Great Action Adventure Game

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 19 / 22

If you enjoy adventure games, be sure to give the PSP version of Spider-Man 2 a try. It's got a nice combination of puzzles, exploration, and fighting enemies.

You are of course Peter Parker, newspaper reporter by day and crime-fighting webslinger by night. There is a nice amount of plot here, with well done cut-scenes that help to move the story along. You get the sense that you are participating in a sequence of events, not simply bashing away at random enemies.

The grahpics are really quite impressive, from the buildings you move around and the people you encounter. The cut scenes in particular are quite well cone.

The sounds are reasonable, with the original actors coming on to reprise their roles. Again, this really helps with the immersion factor of the game, that you are really becoming part of the Spider-Man world.

I like the fact that gameplay is a mix of styles. Sometimes you are saving cars from falling. Sometimes you are pulling down enemies in helicopters. Sometimes you are kicking and punching with street punks. In addition to your main objectives, there are other things you can do, other places you can go explore. It's up to you how you handle your current list of objectives.

If you just focus on the main tasks, you can zip through the game pretty quickly. But that is true of most adventure games. The glory is that you can roam around at your leisure, exploring the nooks and crannies, looking to see what hidden secrets are waiting for you. That is what helps the game last a long time and adds to the replayability factor.

Well recommended!

First disk I got for my PSP

and I loved it! The graphics are PS2 quality, the storyline feels somehow better than the PS2 version, you listen to the same rock music that plays while you play the levels and the extra features are really good. The extra's include cheats, level selection, story board and a few more things that would fascinate huge Spiderman fans. The gameplay is the usual "kick-punch-dead" and the levels are usually easy but when you fight some baddies, it becomes really difficult. The movie played in between levels are EXCELLENT quality and I think it's the best Action game on the PSP...now.

Spider-Man Fun

The best game ever! The music is super-cool but the game is short. It's pretty hard, though. Not so much combos, but the graphics are EXCELLENT! You'll be beating up a thousand goons, save hostages and stop 2 out-of-control reactors from blowing up and destroying Manhattan. This game is worth a rent.

I wasn't sure about what happened with my children's leap pad, but I read the trouble shouting page and decide to buy another pen just to see if this was the problem. And it was, but my decision to bye the Spiderman pen was perfect to make my little one prefer to play with the toy. Thank you

Very Cool

If you have played the PS2 or GCN version of this, I have to tell you it is slightly different (In a good way!). If you haven't played the PS2 or GCN versions you will still love this game. It has all the same web-swinging action as the others do. Spiderman 2 has a different web-swinging style then the first game did. Instead of swinging in mid-air, you shoot one web at one building, jump, shoot another web at another building and repeat. You can also walk on streets unlike the first game. You can climb up onto the top of the highest building, dive down and swing on web at the last second! Overall: INCREDIBLE!!!

Spiderman 2 for PSP ... my son loves it!

When my son got his PSP for CHRISTmas, Spiderman 2 was the one game he really wanted. No longer in stores, I went to Amazon knowing it would be there. My son, 12½, says the graphics are excellent, it's one of the best, & you don't get bored. I watched him play - it does look good, especially on the PSP screen. The game features a 'green level' in which the player can perfect moves, get the feel of the game, or leisurely swing building to building from a thin web above the city without the assignments given to Spiderman in the actual game mode. I must admit the graphics & aerial views of the city are pretty cool!

as good as ps2

when i got the psp i bought this game too. I was blown away, the graphics in the movies are just as god as ps2, the regular graphics are already amazing by themselves. If you have a choice between this and nintendo DS GET THIS!!!!!!! i watched the trailer for spiderman 2 on the DS and its a side scroller with jacked up GBA graphics, HELLO, THIS THING IS 3D!!!! the only problem i would have is that it doesnt take a long time to beat. I beat it the next day. BUT, it has an amazing replay value. I just play 'illusions of grandeur' and 'waxy residue' (two mysterio levels) and i never get bored. Also JJJ is really funny "mysterio??...... isnt that a breakfast cereal?" haha and "doctor octavius, ive got it. Doc Ock, its like he was askin for it" then peter says "thats stu-great"

DS thumbs down

This is so much better than the DS version! In this game you don't have to touch to make a special move work.

Welcome to the PSP!

If you own the PS2 version of Spider Man 2, that may have scared you off from buying this one. Don't let it! This is really a good game all by itself, and it is completely different from the PS2 version that came out last year. The graphics in the cutscenes are amazing (much better than the PS2), and the real actor's voices are used again. Gameplay is relatively simple to catch onto (there's a tutorial, but no Bruce Campbell this time). It's a great introduction to the PSP, and I'd highly recommend it as a starter game. If this is how it's going to be, then the PSP is going to rule!

It's ok

Simply put, this game is fun but not worth the money.

Why?

The game is short. I beat it in two days. Although it is fun to play, it is pretty easy to beat.

The graphics are good but not great. Although all the original actors do the voices, the characters look nothing like them. All the women look manly and the men look ugly.

Enemy AI is pretty bad. All you have to do (for the most part) is crawl on the ceiling and you can walk right past all the bad guys.

The only fights that are good are the boss fights. Every other bad guy that you fight goes down in 3 hits. Even the boss fights can get really repetitious and boring sometimes.

In conclusion, just rent this game. It is not worth it to own especially when you can easily beat it within a week.
