This game is quite...something. At first, it was rather fun to go coasting along in courses, racing for no reason, and exploring worlds in Free Roam mode. A few things that annoyed me right off the bat were the fact that there are only 4 courses for starters, and that they were almost CLONES of the courses in Wave Race 64.
The Lagoon course is just like Sunny Beach or whatever from WR64. Aspen Lake? A prettied-up version of Drake Lake (and I like Drake Lake more...) Southern Island is almost identical from the old game. Ocean City Harbor? An uglier version of Twilight City. And Arctic Bay, a course you earn, is like Glacier Coast, only much more beautiful. Dolphin Park, the stunt course from WR64, has returned in a slightly-transformed, better form.
That said, I saw the characters were a bit different. There were more, and each was unique. However, all of the characters have "stiff" controlling, that takes a lot of time to get used to.
The tutorial helps a little with learning basic tricks, for fast turbo boosts, but the advanced tricks (Nac Nac, Superman, etc.) are so difficult to pull off that a player probably will never be able to do them during a race.
The most aggravating aspect of this game is the championship mode. The weather gets randomly chosen, and in order to get courses with many types of weather for Time Attack and Multiplayer, one has to play Normal Championship Mode over and over again. Also, the CPUs are insanely good, and cheat A LOT. In addition to competing with them, one has to battle the weather, and make sure not to miss buoys. I doubt that very many people will ever get the last course (Strongwater Keep, a lovely castle-and-countryside-esque course). Or, for that matter, even the 2nd-to-last course (La Razza Canal).
Another thing I didn't like was the lack of codes, for the racers who just cannot beat the championship. And the much famed "tsunami mode"? Non-existant. The closest thing to it is a circular ring located far off the track of Dolpihn Park that houses a few large waves. The only way to reach it is to go as fast as possible during Free Roam mode with David Mariner. But David can't do stunts at all, so it is a wasted effort.
All in all, WRBS is much more difficult to master than its predecessor, and I was disappointed with the lack of variety between the two games.
Get this if you're a major, major fan...or have a lot of free time. (X_x)

This game is got to be the best water game out there in my opinion. You have so many options to go in, and I think it's overall fun. When I got this game I found myself playing it for about 4 to 5 hours straight. I got into this one alot. At first the controls were alittle tricky to learn all the moves and stunts but then I got the hang of it quick. It's not hard, they take you step by step on how to use the controls for moves and stunts right on the game and you can go into it when ever you want. The free roam is great, and the stunt mode. The racing is fantastic. All the modes are great. You can even choose what location you want to ride in. My favorite is Dolphin Park. Especially in Free Roam Mode because the Dolphin follows you where ever you go. The graphics on it are way cool. I have alot of fun with this game. It truly is the best water game out!!!!!!! And it's really fun with 2 or 4 players. It's Great!!!!!!!!!!!

This game is absolutely incredible. I've always been a fan of racing games, and this one is way up there. The wave effects, the contoller response, and just the all around prettiness! It's oh so pretty! The effects of the water splashing against the screen, the waves, and just all these little details that spring to life! The gameplay is good, and you can customize (to an extent) the characters jet skis. With good gameplay and challenging courses, this game will remain a favorite of mine for a long time to come
Bought this for the water simulation - Fantastic game

I purchased the Gamecube because I have small children and Nintendo consoles are the only machines with decent content for that group.
The only game I have for myself so far is WR:BS and I love it. If you enjoy challenging race-style games you will love this game. The feel of racing over water is very very good.
The only complaint I have is that you should not be able to ride with a wave doing around 100 kph. The world (dolphins, helicopters, and waves) seems to follow you around regardless of your speed. It is primarily an arcade game rather than a simulator, but it is great fun.
I am happy with my console purchase, and this game shows off some pretty good grahics and physics for it.
Good Game!

This is a really good game. I liked the tutorial. It has really good stunts, and once you finish all the stunts, you get to do a stunt race. It's a really good game and I recommend it.

Blue Storm is graphically impressive. It portrays some of the most realistic water you'll ever see in a video game (par with Mario Sunshine). But how does it play? Well, be forewarned. The learning curve is VERY steep (intimidatingly steep). There's also a lack of courses to choose from, but each course has different variations depending on difficulty, not to mention weather effects (which are cool). Blue Storm may put off some racing fans because of its difficult approach, but those who stick with it will find maximum enjoyment. All in all, I've enjoyed playing this as a multiplayer game. If you can find people on the same skill level as you, it can be a lot of fun. But the single-play championship is too frustrating for beginners, too short for experts.

This is a great game with a few drawbacks. For one, the control feels a little unresponsive at times. When the jetski is banked hard into a corner, it is overly difficult to stand it back up. The consequence of this is that you hit a lot of walls, which is compounded by the problem of the ski tending to stick to the wall once it makes contact (you don't lose speed, you just slide along the wall and it can be difficult to break away). Another problem is difficulty. I think this game is just too hard.
Besides those problems, this is really a fun game. The water is beautiful and behaves very nicely. The ski's interaction with the water is perfect. One of the improvements over the original is that performing stunts in a race is actually beneficial, as it replenishes your turbo meter. There is a lot of replay value as well, with new courses and options becoming available as you win the more difficult circuits (that is, if you can win).
Avoid this rehash

Only if this game could have lived up to what it could have been. It seems that this is the trend with the majority of the games being released on the GC, they have the potential to be great games, but due to lack in innovation they are bad ports of their N64 counterparts. This game is no exception. To start off on a good note, the graphics on this game are decent. The water looks real, but does not come close to the realism found in games on other consoles. But the gameplay and lack of levels and modes leaves this game in bad shape. The controls are incredibly stiff and the lack of levels, count 'em 6, boggles the mind and leaves you wondering whether the GC is really a next gen console or simply based on technology from the past century.
