This game Rocks and its not only for High speed internet users. Those who tell you you need a Cable or ADSL Modem haven't got a clue about how a computer works. Everything on BF 1942 is server side the actual amount of info that is passed back and forth is ver very small. Your system is the big factor in BF 1942. Processor Speed, memory, Hard Drive acsess speed and Video speed are all much more important than Connection speed. I play BF 1942 Multi Player on a 28.800 connection, I have my system Tweaked out and I get very little lag. I love it when those who have no clue about how the ineternet works scream at me because my ping is above 350, I laugh blow them away and increase my standing. If you are running a decent system (1.5 gig porcessor and 512 DDR with at least 128 of vedio mem) this game will run very well using Dial up.

I'll spare you all the usual blurb about this game and will simply sumarise by saying this:
- it's terrific fun. I mean it - it completely immerses you and makes you feel like you're there
- you can do whatever you want in each of the missions, including sitting back and watching your friends go in and try the attack themselves (and sometimes succeed!)
- the graphics, sound and gameplay are rivetting: you feel scared - as you should in this kind of game
I loved it, finished it and am playing it again. Thoroughly recommended...
Happy shopping

I bought this game upon the recommendation of "Extended Play" review and favorable reviews from owners. If you buy this game you might as well settle in with massive quantities of snacks and sodas-IT IS AWESOME! 2-3 hours at one sitting is commonplace, it is that much fun. I am relatively new at gaming, and more so at PC gaming, but I am loving this! Amazon.com made a great deal on the Deluxe Edition, with "Road to Rome" expansion pack and free shipping! ...

I've owned this game now for the past few weeks and feel I am now able to offer a review. I hope some of you find it useful.
Firstly, my comp specs:
Atlon 1.2Ghz
1 Gig Ram
Geforce 4ti 4600 Graphics Board
Win XP
512K Cable Connection
I run the game in 1024 x 728 resolution with all settings set to maximum and it runs smoothly and looks great. It only 'jerked' slightly when I was downloading a 250 mb file at the same time as playing!
The gameplay itself is fantastic. You can fly planes, drive jeeps, tanks even have access to battleships. At first these are hard to master but once you've practiced, and plenty of it, you should quickly become a force to reckoned with.
Most missions are objectively based so you will have to carry these out if you want to continue. Generally you and the enemy have a pool of lives each, which are depleted as you and your team mates get killed. You have to carry out the objectives prior to all your teams lives being used. The missions are historically based and quite accurate from what I hear too. The Road to Rome expansion pack adds to the longevity of the game offering addtional maps and missions and what also adds is the fact that you can play as either the Allies or Axis.
Where this game comes into its' own is in multiplayer mode over the internet. It is fair to say you do really need a hefty connection to get the best form this as there is so much going on. Theres nothing better than sitting in an anti aircraft placement shooting at fellow interneters in their planes as they fly overhead. You can also climb into a vehicle with one of your friends so that one drives and you've got an intelligent mate doing the shooting. On line you could just play it and play it and play it. Couple this with the desert combat mod, which gives you access to jets and helicopters and puts you in the gulf war it really is just superb.
So thats it really, a thoroughly enjoyable game, well executed in my opinion, and just great fun. Buy it and enjoy it!

Well ive played some great war game befor but this is by far the greatest. After buying this game and installing it i learned 1 thing, well two.
*This game is great
*PRACTICE PRACTIC PRACTICE.
You must know your history, on some of the levels such as Omaha Beach, it shows the level with u-boats washed on the shore, wich was what really happened. Nearly everything is perfect to actual events, while some things have been add to create a better fun factor for gamers, example; more tanks on levels where there was really only 1 tank, or no tanks or vehicles. \
Playing this game takes learned skill. Flying planes for example is hard as heck the first time around, when i first started flying it was ugly , still is, but im alot beter. If you are really having problems go online and play, watch how the pro players fly and ask questions.
best experience ever

First of all, this game is not a great single player game. Not bad but not great. This game was made for multiplayer. There is nothing more gratifying than watching a battle unfold right before your eyes, and your a part of it. Start as a scout and if your tired of wolking hop in a tank and blast away. DO NOT LET THIS GAME PASS YOU BY!!!

okay, you want a great WW2 game, well here it is. just forget all the medal of honnor stuff, and go to this. it blows it out of the water. its so realistic. the game play is great. it takes a bit to get use to the controls, but after a while you will have it mastered. The bots on the game are pretty easy to beat, they even sometimes run right by you not even paying attention to you. but over all they can give you a challenge. but the high light of this game, the multiplayer. you get to go online and play with up to 60 other people. its great and a lot of fun. so if you are looking for a great game, well here it is. and the expansion pack makes it even better.
Great Game!!!!

This game is great no questions asked, single player gets much more difficult from easy to hard and multiplayer is outstanding. If u find a vehicle or plane u can drive it, if in single player and AI is in it u can kick them out. I also recommend getting Battlecraft 42, look for a download online, its a great mapmaking addition to the game, make your own maps then play them.
