Just Another Puzzle Game

1 Rating: 1, Useful: 2 / 4

You enter a pitch black cave. With the aid of your atomic-level, laser-guided pixel hunter, you find (hopefully) what you need to start a fire. Then, you solve a puzzle. Then, you solve a ludicrous puzzle. Then, you leave the cave. Then, you enter a pitch black cave.... Sorry about that. I could find no way to write a review without writing a detailed walkthrough of the game.

Since there is really no plot, interesting characters or dialogue, and the graphics are only average, there is really no reason to leave the first cave. This game would make just as much sense if you stayed in the first cave and solved all the puzzles there. "Echo: Secrets of the Lost Cavern" is just another dumb puzzle game.

Stuck in a cave again.

A game that has as your first exciting task rubbing two sticks together to make fire is not even worthy of a cub-scout. I'm really getting tired with games that leave you in one spot without even the slightest hint of what you should next to move the game along. Of course one figures it out eventually, but what a waste of time!

The science and history trivia were not interesting, and not informative of the game itself.

This game is going right back to J&R Music

This game caused all kinds of havoc with my PC. Norton was constantly giving me low risk messages, and my PC ran Windows check disk on reboot. Never saw that before! I also had problems printing before I uninstalled this game.

Boring.....

This game was SO boring! The puzzles were stupid. The setting was interesting and could be a learning experience but the game itself was just SO bad and very short. Certainly not worth the money.

If you like games such as Black Mirror, Myst, Atlantis etc you will be very disappointed with this game.

I am a serious gamer of many genres and have played and enjoyed other Dreamcatcher games. This one was just an exercise in frustration. The movement was clumsy, choppy and bulky -- I have 2gig ram and an AMD 3200 with an Nvidea 7300, so it is not my computer.
This game was so clumsy in fact, that I began to feel the real puzzle was just figuring out how to move around. The graphics were simply OK. The story was terribly uninteresting and quite frankily I quit playing because I just did not care anymore. Bottom line: I should have known it was too good to be true for under 20$

This game its a diferent kind of piece of entertainment than i thought, i was expecting something less complicated, more as the way of prehistoric cultures. More fun, with a bit more action and larger scenes. Perhaps is just that is not my kinda of games.

Interesting and fun but not for Klutzes

I really enjoyed this game. The scenery is stunning. The characterizations were good to great. The puzzles were satisfying. Everything was fine until I got to a cave with a bear; a puzzle that must be solved with speed and reflexes - two things I do not possess, which is why I play adventure games rather than role-playing games. After about 200 unsuccessful attempts (over several days), I gave up. I was always a split-second too slow. I put the game aside with real regret. I can recommend this game without hesitation to anyone possessing just a tad of "shoot-em-up" skill.

Beautiful graphics - disappointing game play

I was very curious when I first saw this game and read the reviews. Up to this point I had only played the Harry Potter games (the first 3 -didn't like the 4th one) and a couple of the Nancy Drew. The work that went into the graphics on this one was phenominal! I got a little stuck on some of the challenges, though. I am hopelessly stuck on the grid-matching unicorn (or whatever animal it's supposed to be!)in the cave. Dead in the water or, perhaps I should say, up against a stone wall! There aren't any hints or helps to try and figure these challenges out! I found a walkthrough, but for some reason, the directions for the wall grid didn't work. I'm really stuck. Well, I'll keep trying. I found the other aspects rather frustrating and sometimes boring. You have to figure out what implements you'll need to make tools, and it's all cut and dried so that you can't continue until you have everything in place and in the proper order. I know I'm new to computer games, but I like puzzles and challenges so I thought I'd like this one. There isn't much interaction with other characters in Echo but, I have to admit, it's a lovely place to visit! Kind of makes one yearn for the simpler way of life!

Unique setting, decent execution

Kudos for the developer dedicating themselves to putting the player into the role of a prehistoric cave painter, and keeping it realisitc and entertaining at the same time..Obviously this game does play the myst school of gaming style, providing the usual item huntin, puzzle clicken blues, but whereas most games of this type seem generic in their mechanics, this game uses the same old mechanics in a different setting giving players a pretty unique experience...
