I am a huge fan of all the GTA series that has come out. If you are a GTA fan you must get this game. When I first starting playing the game, I could not believe what I was seeing. How did Rockstar fit this all on the PSP. Gameplay and missions are awesome. The controls take a bit to get used to, so I would recommend exploring before you get right into the missions. The only thing I have found that I didn't like is driving. It seems to me that the analog is really sensative when it comes to the driving. Like anything though it will just take some time to get used to. I allready can't wait for the next one to come out. I would like to see an original GTA come out on the PSP, one that doesn't piggyback from the other GTA's.

As expected, this is a return to GTA3's Liberty City. The graphics are remarkable but of course not quite as good as on the PS2 or XBox. The frame rate drops off when things get busy (making "4 star" chases more interesting). The missions are new yet familiar, as is the music, radio chatter, and street talk. Everything else is pretty much GTA3 cloning or upgrades. The gameplay is solid and intuitive as always. The default controls are pretty odd, and the alternative set is almost exactly like on the PS2, so just make things easy on yourself and switch to the alternative controls right away. I like that the game auto-snoozes when you don't play for a few minutes, then starts right back up when you press the Start button. Very nice for playing during commercials while watching TV, and something that doesn't work on every PSP game. A couple more PSP games of this caliber, and I'll stop buying PS2 games altogether, take the XBox 360 off of my list, and just stick to the PSP. Why hassle with a console when the PSP is almost as good and way more convenient?
Best PSP game by far

This game is everything you want in a portable game, quick missions, great graphics and a huge career mode. In this game you can do virtually anything, killing people for no reason and escaping from cops, hiring prostitutes, the list goes on and on. You start as this guy named Vince in Liberty City (same place as GTA III)and you are very low in the mofia. You start to earn your rank in the mob by completing various missions. The plot isn't excellent but it has pretty good depth in comparrison to other PSP titles. There is a huge range of realistic cars, weapons and other things of that sort. Also there are fun cheats for when you are just fooling around such as new weapons, cars that drive on water, and never wanted by the cops. This is a must buy game but only if you are over 18.

GTA Liberty City Stories is really good for a fan of the series. The graphics are great for a handheld. You can even compare them to the GTA's on the consoles, thats how good they are. There is some slowdown just like the consoles though. When your driving and theres cops all around you the game lags pretty bad. I also ran into some freezing problems. I got it new so there should be no freezing. But occasionally the game freezes when it load up. And there were also some sound problems. You could get on a bike and drive around, but the bike doesn't make the bike sounds. there are no sound effects of the bike. So I just get off then back on. Sure the story line is not that great, but neither are the other ones. People dont play for the story though. They play to have hectic distructive fun, which is what you will be doing for hours doing whatever you want to do in Liberty City. Yes the setting is the same as GTA 3, but with plenty more to do, you wont care at all.
PROS: graphics
gameplay
handheld wonder
CONS: some lag
story line
repetitive
basically the same as the other GTA's
some freezing

This is the possibly the best portable game ever created. It has playstation 2 quality graphics and is made by rockstar games (best known for the legendary GTA series.) Definitely worth the price (49.99). It is pretty much a remix of the PS2 version of GTA III because it is set in Liberty City. You can even download extra features like cars and guns and store them on a memory stick duo. So If you liked any other GTA game you will LOVE this one.
A must have

Simply put, this is THE GAME for the mobile gaming market.
This game looks incredible, you can barely tell a difference between the console version and this one. It does lag for about a half a second at very rare times, but its so seldom you almost dont notice it.
The controls are not as good as San Andreas, but thats to be expected. None the less the controls are VERY good for the limited buttons on the PSP.
If you have a PSP, then you MUST own this game! (assuming your of age)

Great game, fun and takes a while to get through all the missions. However, I was a bit bummed that there were not more gangster missions...only 40% complete if you do all the gangster missions and complete the story mode.
So far, my favorite of the series!

I only had about a half-hour to play this yesterday, but so far its my favorite in the series. It starts out strongly, and contains a lot of adult dialogue that made me chuckle. The graphics are excellent for the PSP. The fact that I found it new on store shelves for only $15 made it that much sweeter. If you have a PSP, get this game. Check around though, you can find a deal on it.

This game was the main reason I bought a PSP. And to be honest, it is worth every penny. The graphics aren't quite as detailed but still very impressive. The action feels just as gritty and real as on the big-brother consoles. Pretty cool storyline but there is an issue with repetition as far as the missions go. My only complaints are that the game freezes up sometimes, and that the pedestrians on the street don't talk as much junk as on the other versions.
Still, get this game.
