Outlaw golf for the xbox is a mix of hot shots golf and caddyshack and fighting but it is ok the great thing about outlaw golf is the controls instead of taping one button 3 times you pull back on the analog stick then push forward it is hard at first but if you start sucking you can beat up on your caddy (no trust me I mean it) but it is the horor of the game people who want a good golfing game should check this out as a rentel first.

I just got this game last night and it is the best golf game i have ever played. The graphics are awsome and the game play is a little hard to get use to at first, but just like real golf, it takes practice. You have to use the little joy stick things on the controller, you pull back for your back swing, then move it stright forward for your follow through. What i like most about this game is you can fight your caddy. Everytime you hit either a bad or good shot your composure level goes up or down. If you hit a number of bad shots your composure level will go in the gutter, so to get out of the gutter you can either put together a string of good shots, or do it the fun way by beating your caddy senseless, if you get all five punches in on your caddy you will go from being in the gutter to smokin'. Another good feature is being able to taunt your friends. If you hit the X button while someone else is trying to hit, their controller will start to shake and people from the crowd will yell comments at them, its hilarious.
You start off with 4 people to choose from and three different courses, but as you go farther in the game it appears that you can unlock about 5 or 6 other players and more courses.
To say the least I would recommend this game to anybody that likes to play golf and even if you dont like to play golf i think you would enjoy this game. Happy Hacking!

Words cannot describe how enjoyable this game is but...I'll give it a shot.

Usually I'm a walking, talking advertisement for Blockbuster. A majority of games out there are all hype and lack any sort of long-term playability (new word...don't try to look it up), thus require rental prior to ownership. Vivendi Universal has created a game that needs no trial period. Save your rental money for Hunter the Reckoning and just buy Outlaw Golf.

First of all, throughout my gaming history I've had a tendency to toss instruction booklets (turns out you have to equip the abilities to use them in Final Fantay IX) and skip past any sort of intro scences. With Outlaw Golf my "instruction booklet tossing" streak remains intact but I have yet to skip past anything in the game. I would strongly suggest that you don't either. The tutorials, the intros, the hole flybys are all hilarious. Each character gives you a rundown on the holes and the tutorials are definitely helpful.

The graphics and gameplay are both outstanding. And, much like golf in reality, the game can become extremely frustrating...but not in the sense that the game is going to be punted from a very tall building...more in the sense that you're going to work harder and get better.

A couple of quick tips:

1.If you have a shot that requires you to hit at something like 22%, it is easier to let the meter run all the way up and then time your swing as it's coming back down then to try to get it right at 22% on the way up and then swing.

2. Listen to the flyby commentary...it's hilarious (did I already mention that?)

3. Go to the driving range to improve your skills (it's the last golf ball icon on the tournament select screen). That's problaby mentioned in the instruction booklet so it took me a week or so of playing to figure it out.

4. Beat the hell out of your caddy to start any tournaments. Not only is it pretty funny, it improves your gameplay immediately.

One final note: I've always been a fan of golf games...Hot Shots Golf, Tiger Woods Somethingorother, PGA Tour on the PC. So this game is a "must buy" if you fall into that category. If not, go rent it, see what you think, and then buy it.

This is a horrible game. It has rather amusing characters but that's about it. Controlling the game is terrible especially the putting, which is almost impossible. Being able to fight with your caddy is amusing as well, but this game is not worth owning.

This game is great fun. It is comical yet challenging. The graffics in some areas could be better, but overall it is an awesome game.

the graphics are great. the jokes are great. the characters are great. the gameplay is great. BUT WHAT DOES THAT MATTER IF YOU CANT HIT A STRAIGHT SHOT! unless u move the joy stick perfectly straight up in this game u hook or slice

Fun when it works

I bought this game yesterday and I enjoyed playing until 30 minutes into the game it froze on me. A little box popped up in the middle of the screen that read, "Bad Game Disc. There's a problem with the disc you're using. It may be dirty or damaged." After this happened two more times in the next twenty minutes of play I went back to the store and exchanged the game for a new copy. The problem continued to occur with the new disc. What I was able to play of the game was fun, but being unable to complete a round is extremely frustrating. My opinion is to wait until the problem is fixed to buy the game. For a publisher (Hypnotix) that has only released one Xbox game this is not the way to start.

The graphics on the game are quite nice, and the modeling is really above average. Gameplay is interestingly done. Putting is a pain, and not very intuitive, but overall, I really enjoyed the game. Is it an accurate golf simulation, not really. Is it fun arcade style golfing, absolutely. I was just getting in the groove and moving along nicely

UNTIL

It started freezing on me. Until this time, I've never had a problem with any game playing in my XBOX, but this one has a vicious tendency to crash on the 6th or 7th hole. It has done this to me several times now. I hear from several sources that Hypnotix is blaming the XBox itself, apparently they claim its an issue with first generation machines.

So I guess the moral of the story is, if you bought an xbox early on, don't bother with this game. If you just got one, you might want to give it a try, it can be a very diverting play WHEN IT DOESN'T CRASH!

I may change my review when it finally comes out but...

This is the game I've been waiting for since I got my xbox. Finally a new take on golf, I am so psyched!!! I will change my rating if the game turns out to be anything but awsome, but I don't expect it to.

If you like games like hot shots. you will love this game. Where else can you beat up on your caddie. game play is very good. Enjoyable game. i recommend it to everyone.
