I never played a Tetris-like game before. When I played it @ E3 (Game convention) I was so addicted to it I played until they made me leave (I returned the day after & the day after that). I will definitely preorder this game. In short, the gameplay is similar to Tetris, there are 2 modes: 2D & 3D. 3D mode is much more challenging in that the block structure spins 360 degrees so you have to be really quick. You can choose to be Team Rocket or Ash Ketchum & can choose 1 of 3 Pokemon available for each team. In battling against another player you can devastate him/her by getting combo plays & that will drop a big slab of concrete on their screen. I personally enjoy 3D more.

Although this is a compleate copy of "Tetris Attack" I found this a game worth playing one the N64! For a while now we've gotten nothing but flunk Pokemon games on the N64 (Pokemon Stadium anyone?), but this game makes up for it! With witty puzzles, two player fun, and no choppy 3D graphics make this a must! I'm still convinced that Pokemon was the only way to get people to buy this game, but who cares? At least it's fun!

Pokemon Puzzle League is so addictive i havent been able to stop playing on it. The game play is the same as Tetris Attack but with the appeal of pokemon, so the two combined are a winning combination. When you play against the computer you are playing against Pokemon trainers and once you have beat one you progress to the next. The fun isnt there though, the fun is beating your friends and you parents, as everyone is going to want to play this game.So you are going to have to make sure that you are the best to make sure that you get a game. Red, Blue, Yellow, TGC, Pinball, Stadium, Snap. How many pokémon games can one player have? Well if your choice is limited, you should definitely make room for this smash hit. Pokémon Puzzle League is the next installment in the poképhenomenon, but you should be warned that it bears about as much resemblance to pokémon battles as the latest FIFA game.
That's not necessarily a bad thing though. If you're an avid gamer, you'll have probably found out by now that PPL is based on the excellent puzzle game, Tetris Attack. For those of you who've played it, you'll have probably discovered how amazingly entertaining and addictive it is. If you've never heard of it, Tetris Attack is a wonderfully playable game that bears no more resemblance to Tetris than the name. The idea is simple: Blocks of various colours rise from the floor and it's your task to get rid of them. You continuously switch blocks around the screen to try and match three or more of the same colour at which point they disappear and the blocks above fall down. Of course, in the event that the rising blocks should reach the top of the screen, it's Game Over for you, mate!
The strategies are much, MUCH more complex than Tetris and the game is infinitely more playable. Tetris Attack is to Tetris what Chess is to Snakes and Ladders. Like Chess, it's often the player who can see the most moves in advance who wins. Unlike Chess, there's a lot of emphasis on speed too and you'll be dripping with sweat as you try to prevent the mountain of blocks from reaching the top of the screen.
Like all the great puzzle games, PPL is deceptively simple to get into, but astonishingly tough to master. Clearing four blocks at once is not all that hard to do, but pulling off multiple combos requires all the brainpower of three supercomputers. That's no easy task when you have an opponent continuously dumping blocks on your screen. The computer AI shows an astonishing level of intelligence and can execute tricks that humans can only dream of. PPL also gives us our first definitive look at Ash on a game (unlike that masked gray haired individual in Stadium) and it also features Ricky: an obscure trainer from the cartoon who befriends Ash at the championships. So at least you know you're not fighting alone against the onslaught of blocks.
In the end, you know that the pokémon license alone will sell this game by the millions. Thankfully, it's actually worth all the hype.

This puzzle game is so much fun and has great grafics! Even if your not a Pokemon fan you'll love this game. I got this for a Christmas present and I always play with it. I'm 13 and it's even hard for me sometimes. You could play against the computer or with a friend.

I enjoy puzzle games and I love Pokemon, so I first rented this game to try it. Little did I know, Pokemon Puzzle League would be one of the greatest games I've played!I was pleased right after I put it in my Nintendo, since a MIDI version of the first season "Pokemon Theme" was playing. As I went through the game, all the songs off 2.B.A. Master (except for "Misty's Song"), plus "Pokemon World" and Angela Via's "Catch Me If You Can" from the "First Movie" were used as background music. The game itself is really awesome! My favorite part is Spa Service. It's challenging yet fun!
The Newest and most Addicting version of Tetris

I am a huge fan of both Pokemon (It's not just for little kids, you know.) and Tetris, especially Tetris Attack, the most addicting Tetris game in history. (My mom even liked it, and she doesn't like playing video games.) This game is the newest version of Attack, and it is much better. The 3D mode adds a lot of challenge and fun to the game. The 3D mode seems awkward at first, but after about ten games of it, you will be able to play it with ease. The 3D mode itself would have made this game worthwhile. The one player game seems to be focused more on Pokemon, but the Pokemon cinema scenes and humor make it a lot more fun than just plain ordinary Tetris. The spa service mode is the best and most challenging part of the game. It seems ridiculously easy at first, but halfway through it I found myself playing most of the levels at least twice. The 2-Player mode is fun, and is more focused on the Tetris part of the game. The main focus is on winning, but some Pokemon related things are found in this mode. I found the Pokemon and Tetris themes to be perfectly balanced. The game wasn't too focused on either element. Everyone should try this game. It is a great investment with a lot of replay value.

I was playing Pokemon Puzzle League a few weeks ago, & I was on Very Hard Mode, & when I went to battle Mewtwo, I found our he was the puzzle master. I was shocked. I battled Mewtwo & it turns out I lost. I've been trying to battle Mewtwo ever since & every time I battle him, I lose. No wonder they call the mode Very Hard. The other trainers want to make it virtually impossible for me to win. Every time I lost to Mewtwo, I've had to battle Gary again. I don't always beat Gary, but I do sometimes. Like I said before, I've never won against Mewtwo, but I try real hard & I'm gonna keep trying until I actually beat Mewtwo. Beating Mewtwo is too hard.

I would just like to say that this is the best puzzle game I've ever played.I have rented this game only once, but about 5 minutes playing and it was my favorite puzzle game. The 1-player modes are excellent. The main mode is a game were you play as Ash Ketchum(the main character from the TV series)as he climbs up the ranks, defeating Gym Leaders, his rival Gary and a few of his friends before facing the Puzzle Master himself. For hardcore puzzle gamers, there's an alternate 1-player game called Spa Service, where Team Rocket steals your Pokemon and you must eliminate all blocks above the flashing line, while the blocks are constantly rising. There's also a 2-player mode featuring 3 different modes of play.Tons of practice exercises can help advance even the newest puzzle gamer. The game is recommended to anyone who likes Pokemon,Tetris Attack or both.

Pokémon Puzzle League is a fine mix between Tetris and Bust-A-Move. The Pokémon license was only thrown in here to sell the game. Of course that'll work, but Puzzle League really is a true gem. The concept behind solving puzzles is really simple, but it takes a little more brain power to pull off combos and chains. Soon, the game gets really hectic while playing on greater speeds, against tough opponents, or battling in a crazy 3D mode. This game is very addictive and requires one to have a keen eye for observation. But it's still very easy to pick up and enjoy. Look past the dinky Pokémon license, because this is true puzzle gaming.
