everybody is saying that the first thug was so much better. that's not true. it has two games in one, the graphics are just as good, it's not short (like i heard someone say). it's just like the first except for a different plot and maybe a little better overall
Though it is not true skateboading, THUG 2 beats THUG by a mile

Ok THUG 2 is a well planned out, well thought out, and just plain fun game. I liked all the hidden characters you could be. I liked some of the crazy moves you could bust out (beaver blasting construction workers was a personal favorite). I liked watching Bam torment fellow skaters with some hillarios jokes. Just admit it, the game is very well done.............if it were a movie game for the movie "Jackass". This game was not at all true skateboarding which threw me off (though not entirely, having played the first THUG already) I expected more skateboarding and less idiotic stunts, and whose to say i was pleased? Very dissapointed, though the custom skater mode was top notch. But I expected more out of Neversoft when they pulled out this game, and i can only hope that Tony Hawk American Wastland wont belong in the dusty old garbage bin that the THUG games landed themselves in.
Fun game with good controls...

I'm reviewing this game primarily from the perspective of someone who hasn't played ANY of the previous TH games. Yup - never played a skateboarding game before (except 720 years ago), plus I haven't played any of the BMX games either.
So I came into TH:UG2 with no expectations and was pleasantly surprised - this game's a lot of fun and quite deep. Several modes captured my attention: firstly I played the story mode through which I completed quickly but enjoyed. I then went onto classic mode which I'm having a blast with. Getting a certain number of goals opens up the next level and whilst tricky they aren't impossible. This kept my interest as I was keen to see what the next level looked like.
The controls intuitive which is amazing given the number of moves your guy can do. I guess the programmers have had several games to get this part right.
Graphically it's fairly cartoon-like. No sense of photorealism but that's not important or expected. I would have liked to see some ragdoll thrown in for spectacular wipe-outs, instead you go down via one of the stock pre-animated crashes. Otherwise the graphics and sound hold up well.
Some of the characters you're forced to use during storymode are bad though - not just graphically but the physics stinks - expecially obvious with Steve-o on the mechanical bull or the dude in the wheelchair.
I can live with these little gripes though. THUG2 is Fun, extensive and entertaining.

Ok, Ok, we get it. Tony hawk is fun and good. The problem is, it's the same game it was 10 years ago. Sure this time there are some destruction elements and some new players and new places, but blah blah blah. Same old, same old. This is a near perfect port of the ps2. It looks great, it plays great, and if you like completing tasks, you keep this game forever. Or, you'll figure out that you wasting insane amounts of time to complete stupid mundane tasks in order to unlock another fascinating new level and many more stupid tasks. We should call it Tony Hawk's puzzle skateboarding, since after the initial coolness of the new world wares off, you spend all of your time solving the puzzle of completing the task.
Bottom Line: Is it fun? As fun as every other Tony game they release yearly. Will I keep it? Not for long. Nothing new here. Buy the game now if you love all Tony Hawk games. Is it for kids? Not to bad if your kids want to just skate around.
its been done before

Alright, This Game was easy as all hell to beat, it took me at least 2 days to beat it, and i didnt even play it for that long on them day's....like 2 hours each....so it took me 4 hours to beat, it was an alright game, there were some fun places to skate at in it, and there were some retarded places, after you beat it there this one place, and its like in space or some bullsh*t like that...retarded, you can create players and make them look cool, and ive made a few and it wasnt bad....
overall, it wasnt the worst game, but it's not like anyone hasnt played Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1,2,3,4 and Tony Hawk Undergound before...
