This game is fun. That fact is undeniable. However, this is not the first thing you will say about the game. The first thing that will come to mind after playing All Star Baseball for the first time is something along these lines: "how am i supposed to get a hit?" "was it meant to be this hard?" "this is frustrating!!!!!!!!" The controls take some getting used to, especially the BASE RUNNING!!!!!!! If you go in thinking this will be fun for an arcade game, take a pass. The game takes patience and a lot of practice, but in the end it is worth it. Within a week the average gamer should have it mastered and be moving up the difficulty level. Kudos to the game for it's amazing ammounts of stats, graphics, and choices for game types. Curse them for there base running, AI, and lack of first names for players. The announcer is also half dead, but it's good that they at least have an announcer. This game is detailed, interesting, and yes, very fun; it's not for the weak kneed or impatient however.
Great Game

This was chosen as the best among the competition. It works well on Game Boy Advance SP (GBA SP). The graphics are good, as is the sound (I turn off the music). The game play is good, but the buttons can be slightly confusing (they switch depending on what is happening), so you may want to consult the manual. The stadium details are very good and required if you are a fan of a particular team and/or stadium.
This game needs work

First off, this game would be all right if it were not for the HORRIBLE baserunning. Not to mention the AI of the baserunners. It will appear obvious that a ball will drop for a hit but the runners will hold and wait until it falls, sometimes getting thrown out in the process. I am not sure if the runners are just slow, the outfielders all have cannons for arms or what but I have been thrown out at first with a single to right field. The hitting is OK, the ball DOES NOT always just go up the middle, try reading the instruction manual on hitting before playing. You must first select the area of the park you want the ball to go before you hit, or do it as the pitch is coming. Keep in mind however, that the latter is extremely to do as the difficulty setting is increased. You cannot slide in any way either, this makes it nearly impossible to steal a base, not to mention hit a triple. So...

Oh, by the way, how many friggin cards do I need to unlock anything?
Also, in the team managment portion, the game will not allow you to trade willingly with other teams. For example, you cannot trade your sub-caliber players for Bonds or Thome, and that is ridiculously LAME.
Some other things that would make this game better:
Bench clearing brawls
The ability to charge the mound
Rain and other elements during a game
Create-a-player mode
First names of players

Not bad. It's pretty good game. The only thing I don't like is the pace of the game. It takes 30 - 45 min just to finish 1 game. I wish there was a way to speed up the game...
Good Game

The two stars for this game are both for graphics. This game has by far the best graphics of any baseball game available for GBA. Graphics are nice, but it doesn't make a game.
Gameplay is bad. There's nothing else to say. When you do get a hit, it always goes up the middle. Baserunning is a joke, you can get thrown out at first from the outfield. Pitching is ok, but I've never enjoyed pitching on any baseball game. I'm interested in batting and running.
Don't buy this game. I traded mine in for something else.

As an adult I found the game to be quite limited. The music and effects are pretty good. I noticed an outright bug where on several occassions I have seen the computer get a double play on me and call each runner safe as the ball was thrown. Which is it? Safe or out?
There really isn't much depth to this game(no stadium detail, no team level choices.. etc) but its still fun to pick up for a quick game once in a while.
Pick it up if your a fan or for your kids.
Good game

This game is really fun when you first get it. But after a while you get bored of it. The controles are hard but after a while you get used to them.
