Not a bad game I would give it a 3.5 star rating. The graphics are so so, the sound is decent, and the plot could be another movie. This is like an Indy movie but with alot more bad guys.
I don't really like the whole sharks and alligators bit, since a run in with them would be completely fatal. Nor did I like the whole kraken thing. It is worth the money now, but it does have very little replay value.
Don't waste your hard earned $$

Although I am a huge Indy fan of the movies and of the Infernal Machine game, this game is terrible!!!. The only good thing I have to say about this game is the graphics are great, nice textures, great 3D graphics, and nice intriguing environments from what little I saw. Honestly, I quit this game after the third level because I had to play them over and over so many times. NOTE: THERE IS NO IN GAME SAVING on this thing. Which means if you slip and fall while exiting into a new level you almost have to start the level all over again. This would happen in real life of course but this is a game, After working so hard to get through a level and the end joy would be to start the level over?? that's crazy!!! If you want a good indy game and haven't tried it, get The Infernal Machine.. Also the controls on this game are terrible, very cumbersome.
Amazing!!!

I've never liked games based on movies...until now. This game is worth buying and more, like i did today. When i put this game in my XBOX, my dreams of when i was 10 years old came alive. You use your whip, machette, and guns to help you get through many levels in a game that does more than just shoot people. The game takes place in the 1930's and i don't know if i've seen better graphics in a game. One thing I like about Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Toom is that it seems to follow Newton's 3rd law: Every action has and equal but opposite reaction. Everything you see can have a different way of helping Indy get through the challenge. If your looking for pure fun, get this game, even if your not an Indiana Jones fan, but if you are, then this just may be your favorite game.
!!!You have to get this game!!!

This is an awesome game!! You can do a ton of punch combos including grab, kick, head whack and lots more!! I am not done with the game yet, but so far it has been FUN!! The bosses in the game are not too hard and not to easy; they are just fun. Now you do not have loads of ammo for your weapons but that gives you the opportunity to punch it out. Some times the game gets frustrating but that is only when you do not know what to do, and that is very rare. I have never run into any "bugs" nor has the game ever frozen up.
If you like wondering how to open the door and then get it and traps every now and then and gaps to whip across and guys to beat up (or shoot up) then it is worth the $... dollars you pay for it.
Top 10 game for Xbox!

If you are looking for the next game to buy for your Xbox - this is it! Great game, easy to play - yet challenging and fun! Gotta love a game that let's you punch a Nazi off of a tower to his death...
I'm not quite halfway through - but have enjoyed every minute so far. The ONLY complaint I have is the camera control. Otherwise I would have given it 5 stars.
It does detract from the game a little - but its still a good game. Get it!
Still one of the best xbox games

Even though this game is a little old and I've bought other newer titles, this still remains one of my favorite games for my xbox.
The graphics on this one aren't the best, but are about average compared to others. If you look closely at Indy's face, he looks very cartoon-like as opposed to some higher level of detail found in games like Splinter Cell. The sound quality, like the graphics, aren't impressive, but don't sound generic like other games tend to.
It only takes a few short minutes to really get the hang of the controls and gameplay. Once mastered, you'll love how easy it is to whip out a gun or drink from your canteen to regain health.
Probably the game's low point is the fighting controls used against enemies. After a while, you find yourself beating up all enemies in generally the same way. Seeing as how fighting only has two buttons and pretty much no "special moves" there isn't a lot to do. But to save time, it's quicker to just shoot them.
But on the flip side, the high point of the game is the overall fun you'll have. The game is complicated enough to make it a challenge, but yet not too hard to make it frustrating. It's rare that you'll become completely stuck that you need to consult online help. The game will provide hours of non-stop fun.
Bottom line, dispite the newer games that have come out and all the games in my collection, Indiana Jones is the one I wind up playing time and time again.
Great fun for starters...

I have to agree with the other reviewers about the problems with this game - not being able to save (very irritating if you die at the end of a level and have to start the whole thing again) and the game freezing at inopportune moments - although it was a relief to discover that it was the game and not my Xbox causing the problem...But despite all this, I still really enjoyed the game. The graphics are excellent - the controls easy to master and the music matched the action incredibly well. Indy really does look like and sound Harrison Ford and parts of the game are based on the actual movies which makes it fun as well. The die hard gamers seem to have found the game very frustrating with the issues that crop up, but if you're not too serious then this game can keep you happily occupied for hours - it did me!
Very Impressive Game

When I first played this game, I was immediatly impressed by the beginning cinimatic. Not that this is at all imprtant, I just though it was very nice, and therefore noteworthy. The Indy story is the same as always, having a good time beating up Nazi's and recovering priceless artifacts. Opposed to the Infernal Machine, if any of you have played it, this game is more action based, so there are not as many puzzles (or ones with a lower difficulty) to solve. Even though this is a sort of relief, I was also slightly dissipointed. The puzzles in Infernal Machine were sometime cruel, such as pressing 4 buttons in a certain order, and you had to hit each at least two times, but it was these puzzles that kept me hopelessly addicted, sometimes making me quit in frustration, then cursing myself for being so stupid when I returned. The controls are very easy to master, helped along by the layout of the Xbox controller. (I'm playing on a S.) Icon's appear telling you when to whip, plant explosives, or do anything that requires you to pass an obstacle. (In general.) You can press Y for a quick switch to the item that you need to use. Another new item that makes its introduction is Indy's water canteen. Anytime during the game, provided the canteen has some water in it, Indy can tale a sip, gulg, slug, or chug down the whole container according to how much life he needs to have replenished. (It can be refilled at various places throughout the maps.)There are also little touches that made me appreciate this game such as being able to pick up Indy's hat when it gets knocked off, they way the water sparkles, and how the moss seems draped over jungle ruins. Also, the enemies have approximatly the same amount of heatlh as you, so no more one hit kills. At various point during the game I found myself cursing violently at an ememy that just wouldn't seem to die, as I continously puched him, and attempted to throw him over a ledge. Be prepared for non-descript death animations, as this game is rated Teen. Various large creatures are sprinkled throughout the game. For example, in the first level, you find a HUGE alligator, and feed a Nazi to it. Over all, I think that this game is a must buy. The graphics, puzzles, combat system, and small touches keep me coming back for more as I play through this game, and I look foward to finding out what exotic location's I'll be traveling to next.
On the Playstation2 version...

I just beat the game on the "Normal" difficulty level and I must say that I was overall 'content' with the game. Not an overly spectacular game, but if you are at all a big fan of Dr. Jones, this game is a must-have. First and foremost, the most disappointing aspect of the game I thought was the graphics, which on the same scale would receive 3 stars; for a 2003 PS2 video game, it's average at best. HOWEVER, what lacks in graphics is made up for in the fantastic gameplay. There is a diverse array of enemies (Nazis, Turkish and Chinese thugs, demons, etc.) and weapons, and the fighting sequences along with the background music really make for a true Indy experience, just like in the movies, which in all honesty is what really kept me playing this game. In addition to the intuitive controls, typical storyline, and decent voice acting (minus a few repetitive one-liners), I thought that the hand-to-hand combat moves and body physics were actually pretty good. But what I think is key to this game is the variety in gameplay. You will not only fight your enemies with your hands and/or weapons, but there is also some puzzle solving, and maneuvering Indy through many booby traps as well as underwater. As you would expect there is also a lot of climbing, jumping, and swinging using his trusty whip. Finally, in a nutshell, this game has a bit of everything, everything that you would expect a game based on Indiana Jones to have. If you are a fan of the movie trilogy, you will find this game very entertaining and fun to play!
Value? A great rental or buy (for the big Indy fan) if you can get it used or new for less than $20. Replayability? I thought that the "Normal" setting could have been a little tougher, maybe by the addition of more intense swarms of enemies. However, I like this game well enough to simply go at it again on the "Difficult" setting...

I must fess up, I haven't played this game in it's completed form. I have spent several hours playing a polished demo of the first stage-and let me tell you...this game is so cool. The graphics are wonderful, the controls are tight (though using the whip is a bit difficult, especially when you try to swing from platform to platform), the camera is perfect (very similar to Splinter Cell's). The game may draw heavy comparisons to Tomb Raider, and maybe that's fair-but let me say this: Indian Jones always had the better movie, and now he has the better game.
Lucas Arts can be very hit or miss when it comes to their games-but trust me this one will be a winner. I'm buying this thing the SECOND it comes out!
