This is a fantastic game! The graphics are comic-book like and the story is amazing. If you are a X-Men fan you should really get this game. You can explore the mansion, throw bad guys off buildings, and trip giant robots. It is a fun game and it really gets you stuck on it. The peoples powers are amazing- Use storm to throw bad guys in a tornado! There are many ways to kill guys like cornering them and beating them, zapping them, freezing them, punching them, and throwing them
I highly recommend this game!!!!

I played this game for 4-5 hours with my 8-year old son and it was unbelievably frustrating. I've never played a game before with such horribly designed levels, where you fight your way through hordes of bad guys for 2 hours only to find yourself facing a bridge and the WRONG X-Man character to get across it, so you have to start all over at a long-gone save where that particular character is still alive, and someone manage to keep him/her alive long enough to reach the bridge. The camera view is horrible, so that you can only see about 10 feet in front of your characters. There is no way to heal your most vulnerable characters because there are woefully few health drops. The A.I. controlled X-men characters are so freaking stupid that they'll walk right off a cliff and die, which means you have to constantly switch from your favorite char to one of the idiot A.I. chars to get them in the right place, and they constantly get stuck and are too stupid to jump over little obstacles to keep up with you. This game is fun when it works, which is only really when you're playing solo or 2-player co-op, when you don't have to deal with the stupid A.I. Overally, I became so frustrated and angry while playing this game that I had to shut it off. Only an X-men fan would give this a 5-star rating because the game levels are a confusing mess, the A.I. is stupid, there are no clues for solving puzzles (like crossing damaged bridges), and you have to use a specific X-men character to solve certain parts of the game, with no warning in advance, and that char probably will die before you reach it. Horrible, horrible game. The only game I've played that's worse than this is TMNT for Xbox, and I play about 100 games per year.
Love it!!

Finally, at long last, a game worthy of the X-Men title. X-Men Legends is a really fun game with a very intense story. Playing the new student Magma, you learn as you go along through the game as she does in the story. The animation and FMVs are excellent. You have your choice of your favorite mutants, with the exception of some missing.
The voice talents in the game are great. Patrick Stewart reprises his role as Professor Charles Xavier. The voice talent has to be good for this game since there is a lot of talk that you can go through in this game. One of the coolest parts about the game is that you can tour the X-Mansion with free will; this allows you to basically go to any part of the mansion you desire. While walking around, you will bump into other students and famous X-Men. You can talk to them which adds another cool aspect to the game. If you talk to some X-men, you will be able to play a flashback story. Here, the X-Men will be in their classic attire from the comics. These levels don't have to be played, but they add so much more to the overall story.
If you aren't traditionally an RPG fan, you will still find things to love in this game. Whether it is the story, game play or just because you get to play most of your favorite mutants, this game has a lot to offer. The game play is fun and easy to learn, a must play for all X-men fans that have been waiting for a great game. You have found it here.
Really fun game

I was absolutely floored by this game. I haven't been in a multiplayer game this good. Ever. And that includes team play on FPS games on computer, etc. The graphics are superb. The gameplay is top notch and very kinetic, while being natural and easy to master. The story arc is killer Marvel material, and the voice acting is fantastic! Seriously this game is as near perfect a game as it gets. The only detractor is that breaking stuff gets a little tedious (though it's always fun!) and the auto-camera gets a little wonky at times. Really, that's probably because of how the group play works and how much horsepower the XBox can provide.
All told the engine, the graphics, the gameplay, the interface, and nearly every aspect I can think of for this game is at the top of the field and certainly state of the art. About the only thing that will rival it is the same or very similar game on the 360 with better resolution!
Do NOT hesitate to buy this game. It's at the classic game price, so it's a steal, and I'm never trading it in. We gather up the gang and go multiplayer all the time. And even single player it's a riot (and can be pleasantly difficult!).
Absolutely Tip Top.
The best X-Men story comitted to a game

There's a lot of great characters in X-Men tossed to the waste side by others that I really could care less about (IE Moonstar never getting a real spotlight when Gambit and Colossus are constantly wasting paper... and they brought Colossus back only to waste more paper!) When I plugged this game in to discover that one of those more obscure "New Mutants" characters was the lead character I was very excited. Although Alison (Magma) is not one of my favorites the fact that she is being acknowledged in an X-Men game gives me hope that some of the great unknowns of the Marvel Universe may get their fifteen minutes after all (Come on Moonstar!) Its an expansive world to be sure, and you always have to have Wolverine, Cyclops, Rogue, Storm, Beast, Ice-man, Angel (Warren Worthington III), and Jean Grey but we could stand to do without paper wasters like Bishop, Gambit, and Colossus. It's refreshing to be sure, to see some more variety in characters.
Rogue has only recently been being used more in the games, Psylocke has seen plenty of action in the past tough, but its good to have her around, but what makes this installment of the X-men series really special is that this is the first and only time I have been able to play as my kid sister's role model Jubilee. I've missed her terribly in the comics, and I was relieved to not only have her in this game, but also have her on my team.
So far this game has done two major things right, an excellent story, and a diverse cast that doesn't force you to rely on other people's favorite paper wasters. My team often consists of Jean, Wolverine, Rogue and the ever-handy Ice Man.
The game play is also darn right perfect for an action RPG. Level ups are not spaced too far, the action is quick paced, puzzle solving is not overly complicated, and many missions have multiple outcomes depending on what you can and can't accomplish. I also really enjoyed the danger room feature. Best of all is how powerful the X-Men can get the more they level up. It's tempting to at least level up high enough to fill in all the dots on their character sheets.
Voice acting, however, is so-so. The actor playing Wolverine is no Mark Hammel, but performs surprisingly well regardless. Jean is well done, as is Beast, but Night crawler, Cyclops, Mystique, and especially Storm leave a lot to be desired. Patrick Stewart sadly sounds bored in his role and Alison sounds way to perky and often irritating.
The biggest disappointment about this game is its graphics. It was obvious that this title was not given the budget it deserved. There is no lip movement, facial details are scare, and in game cut scenes are nearly non-existent making this the least cinematic RPG I have played this generation. Being that this is an X-men game the lack of detail is highly disappointment.
Despite the disappointing graphics, and voice acting this is definitely the best X-men game to date, and I am looking forward to the sequel, though I do hope for improved detail, facial animations, and in game cut scenes, and the like. Definitely pick this one up, though if your sticky about graphics don't expect much.
Great Story Line ...

I think that this game has great reply value because you can go through the game all over again and be a different character everytime. Although the storyline never changes and the same enemies keep popping up in the same places, it causes you to rely on different moves and strategies in order to get through certain scenes. One of the draw backs to the game is that its a good idea to have Storm or Cyclops with you alot throughout the game because they can weld things shut with lightening (storm) or with an optic blast (cyclops). The draw back is that Storm takes a few seconds longer in throwing her lightening than other xmen characters do when they execute a special attack and you end up getting beat to a pulp trying to hit one enemy with one bolt of lightening. However Storm is a much better melee fighter than Cyclops is in this game. As you go through the game, Storm can add lightening to her punches and kicks whereas Cyclops is only punching and kicking without any special powers. Alot of his hits get blocked by the enemies he is trying to fight, which leaves him blasting everything with his eyes. Which is not effective if you have a room FULL of enemies and he is trying to take them out ONE enemy at a time.
Another drawback to the game is that it is also a good idea to have Iceman or Jean Grey with your team as well as they can both build bridges (Ice Bridge) or (Psychic Bridge)... but the good thing about both of them is that they are pretty good melee fighters as well. Like Storm can add lightening to her hits, both Jean Grey and Iceman can add psychic damage or ice damage to their punches and kicks, which helps out in the long run when fighting enemies that have ALOT of health to deplete in order to defeat them. One great move that i like to use alot that Jean Grey has is a Telekinetic Shout. If you are being overwhelmed with attacks, Jean Grey can shout telepathically and cause all enemies around her to slam against the wall and then when they get up to fight, they are moving slower and weaker than before, making it easier for other x-men on your team to defeat them. Also, Jean Grey has the ability to make a telekinetic shield around herself and her teammates protecting them from damage from their attackers. Wicked Cool!!
Some other things i noticed about the game that i found to be a drawback or just down right incorrect is that Beast, Rogue and Colossus are ALL strong players, however, they walk and fight much slower than the rest of the group (they walk and fight like they are trying to fight while covered in paste) and they cannot add extra damage to their punches or kicks. They are simply relying on their fists and feet the entire time. Also, Rogue and Colossus can make themselves invulnerable like in the cartoon (Rogue already being strong enough to withstand many punches and kicks from enemies and Colossus being made from Steel) ... however, you have to keep using up your mutant energy to make yourself made of Steel or invulnerable and it depletes your energy too quickly if everytime you turn around you have to "rearm yourself" with something that should be 'standard' with that particular x-man already.
Even though Jubilee is my favorite X-Men character, i found that in this game, she was not true to form. One thing i found most odd about Jubilee's character is that they allowed you load up your players screen for her with the ability to basically use mind control over her enemies and confuse them to be "nonviolent" for a short while. I dont know about you, but i have NEVER seen Jubilee use mind control before IN MY LIFE!! Also, Jubilee throws out her fireworks all wrong. This game has her throwing out her fireworks like Gambit throws out his playing cards. She tosses these fireworks (the game calls them globules) in a manner of 7 different directions, instead of in a straight line the way it should be. Her fireworks blasts should be like Cyclops' Optic Blasts, select your enemy and fire at will. Not randomly throwing them out and praying that they hit your enemy. You can level up Jubilee's Fireworks so she can throw out 7 Globules at a time but you practically have to be standing RIGHT by your enemy for it to be effective. Jubilee is not a good melee fighter, so she basically is committing suicide trying to defeat these enemies, while she is throwing her fireworks all over God's creation and using her fake mind control to win. But i still love her special X-men attack (Independence Day). It's pretty cool and effective.
My favorite character to use is Gambit. This game allows him to build up his fighting style with kinetic energy which makes him a much better fighter than Cyclops, and you have the ability to basically "recharge" yourself with more kinetic energy and it effects your teammates on the screen as well, allowing them to add kinetic energy to their fighting style and speeds up all characters so they move and fight faster than in normal mode. Also, Gambit has a staff slam ability which allows him to slam the ground with his staff and it knocks down all enemies that are near him, which comes in handy when you are being overwhelmed with attacks. Another great thing about this game is Nightcrawler... although he is not a good melee fighter, he is GREAT at his attacks when teleporting. Teleport Frenzy is his special attack and its good to use when they are many enemies in a room and you want to hit each one of them in order to get some of their health down a little. He goes around the room hitting everything on the screen (at least once, sometimes several times) and then comes back to his original spot. You can also make Nightcrawler almost invisible when fighting, which is good because enemies dont know he is there and dont go after him and try to attack him. If he gets hit, its only by accident and/or randomly.
I do not like playing with Wolverine, Magma or Psylocke AT ALL. First off, Psylocke doesnt even get unlocked until the game is about 70% the way through and her fighting style is too much like a wet noodle and not very easy to control in my opinion. Wolverine's fighting style is somewhat ok, but you have to play him for about the first 15% the way through the game and by that time, im sick of using him. The only good thing about Wolverine is his healing factor... when low on energy, he will heal himself, other players cant do that, other than that, he is pretty much useless if you ask me. As for Magma, i dont use her cause first off, i have no idea who she is or where she came from and her fighting style is almost exactly like Storms. And i like using Storm alot better because she has the ability to make a storm shield around herself and teammates when fighting and all Magma can do is turn herself into Lava and only can protect herself.
When playing this game, i find that the best team for me is Gambit, Iceman, Jean Grey, and Nightcrawler.
All in all, this game is GREAT.... i find myself playing it ALL the time and trying new and different things with characters. It makes it challenging and fun. I strongly recommend this game for ALL X-men fans and even for those who just like a good fighting game with a good storyline. Two Thumbs Up!!!

This game could have been excellent if not for a long list of flaws. Here are some of the major issues that make it be only a 2 star game:
- Game advertises itself as an Action/RPG. In reality, this is nothing like Baldur's Gate or Diablo, but it is more like a beat'em up arcade (think Mutant Turtle Ninjas in arcades).
- There is ZERO Artificial Intelligence. In Single Player, you control one of the 4 X-Men, while the other 3 are controlled by the AI. Normally, this would work, but not in this game. I had X-Men falling from bridges (very expensive to revive them, unless you replay that segment), X-Men standing on grenades and not moving, X-Men getting a beating with no reaction, and so on. If you think Single Player - then DO NOT get this game.
- There is no way to really 'control' what the other 3 X-Men are doing. While pressing L should bring them to where you are, this hardly ever works. And if they come to where you are, the moment you let L go, they run back to fight.
- There is no way to set-up the use of potions for these 3 other X-Men. You can only choose to have them use potions at 20% or 40% of their health, but 20% is not enough (by the time they use the potion - IF they use it - they are dead) while 40% is too much (they start chugging potions when is not needed). Choosing other options or percentages is of no use too.
- There is no way to go alone to scout, if you already have the group with you (similar to Brute Force or KOTOR). They always follow you and even when you set them up to NOT charge the enemy, they will still do it.
- Like in LOTR: Third Age, your characters level up every 2-3 minutes. This gets annoying really fast, especially since you only get 1 point every time and most skills require more than 1. Still, basically you have to go through 3 menus every 2-3 minutes, to level up.
- This game gives new meaning to term 'linearity'. There is always just one way to go. Even Fable seems non-linear with respect to this. Invisible walls are everywhere, even though you can see the road, you cannot go on it. No real surprise here since this game is a beat'em up and this linearity is typical of these games.
What is good about the game:
- good graphics and distructable environment. Never get tired of breaking walls, etc.
- even if it is presented poorly, the story is good enough.
- length of the game is around 20 hours, 3 times that of most new games.
- X-Men characters (old and new) are excellent. Skills - even if not a lot of them - are a lot of fun.
Overall, unless you are an X-Men fan, I would not recommend this game. I think the potential is definitely here, but execution is amateurish (strange, since Raven has been around for a while). If they work out the AI issues in the next one, I may give it a try.
The best x-men game.
