If anyone said 2D platformers are dead, they certainly did not play Klonoa 2: Lunatea's Veil. Klonoa 2 plays like an old style 2D platformer, but the graphics are in 3D with beautifully animated cell shaded characters and backrounds. The gameplay is rather simple...use "wind bullets" to capture your enemies, then either use them as weapons or to activate switches (similar to Kirby or Mario World's Yoshi). The whole game from the music to the character design carries a distinct cutesy Japanese style, so that may turn the more casual gaming audience away unfortunately. Due to it's fairly laid back difficulty however, Klonoa 2 is a game that anyone can enjoy...and there's no blood or violence, so if you have kids it's safe material for them to play. If you like traditional style 2D platformers such as Mario and Sonic, definitely pick up Klonoa 2 now while it's still available. You won't regret adding this classic to your collection.

Do you remember that game from Namco called Klonoa that didden't sell well? I think that all of us who played it can aggree that that was an amazing game. But now, Namco is making a sequel to that game, with PS2 graphics, great sound, and tight controls. I've played this game, and it definetly deserves 5 out of 5.
good almost great

I have almost 25 games for PS2 and this game is the best one...and yes I do have GT3. The lush graphics, simplistic gameplay, and the nostalga did it for me. It reminds of my days with the super nintendo when I was young. You don't see too many side scroller games these days so this was a pleasant surprise. A must buy.
Most fun I've ever had!

this is a sweet game. great graphix, cool story, cool anime type action and characters. i havent played the first but i loved the second. the only drawback is it's too short. i beat it in 2 days but also have been playing games since i was 5(now im 15). it should take about a week for younger players. thanx namco for makin' my first ps2 game and one of my favorite!

This is a shorter, easier version of the original Klonoa on the PlayStation. Excellent visuals. Dialog tends to drag on and on needlessley in many cases. It's almost as if they knew the game play wasn't going to cut it, so they threw in long, slowly spoken dialog throughout the game.
The Klonoa gameplay is still there, though, and that's where this game shines. Fantastic music and ingenious level design will keep everyone entertained - from the 5 year old kid to the 50 year old dad. :)
Great Game But Not Very Hard

The 2 sites I generally go to before buying a game are this one (Amazon.Com) and IGN.COM, both sites had this game very high (IGN gave it a 9.2 out of 10). I think very highly of IGN but they overated this game just a bit, a 7.5 to 8 would have been a more reasonable score.
Games +'s - The graphics are top notch and the gameplay is very easy to pick up and get going, the game is also very fluid and the camera angles were done well. The game plays 2D in a 3D world and they make it work well. The sound is solid although the creatures language sound can get annoying after a while. One big plus to this game and I hope to see more of in the future is a game I can play in front of my 3 year old son without worrying about violence and sexual content. The fact they left this out is a MAJOR PLUS to me not a kncok on the game. The game is in no way dimisnished because they kept it clean.
Games -'s - there is way too much "story" between levels. You can hit the start button to get by this, but then you don't know the story, they could have made this much faster and shorter. The other big knock on the game is that it is way too easy. Although the gameplay is intuitive at points, it never gets real challenging. Which will let you finish the game rather quickly. The only plus is you can go back through levels and "finish" the little sub challenges in each level.
A very good family game by Namco, I hope to see more of them in the future. 4 out of 5 Stars, or 8 out of 10 depending on your rating system.

I bought this game primarily for my 7 year old twins, and it didn't disappoint. They (and I) played for hours and we were thoroughly entertained.
The somewhat limited 2nd player option is still enough fun to make it easier when you're waiting out your turn to take over the main controller again.
It's challenging, but not so hard that my kids get frustrated while playing. The worst thing a "kids" video game can do is send them away mad because they get stuck, lost, or confused. This game, however, always keeps their attention.
I had never heard of this game before seeing it on Amazon, but I'm glad I took a chance on it...and so are my kids.
Awesome Underappreciated Game

There seem to be a lot of people out there who have never heard of the Klonoa series. I feel sorry for them because these are some of the funnest games ever made. For the most part, this is a 2-D platform game set in a 3-D world. I say "for the most part" because every once in awhile you come across a 3-D level. The controls are incredibly simple. You use the control pad to move, the X button to jump, and the circle or square button to shoot an air pellet. There is a good variety of different types of levels, but most of them involve puzzle-solving with the gameplay. You have to figure out how to use the enemies in the level to reach the next part of the level. There are also a few levels where you use a snowboard/wakeboard/hoverboard. Then there are five boss levels, I believe. The graphics of Klonoa are very bright and colorful and you will never have any slowdown.
Unfortunately, this game is so underappreciated that you will be lucky to even find a copy anywhere. If you can, though, give it a chance. You will get hooked.
