Halo 2 - GOOD; Halo 2 MMP - VERY RHETORICAL

Well, it's been about a year and a half since our beloved game came out, and it's been about half a year since this "expansion" came out. I believe this is a total ripoff unless you do not have Xbox Live. ALL of these maps are currently FREE on Xbox Live. No fees. Yes, all nine maps. Free.

This is also a rip with our new friend: "The Halo Triple Pack" which includes this disc. The pack is $50, but you can buy Halo 2 for $20, Halo: CE for $10 at the most, and these maps are free on Live.

I just don't get why this is still as much as it is. You'd think that one would use these maps more on Xbox Live, but they're free there, so why buy this at all? To give Bungie and Microsoft spare change.

Bottom line:
These maps are available free. Why buy them for $20?

boooo. don't buy this.

Microsoft should have released this as a FREE download on their website the way they do for other games. They essentially are milking you out of even more cash. Booooo. Hissss. Find a friend that has this and have he or she install it on your xbox (your xbox will remember the new maps - you don't need to keep the disc).

Not good, not good at all

The new maps are just plain horrible, save for Sanctuary and Warlock. They are nice looking but the funness stops there.

The way these maps are set up are horrible. Elongation is the worst of the bunch. The treamill style floors, the horrible boxes, and the dual sides are just plain annoying. No cover and way too much going on.

Relic is a horrible map for everything, especially sniper matches. Same thing with Gemini and Backwash. Terminal is tolerable at times as long as it's a slayer or sniper match.

The only other decent map is Turf. It's actually somewhat fun to play CTF or Bomb Assualt but anything else is just annoying.

The new maps I think are just not fun. The way they are set up just scream "leave game". It's funny, because when Elongation comes up everyone groans and complains about what a horrible level it is. Thank god the new levels are now free, they should pull this from the shelves, cause who's actually going to pay for it?

Waste of Money

You are nuts if you spend $20 for nine measly MP maps. Console gamers are getting ripped off if they put up with this. On the PC this map pack would have been a free download, along with countless other fan-made mods. That's all I got to say on this matter.

It is worth $20!

When i first heard that Bungie was making an expansion pack for Halo 2, i was in awe because not only would it be the first expansion pack for an xbox game, secondly its Halo 2 and thats awesome. Ok as far as gameplay bungie again delivers a masterpiece, it enhances a great multiplayer game. It adds more options in multiplayer as well as more game variants in each of the new 9 stages of play. You get to experice the thrill of trashtalking your opponent in a whole new way online. The things that made Halo 2 a great game to play are that the first player shooter is amazing and secondly that the multiplayer is what brought people together to play a game many people call Halo 2. The new stages are to much to explain in full detail and besides someone already did it in these reviews. Take my word of advice or dont take it, this game is worth $20 because it adds on to a great game experience.

Enhance. Expand. Engage

The world's greatest multiplayer game just got better. Take the fight from the streets of the Old Mombasa to the islands of delta halo to the very edges of the galaxy. The nine new maps included in this pack nearly double Halo 2's multiplayer arena. Some battlefields feature tight quartered, intense spaces designed for small scale mayhem. Others are large scale, interactive arenas with explosive vehicle combat - perfect for split screen, system link or xbox live.
Nine bran new maps feature a huge variety of locations, from swamp to space station and beyond. Huge landscapes for epic vehicle battles, and dynamic environments for strategic confrontations. New gameplay enhancements intensify weapon, grenade, and melee combat.
BONUS FEATURES: Behind the scenes: Halo 2 Multiplayer pack documentary. "Another day at the beach" - Animated halo 2 short side story. Complete game updates, including support for HDTV, improved Xbox live gameplay and cool gameplay enhancements.

This is a very good map pack and should pick it up if you dont have live, if you have life just downoald them for free. It is rated M for mature for blood and gor and violence. For my opinion this should be rated T for teen, not enough blood and gore to be named mature. So remember if you want to Enhance, Expand, and Engage your Halo then pick this up.

Buy it only IF you dont have xbox live

I bought this disc barely a week after it came out, and if I was impressed then, I am really impressed now. Why? This little wonder retains its value. I initally only liked Turf and Warlock, as my wife and I did not have XBox Live at the time, and most of these maps are designed for HUGE battles, especially Relic and Containment. I still groan when some maps come up (Gemini and Backwash, for example), but this is a matter of personal preference.

Overall, these map great enhance and expand the already-perfect Halo 2 Online experience. Get it.

New Maps are a success!

The new maps are great. They provide a good mix of sizes and strategy changes. There are some bigger maps (relic, terminal, containment) which provide good big team objective battles, medium mpas (backwash, turf, sanctuary, gemini), and smaller intense maps (warlock, elongation). My personal favorite is Backwash because it reminds me of the 343 guilty spark level from the 1st Halo, but all the maps have good redeeming qualities. Elongation is awesome for an all out rocket match.
Overall, these maps are worth the buy. BUT, if you are a live subscriber BUY THEM ONLINE, NOT IN STORES! You can download turf, santuary, warlock, and containment for free, and get the other 5 maps for $11.99. You end up saving about 8 bucks.

Duh! Rent this game.

This expansion pack contains an upgrade to tweak grenade and melee attacks. If you have x-box live, you've already downloaded this upgrade.

The disc also contains seven new maps for multiplayer. Four of them are already avalible for free on x-box live. The remaining three will be free in late August. For all you folks that don't have x-box live, but you do play multiplayer with your friends - this expansion pack is well worth while.

The disc also contains a developer interview from the people that made the new maps. It also has an animated video which tells a parallel storyline from Halo 2. It's short, but very well done.

Finally, this disc contains a sound-test for your surround sound system. It's a bit unnecessary, but it's funny as the sounds are tested by a little grunt alien.

If you already have x-box live - you'll be able to get all this stuff (excluding the videos and sound test) in late august for free. If you can't wait, or if you don't have x-box live, I strongly recommend renting this game. You can save all the date on your harddrive, and return the disc - you won't need it after you save the updates and new maps to your harddrive.
