly into the raptor's skull. The blood effect was astounding (a giant burst of thick mist in the air above me).

Now, I've never seen a Velociraptor get torn to shreds by a mini-gun, a.k.a. meatgrinder (meatgrinder refers to the graphically violent image portrayed when the mini-gun is used on enemies), but I'm pretty sure that the blood effect was exaggerated. Nevertheless, FPS's are supposed to be violent.

If you take away the 'M' rating, you've actually got yourself a good story, and some gameplay that can easily be compared to Red Faction. If you want to be amazed by a video game, then I recommend that you play an amazing game. Turok:Evolution is a game that will leave you satisfied and grinning (if you have a sick sense of humor like me).
