Burnout 3 is where it is really at

2 Rating: 2, Useful: 3 / 12
Date: December 29, 2004
Author: Amazon User

This first real 256mb card game to take a tumble.

NFSU2 installs and looks like the best car game ever made, but it isn't. As the intro screen finishes its loading you find yourself inside Grand Theft Auto, a map in the corner, someone telling you to go to a flashing icon and you drive off to some race to acquire more cash, win more cars and get some turbo and tuning. The graphics on a 256mb card look smashing, beautiful reflections, fast driving through the city... but it just falls short because... that is all it is about.

Having played Burnout 3, virtually the same type of game, nothing like Burnout 1 or 2, I have to say than 3 beats this games hands down, not because of the quality of graphics, or the accuracy of the car models, but simply because it is more apt for this games title and also offers crash control physics where you can spin your car in slow motion, win more points via damages... oh wait I am reviewing another game now... and really that says it all.

NFSU2 is really just a STFU2 in comparison to much better games out there. Although it looks gorgeous and that first drive is a creamer Burnout 3 just leaves this one spinning. It is just not as fast, not as creative and not as enjoyable as the real new hot trail blazer.

Play it when it becomes a cheap classic in two years time and instead get in the better ride next door. You will thank yourself that you did.

Pros
. Graphics are 256mb card worthy.
. That first ride is like a bat of hell.

Cons
. Just not fast enough.
. Nothing new.
. Crash physics are better elsewhere.
. Gameplay tries to be something it is not, namely GTA

Jap Cars Suck but overall great game

Too many Jap Cars. Not enough American Muscle. Only 2 really cool cars, the '05 Mustang Gt, and the Ponitac GTO. They both have the sweetest purr in the whole game. The Jap cars suck. I can't take foriegn cars. They even sound bad. Thats why i only gave it 4 stars. The GTO and Mustang sound as cool as it gets. You can hear the cam click and every thing. If you believe all Jap cars sound not be allowed in America buy this game to kick thier [...] with American muscle. It's better than the 1st underground. Biggest con of the game too many Jap Cars and to get the Mustang and GTO in Career you must get to 45%. Buy this game to kick the Jap cars [...].

GREAT GAME

This game will far exceed rockstar's MC3 dub edition. I know that NFSU blew out MC2. MC2 said it could customize cars, but all you can do is change the paint. NFSU has awesome drag and drift modes while in MC2 its only just different races. NFSU is also more realistic, the graphics are a great deal more detailed, and the nitrous oxide system is as real as it gets. There may be more cars in MC2, but it can't compare to how great the customizable options in NSFU. Too generic? There is nothing new about MC2, that is a veeeeery generic racing game.

this game is spectacular because you can make a car with your own pieces to do a original car

Extremely enjoyable for an old NFS3 fan...

Combine the free-form gameplay of Grand Theft Auto with NFS:3 and you have one enjoyable racing game. I'm a big NFS:3 fan from way back, and to be honest I hadn't purchased many racing games since then. None really came so close. They always tried to be either ultra-realistic or were dumbed down and arcade-like. I prefer middle-of-the-road, and NFS had reached that fine point with NFS:3, so I took a chance and bought this game. I am pleasantly surprised. While there's no collision damage (thank God, actually), there's plenty of action to be had and the opponents can be challenging. NFSU2 is most fun when shifting the gears manually, and the game modes will give you hours upon hours of enjoyment. Supposedly there are approx. 220 races total you can run. Tricking out your ride is also very fun and the cars looks sweet. You notice a definite difference when switching from stock parts to performance parts. I can't wait to unlock the Mustang. :o) In all, this game just rocks. I love it.

NEED FOR SPEED UNDERGROUND VS. MIDNIGHT CLUB

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 1 / 2

NFSU is a great series with customizations and racing that will make your head explode. But is that everything? The answer is no. I love the NFSU series but there is a street racer that is way more appealing. The game series is called Midnight Club. MC has been around since 2000. NFSU has been around since 2003. I personally love both games but as they say practice makes perfect and Rockstar has had way more practice than EA.

MC go anywhere around the city to win

NFSU stick to one track and try to aviod pedestrian cars that trick you into thinking that you're street racing

MC Great graphics hard to beat

NFSU Good graphics

MC No customizations in MC1 or MC2 but CRAZY customizations in MC3

NFSU good customizations hard to make a Exellent looking car

MC Damage it can be good or bad but very realistic

NFSU Only windows break

MC Unlicensed cars in 1 & 2 but Over 60 in 3

NFSU licensed cars but not the greatest

MC great sence of speed

NFSU great sence of speed

MC Gameplay is too good and challenging

NFSU Gameplay is good and a little Challenging

MC replay value is very high

NFSU without the customizations the replay value would be Moderate

MC Over all is ***** out of 5

NFSU 4 1/2 stars out of five

I am just making a point that MC's Racing is Way better than NFSU's

Buy both Great games then You can Compare

MC 3 is coming out on April 12th 2005

Underground 2 not too good

I think Underground was better than Underground 2. Driving around the city is cool at first, but it becomes a huge hassle as the game wears on. It just gets more boring and boring as the game goes on, so I'm looking forward to NFS Most Wanted to add the new cop pursuit element. PEACE!

What a Punishment!!

This game is an over glorfication of how stupid Need For Speed has gotten. How much more punishment and abuse can this great classic take? Looks like Electronic Arts and its Executives thought it would be nice to suck its customers dry out of money. Damn Spongey Execs. I thought the NFS series couldn't get worse after the first Underground....I guess the dumbas*es at Electronic Arts proved me wrong. Its a pathetic excuse for a game. Hasn't anyone else found the connection yet. Hmm lets see when NFSU came out their was a familiar movie (Hint:Fast and the Furious). Ok so they copied the movie I can't blame them its hard to gain material for a game with a long history...But NFSU2 was a big dissapointment. The overall originality of the game was non-existent. Familiar enough the time NFSU2 came out so did "Too Fast Too Furious!" Wow... Thats really ironic. The game is full of advertisments which literally drive you away from the original concept of the game. As the huge NFS fan I was this just pushed me more towards Gran Turismo. Even Nitendo racing games like Formula One beat out this game on originality and gameplay. Playing this game is like playing a big advertisment...Not really my way of having fun. So if you want to join the rest of a**holes who enjoy playing a game with cheap graphics, shi**y music,no gameplay, and non-existent originality then by all means go ahead. If I were in your place I would stick with Formula One...It has a point.

Good game... system sucks

With the Fast and the Furious being so popular, it's helped pave the way for games such as this, which is a cool game. However, I happen to be one that has the newer, smaller PS2 which has to load before and even during gameplay. Whether the older PS2's have this problem i'm not sure. It makes the game so incredibly long and interrupts gameplay. I've lost 5 races in a row simply because it has to stop and load so many times. During one race I counted it loading 20 times! I hate sony products and I will never by another PS2, PS3 or anything else that they come out with. Why make a game that the system can't handle?
