Don't they know when to quit?

I have been a fan of the classic Mortal Kombat games ever since I can remember playing the first on super nintendo. But this new game is not for the real MK fan. It abandons all of what made it so enjoyable in the first place, gives the player a few new characters and takes on a boring KILLER INSTINCT style. Big Deal. This series can not just keep going on and on doing the same old thing, so why don't they quit? A huge disappointment,

Not Fun, A lot of BLOOD!

Mortal Kombat has been around me most of my life and I am only 11. My parents won't buy MK4 because it is to bloody and has gore. And I admit that. I don't like this game to much ever since I played it on Playstation a t my friends house. Some parts I don't want to watch, even fatality. Please be aware that this game is not for children like me. PS.This game has no option to turn off the very worse parts! Please think before you buy it.

Worst MK GAME EVER!

I love MK games but this one really made me mad. It was way to bloody! Some Fatalities might offened some people because one of them shows the devil turning a guy into a walking dead maniac! Plus I have betten it but it was way to easy! NO FUN AT ALL!

Too bloody!

This has got to be the worst Mortal Kombat game in the series. The blood looks like squares, and there is too much of it. Also, some of the fatalities are so sick that I can't even look at them!

If you like this kind of game, you still may want to rent it first.

Ive Been A Mortal Kombat fan for years. But i was very dissapointed When Mortal kombat 4 Came out.The thing that attracted me to the 1st mortal kombat in the fist place was they used actual people in the game that made it distinktive from many other games, And i belive when people were suggesting to have it in the 3d formatt its that they wanted actual charecters (people) like in part 1,2&3 But in 3 dementianal backgrounds and 3d actual people charecters. Plus i think they bombarded the charecter Rayden he Looks Sorry. Hopefully they will return to useing actual charecters

It's okay...

I was really excited when this game first came out. The advertisements were really cool and I was excited about MK finally going 3D. But, the first con I noticed when I started to play was that it had the same boring music as the last games. The Mortal Kombat movies boasted excellent, exciting music, and I was really hoping that MK4 would incorporate some of that into the game. The music made the movies so much better (and let's face it, probably the only thing that made the second movie worth seeing was the music during the fights).
Killer Instinct has awesome music, which is what makes that game so fun to play. MK4, if it would have had better, faster music, would have been a lot better, IMHO.

What I liked about this game was that old favorites returned. MK3 didn't even have Scorpion (my fave)! So, I'm grateful for his return. The graphics and special moves were cool, as were the weapons...but I feel as though they could have done so much more with the use of weapons. Basically, all you can do is hack and slash with no real technique or anything...

MK4 seems utterly far behind other 3D fighting games (like Tekken). It's unevolved and gets easily boring unless maybe you're a diehard fan. The plot was okay, but the character endings were done sooo poorly. I always thought MK was cool because of its intensity, but the endings in this game were...goofy. The resolution of the conflict between Scorpion and Sub-Zero was done so poorly...I just kept shaking my head.

And even Liu Kang's ending was horrible. The character voices were pathetic. In fact, I was going to give this game 3 stars, but now that I think about it, I'm only going to give it 2. I don't know if the game developers intended to make the game goofy and clown-like, but if they did, then they succeeded. If they were planning on making the game as cool and intriguing as the last ones, then they failed miserably, in my opinion at least.

One more con: Everyone has the same combos! Why?? Run, punch, punch, high kick, roundhouse (or something like that) is everyone's greatest combo it seems. MK3 Ultimate was cool because of all the different combos. But in this game, the only thing that makes one character different from another is the appearance and special moves. The fighting technique is the SAME for EACH character (except Goro, of course).

If you're an MK fan, then it's probably worth buying...but if not, just rent it...

I'm hearing rumors of an MK5 being in the works. If it's true, then I hope that it's more serious and true to the series than this game was. I don't think I'll buy it, though. I don't think I want much of anything to do with MK anymore.

Return of fighters and rip offs of old ones, 3D excellence

The very first 3D Mortal Kombat offers great graphics, new 3D worlds, the return of several fighters, tournaments, 2 on 2 kombat and much more. Scorpion, Goro, Reptile and others return to the game with a few new fighters, however the bad part is that all of the new characters have similar powers as the old characters that were not in the game. Another bad part is that unlike the past few Mortal Kombat games is that this game is very quick to beat and it lacks challenge. To make up for it though, there are the most awesome fatalities of any game, such as Scorpion's very realistic fire, the spinal removal from Sub Zero with a total 3D effect and Liu Kang's throwing his opponent straight toward the camera. Each fighter now has weapons as well to add flavor to the fight.

MK4 is the first Mortal Kombat game to be in 3-D.Good graphics, new grab moves, new characters and old ones! One thing that might bother you is how easy it is. Another thing is the new characters have some same moves as the old one's. I noticed that not too long ago. I love the fatalities though and the level fatalities are awesome. This is a good game but I'm warning you it's not the best MK game around. Look for my logo which is SMK if you want to see more of my reviews. It usually is at the bottom of my review to let anyone know. It might sometimes be by the title of the review too. OUT!

well theres tons of different levels and stages you can go through.each fighter has his own special powers.before you get started youll need to inject caffiene directly into your thumbs to keep up with the computer guy.at first you should take lou kang.hes the easiest guy to learn.everythings easy once your caffiene kicks in up un til you run into goro.hes not even the boss but hes the toughest guy by far on every level.hes a big huge guy who can kill you in like 5 hits.when you hit him,it barely fazes him.just do something repeatedly like raiden[theres a real japanese god called raiden] and his torpedo spear or quan chis tele stomp.the fatalities are very gruesome.one involves a guy ripping off the other dudes leg and then beating him to death with it.ps-for some stupid reason all the cs are ks in this game.

It's in 3-D now!

Though officially the 4th installment in the MK series, Mortal Kombat 4 followed one upgrade game, a compilation game, and a Sub-Zero spinoff game, making it around the 7th actual produced game for the series. It was the first game to utilize a 3-D engine, and the first MK game to feature weapons combat.

While the 3-D engine was a refreshing change of pace after the stale, sprite-based animation of the previous entries, in truth MK4 gets dull rather quickly. Without the 3-D engine, it's pretty much the same as previous installments, only with less characters and less finishing moves. The idea to finally drop the silly finishers like Friendships and Babalities was a good one, but once you go through all the finishers and stage fatalities, you've pretty much seen it all. The basic fight engine is solid, but feels a little too simplistic and generic. The pre-programmed combos were toned down, which should be a good thing, but after awhile you miss the 'wow' factor that came with delivering them. The sidestepping button doesn't really do enough to change things, and weapons are so easily lost that its not worth pulling them out except for the coolness factor.

MK4's still decent and worth buying if you find a used cartridge around, but only because the N64 seriously lacked solid fighting games. The Playstation had plenty of 2-d and 3-d fighters that made MK4 pale in comparison. It's still fun to go a few rounds with friends, and its a nice pre-cursor to the more advanced Deadly Alliance and Deception, but the game just doesnt leave you satisfied.
