New Maps are a success!

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 5 / 8

The new maps are great. They provide a good mix of sizes and strategy changes. There are some bigger maps (relic, terminal, containment) which provide good big team objective battles, medium mpas (backwash, turf, sanctuary, gemini), and smaller intense maps (warlock, elongation). My personal favorite is Backwash because it reminds me of the 343 guilty spark level from the 1st Halo, but all the maps have good redeeming qualities. Elongation is awesome for an all out rocket match.
Overall, these maps are worth the buy. BUT, if you are a live subscriber BUY THEM ONLINE, NOT IN STORES! You can download turf, santuary, warlock, and containment for free, and get the other 5 maps for $11.99. You end up saving about 8 bucks.

Duh! Rent this game.

This expansion pack contains an upgrade to tweak grenade and melee attacks. If you have x-box live, you've already downloaded this upgrade.

The disc also contains seven new maps for multiplayer. Four of them are already avalible for free on x-box live. The remaining three will be free in late August. For all you folks that don't have x-box live, but you do play multiplayer with your friends - this expansion pack is well worth while.

The disc also contains a developer interview from the people that made the new maps. It also has an animated video which tells a parallel storyline from Halo 2. It's short, but very well done.

Finally, this disc contains a sound-test for your surround sound system. It's a bit unnecessary, but it's funny as the sounds are tested by a little grunt alien.

If you already have x-box live - you'll be able to get all this stuff (excluding the videos and sound test) in late august for free. If you can't wait, or if you don't have x-box live, I strongly recommend renting this game. You can save all the date on your harddrive, and return the disc - you won't need it after you save the updates and new maps to your harddrive.

More Brilliance from the Halo Gods

There's no real point to this review, because any Halo devotee has already rushed out and bought this. But as expected, these new Halo 2 maps are well worth the $20 or so they cost. In fact, Terminal alone might be worth the money, especially for the train hurtling through the middle of it plastering anyone who dares to go for the energy sword. All the other maps are fun in their own unique ways. Now the countdown to Halo 3 can begin...

Halo 2 just got better.

This is so cool. If you have halo 2 and if you play with your friends you must get this! Its only 20 bucks at toysrus its 19.99 every where. All you do is down load it and it just adds graet maps to your Halo 2 game. The maps are so cool and better and so much fun. If you have halo 2 and dont have this get it. It even has a bunch of halo 2 extras on the disk to. Get this!

boooo. don't buy this.

Microsoft should have released this as a FREE download on their website the way they do for other games. They essentially are milking you out of even more cash. Booooo. Hissss. Find a friend that has this and have he or she install it on your xbox (your xbox will remember the new maps - you don't need to keep the disc).

An amazing Halo 2 pack for a low price

It is pretty much a good thing they came out with this pack. Really i've been getting tired of the old maps myself. This extensive pack brings nine new maps, each one XBox Live playable. Not only that, but they give you a day at the beach which is an amazing Halo 2 side story, a map documentary of all the maps, the first anoccment trailer as seen on the original Halo, and the first E3 Halo 2000 year trailer. Can you beleive they were going to make the Master Cheif sound like a robot. The maps are amazing as well. Each one with something great in it. For one there is one called BackWash. This map is a remake of Halo's 343 Guilty Spark and has lighting bugs flying about and the Moniter hovering above. This pack also includes update HDTV support and more upgrades to your gameplay. It really is a good deal for $20.00. You and your friends only need one copy because you can share it with your friends. But in able to use it you must have at least played Halo 2 once on your hard disk. You also don't need XBox Live to play these. As I said before this is an amazing deal for nine maps and loads of bonus features.

It's a shame

These maps were worth the money, but they're free now. You'll have to have these maps in order to play Halo 2 on Live in september. Bungie is offering them all as a free download when you check for updates when on live. Most of the new maps are great, where as some of them just don't get played at all.

More maps I say - more!

Good maps! I especially enjoyed the smaller maps, since most of my multiplayer is done with 2-3 of my friends playing on one or two Xboxes. The other content is ok, it was interesting to listen to the designers and what they tried to do with each map and what their intentions where. The audio test was a little lame, I think they could have done a lot more with that to make it more interesting, but that's a very minor complaint. If you do any multiplayer on Halo2 - buy this or download it from online.

Great

These new maps are great. As good or better than the originals. But Warlock SUCKS, and the chance that i may get it in matchmaking online almost makes me not want to play....almost

a great addition to a great game

this map pack makes halo 2 a better game. the update helps balance the game.( it made grenades and melee attacks stronger and made dual wielding not as effective and made the BR have perfect accuracy.)the new maps are awesome too.
my grades for maps:

Warlock- B+

Containment- A+

Sanctuary- B

Turf- A

Backwash- A- (no starting grenades!)

Relic- A

Gemini- A-

Terminal- A+++++

Elongation- A

oh and JDH, bungie wont put hang 'em high because they said that they tried it, and it was a lot worse with the new halo 2 weapons.
