Legacy games continue to decline

1 Rating: 1, Useful: 21 / 27

I have bought most, if not all, of the Legacy Interactive Emergency Room Games. I also bought the first and second Veterinary Emergency Room games. I think that Legacy started out well, but each succeeding game has been dumbed down. The first and second Emergency Room games had different staff in each room, each with different personalities. After that, the succeding games dispensed with this, and had the same type of staff member in each type of room. Too bad--the personality types reminded me of real situations in real emergency rooms.

In ER, the types of medical skills have also been dumbed down. In earlier games, you had to place the right diagnostic instrument on the right part of the patient. If you did too many tests, the chief of service would castigate you for wasting money. Again like real medicine. The nurses and technicians--despite their attitudes--were the most helpful individuals when you were in a tight spot. Well so much for reminising about the previous Emergency Room games.

ER is not like those games. You do not realy use of learn much about real medicine. You do not even really learn much about what is wrong with your patient. It is more about smoozing with other ER staff and making sure that you do not get too low on hygeine or nutrition points. Treatment is completely nonspecific. As far as actual medical practice is concerned, you might as well be playing Pong. It looks as if someone was trying to emulate the Sims on the cheap.

The graphics are not as good as the ones on Emergency Room Disaster Strikes, or Veterinary Emergency Room. If truth be told, I much preferred the earliest truly functional Emergency Game, Emergency Room II. Even though there was not as much animation, the experience was more realistic.

If you want to play the Sims II, buy it. This is a poor imitation of the Sims and an even poorer imitation of previous Legacy Emergency Room Games. I would suggest that Legacy get a REAL emergency room physician to help them with this series of games.

Completely unplayable due to bugs

This game would be fun if you could play it for any period of time. The amount of bugs is astounding. I purchased this game last year and there is still no fix for the many problems despite complaints to their technical support. If you look on Legacy Interactive's tech support forum for this game( http://www.legacyinteractive.com/forum/list.php?4 ), you will see how many problems there are and how they have been ignored. This is a complete waste of money.

very disappointing

I have been a buyer of Legacy Interactive games since they starting producing them, and I have bought all their medical type games plus also their vet related games. In their medical type games you pick up instruments and treat patients, plus of course interact with them by talking to them. Their games take about 3-4 cds which shows how much they encompass. When I heard about this new game I was very anxious to get it since I knew what excellent quality and how addicting the other medical games are. I was very disappointed to see only one cd, and playing it is nothing like the other games. You do not pick up instruments nor any of the treatment measures like the other games- you basically wave your hands over the person. In reality the game reminds me of the SIMS.

This game would be fun...if it didnt crash all the time

Don't bother...I was enjoying this game until I received a "game startup failed" message, tech support was not much help and suggested I reinstall. NO WAY...I'm not playing the game over again just to get to the spot I crashed at! Its not THAT fun.
I'm very disappointed with support and the game and with a little research online, you'll easily find out why. Scores of people have commented on bulletins that this game is full of bugs. Save yourself the time and money.

Stupid, pointless game

This is not a fun game to play. You basically just run around a hospital doing random boring tasks. Also, don't be fooled by it being called "ER" and being made by Legacy... YOU DON'T DO ANY MEDICAL PROCEDURES AT ALL; there is nothing scientific about the game. Well, at least in the first few levels; I uninstalled it after that.
If you are a huge ER fan and aren't interested in the medical aspect of the show somehow, then perhaps you might want to buy it. Otherwise, don't waste your time or money.

Dreadfull!

If anyone remembers the game, Life and Death which you can perform operations, how many of us were thinking this was what you were going to get in ER? Even if youve never heard of Life and Death, the show kind of made me believe you would perform operations and actually be in the thick of things. Even Emergency Room which was released years ago looked promising. When I bought ER and played it, I was totally mortified. The gameplay was horrible and the premise was bad. i hate the point and click and the whole game overall. After I spent 5 minutes on the game, I quit and uninstalled it. All i have to say is, totally disapointing. Dont waiste your money.

not what I expected

I have over the years purchased a few emergency medical type games, and really do enjoy that genre, however this game doesn't even touch upon any skill one might have with diagnosing or even seeing patients. I guess what I had anticipated was a virtual setup of the television show, mixed with what had already come out, what I got was a point and click type atmosphere with virtually no challenge to the game whatsoever. If your looking for a point and click no brainer type RPG, it would be alright, however if your anticipating any type of challege look elsewhere.

boring

first of all, i think they should have got more different sinareos. Most of the time it was just the same thing, geting a pashent out of the wating room and geting them a bed, fixing them up and sending them out the door. Now that was fun the first hour but when it lasts 5, not so fun. It did have some changes in the sinaro, but not that much. This game has a good plot, but it needed to follow through with it.

This game is worth no more than $20, max. I payed over $30 for this game, it wasn't worth it.

Eh...

There wasn't really much to this game, and you would think that struggling to get it to work in the first place would have turned me off completely, but for some inexplicable reason, I was addicted to this game for days.

The other reviewers were right on - it's basically a point and click game, and pretty brainless. The only challenge is managing your time, but once you play for a while, that becomes easy too. I can't put my finger on exactly what made me play this game all the way through - which ended up not being very long. The end of the game seemed to come out of nowhere, and it left me feeling totally unsatisfied.

One reviewer said it's more closely related to The Sims than games like Emergency Room. I guess that's true, but if you are looking for a Sims-like game, this isn't it. Your interaction with other characters has absolutely no bearing on the gameplay, and it's almost impossible to find time to socialize if you actually care about carrying out your assigned tasks.

There are far better sim-like games out there and far FAR better medically-related ones, so unless you are getting a phenomenal deal, you can avoid this one.

Enjoyable game, but...

I really liked this game...let me start by saying that. I really did. However, two things bothered me greatly. First off, it is very clunky to play. I have a pretty darn good computer and this game would seize up often. Many reboots were needed to complete the game.

My second complaint is that it was VERY short. I normally take a bit of time to complete a game, I finished this in around a week. I was stunned that it was over and thought that it may lead to a more advanced scenario, but nope.

All in all, it was fun, but not worth what I paid due to the shortness of the game and the clunky interface.
