C'mon. This game has a great interface and all...but a 30 second spawn wait in single player?! That is absurd. The only reason I am giving this two stars is because of the vehicles. You can get in every vehicle. That is the only good point. The AI is awful. They will not even engage in melees. They will just go prone and fire like two shots on their pistol EVEN WHEN their primary gun is a machine gun! How dumb is that?! If you want a good FPS game, buy Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. Much more worth it. And, what's more, MOHAA is actually a good game!
Good but not THAT good.

The idea & the game in overall is good. But because of its copy-protection program in it, it causes a lot of bugs. Even with my super high-end computer in 2003 (Athlon 2500+ 1.84GHz, 512DDR SDRam, Radeon 9600 Pro-128MB) it still bugs a lot. About the game, the Americans all wear the same uniform in every battles, from Europe to the Pacific which is wrong. The AI lacks a bit of intelligence when given orders or by itself. Reloading is not automatic & should be (like in Medal of Honor Allied Assault), like if you would not reload in a battle?! Good thing is that you're able to use the ennemies' weapons like in real life. The only big problem is the bugs. That's all. & the AI. & the uniforms.
Multiplayer: the only good thing

Single player isn't bad, I mean you get to fly planes, ride in a jeep, a sit in the back of a truck while someone else drives you, but the game is so easy, it's not even fun anymore. even a 6 yr old could defeat the game in hard. Another anoying and ridiculous thing is the 30 sec respawn. It's happened to many times that i won the battle before respawning. Something else, is Omaha beach, there's like 10 allies that land on the beach, surtaintly not what really happened! Multiplayer is the only really fun thing about the game, so if you want more than just multiplayer, don't waste your money, and buy Medal of Honor. it's cheaper, and a lot better!!!!

I have played this game and its expansion pack at my local LAN gaming center, and it is such a rush. With 5 character classes (scout, assault, anti-tank, medic, and engineer), many vehicles, maps, and fast paced play, i would highly recommend it. This deluxe set is a pretty good price compared to what else you see.

This game is incredible if your into 1st player action sequences. If you want relive battles of WW2 in the Pacific, Europe, and North Africa then this game is for you. Battles include Iwo Jima, Battle of the Bulge, Wake Island, Battle for Berlin, Stalingrad, and Omaha Beach. Just an amazing game but the online gaming takes the cake. You can play as the Axis or the Allies.

Thia game puts the most important thing first: Gameplay. Graphics are ok. Not great, but liveable.
But it is FUN! Addicting! Stayed up all night playing on my LAN against a friend. Even 1 on 1 was fun.
Vehicles are great. Although the planes can be difficult to get used to piloting.
I highly recommend this game. I do not recommend this game if you have a social life, because it will suffer drastically. :)

Although this claim is difficult to state as Call of Duty is nearly out, so far Battlefield 1942 beats out any WW2 game (or any war game, FPS or RTS) that I have ever played. The controls are incredibly easy to manage, the graphics put you on a real battlefield, and the sounds truly bring you to the scary heat of battle.
Then comes the concept and gameplay. This game truly makes you feel like you are part of a real time battle, and puts you at the site of many famous slaughters in WW2 history. Although you are one of many in this battle, the game truly makes it possible for the individual player to make a huge difference in the fighting. In summary, the best WW2 FPS as of now.

3.20 GHz Intel Pentium 4
512 MB SDRAM
200 GB Hard Disk
DVD-ROM: 16x; DVD Recorder: (DVD+RW);
Microsoft XP Media Center Edition
VisiontTek Xtasy 9800 PRO 256 MB
Battlefield 1942 Deluxe Edition is the best online WWII ever
and if you have a good computer and a DSL or higher you are
to play. I have played with a slower computer and you need
a 2.0GHz or higher or the game will be slow. You will be online playing for hours with it and it has all the weapons of WWII and the Germens and Jap. You fight Air,Sea and land and it will not get better then that.
SWEET GAME!!!
