Like 007, but BETTER!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 35 / 43

I always wanted 007, but now I think Sarge's Heroes is better! Here's a few cons, before the whole lot of Pros! Cons: One player missions can be frustrating, since you have to start a level all over if you die during one of the multiple tasks per level. In multiplayer mode, the game has frozen a couple of times (I think because we were all pressing the buttons a little too anxiously at the same time). The controls are ok; they take some getting used to. PROS: I have a lot of praise for this game. Great weapons: the deadly flamethrower, the "one shot, one kill" bazooka or grenade gun, the machine gun, sniper, etc. The action is fun, too--partly serious warfare, partly comicalness. You can run around the town, base, etc., or in the bathroom, livingroom, etc. I have never laughed or had so much fun whipping friends as I have it this game. Snipering is the best; I can't explain how funny it is to be snipering your friend unawares, while he is snipering somebody else. I've had Goldeneye fans play the game (once!) & tell me they like 007 better, but having played both a lot, I like Sarge's. You can jump, warp, dive, and sniper in Sarge's, plus the weapons are more fun. You can also turn off the radar during 4-player, which makes for some hilarious encounters. This is THE party game! I recommend this game to everyone; it's a true classic!

Cool, Good Story, Fun, and Easy to Play

This is a classic. The controls are easy, you can learn in five minutes although I must admid turning can be annoying because of sluggishness. Missions are not hard, but they are not easy. A good intermediate game. Large selection of weapons - m-16, 50 caliber, flamethrower, mortar, mines, etc. Fun battles between the green and tan men, to go with a good story. Good graphics and realism, but no sickening violence. Good for kids and adults. Multiplayer is awesome. Codes are also given after each level.

One of the best shooters on 64.

I am very pleased with my purchase of Sarge's Heroes. It is one of those games that will make you late for appointments because you want to finish that level. I love how each mission prepares you for the next. You actualy feel that you are a better player after finishing a level. the multiplayer is great for teaming up with and against your friends.

Kick some plastic butt

You will play the game for a while in single player, but then after you finish it it's only going to be multiplayer. AND IT IS FUN, FUN, AND FUN after that, even tough the graphics arent so good, it's just awesome to kick your friend's butts with flame throwers , bazookas, machine guns grenades and so on... The game also require strategy, like hiding on top building and waiting for the enemy to appear, or take cover under bunker, it is just FUNNNNNNNNN!

The Battle Of The Green And Tan Continues. . . .

This game combines challenging and fun techniques from a army men kinda view. This game is excellent for anyone who has ever played with a box of little green men. I'm glad that the Army Men series has finnaly came to Nintendo. There are flaws in this game. Such as sometimes difficult to control the player. Plus sometimes the enemies don't even react when you are right in front of them.

Great detail and loads of fun!

This has been a very enjoyable game to play. The combat is amusing and challenging. The scenario's become more challenging as you progress - not only in missions but length as well. I would highly recommend you go through boot camp first to learn the ropes since the missions require observation and tactical maneuvers. Your character is able to pick up weapons and ammunition as well as medkits and unlike many games, you will be required to think about which weapons to use. Not everything in your inventory is appropriate for the situation at hand. I'd have to say that my favorite weapon is the sniper rifle. I use it to pan the landscape since there is a high-power scope on it. Another very useful inventory item was the mine sweeper. The details on the figures themselves were great. They stand, pose, aim, and crawl in classical toy army men style - and they even have the seams on their bodies just like the "real" thing. There were some things that added to the challenge but they are not mission related. The controls are not always easy to handle. The aiming is a tad slow and your opponents seem to move faster than you do. Also, some glitches in the game may cause your character to become "stuck" into the scenery which you may or may not be able to get out of. The multi-player combat is split screen which can make seeing your character's difficult. You should have a memory pack so that you can save your games, otherwise, you'll just have to finish each mission and use the codes you are given. There's plenty to explore and a lot of fun to be had. A nicely rounded game with enough to keep you busy.

This game is great for the person who likes 007 but their parents don't like the blood. It has no blood, just plastic and they are just little plastic figures. The graphics are pretty good and the weapons are awesome. I would recomend this game to anyone. It is the best game after 007.

Over all great game, I can't wait to play the new one

I think that this is a great action game. It is challenging, but with practice and better understanding of how to use the weapons and controls, it is a game that you will sit down and try to beat it. Unlike they say I found that there is no need for a memory card. After you beat each level they give you a code, just write it down and enter it in next time you play. (done at the "enter code" option at the start of the game). Little tip though watch out for men with flame throwers!

excellent game

This really is a great game. The single player missions are just great, the panoramas are amazing and the graphics in general are just quite good. There are lots of cool details: the sniper rifle is amazing (much better than that of bond) and you have to use each gun, not like in bond where you just use the biggest, most powerful weapon available. The single player levels are challenging but still doable.

Although the single player levels are good, the multiplayer levels are amazing. It's great fun chasing your friends around with the flame thrower or sniping them or what not.

Buy this game, it's the best option out there on the N64.
