Great game, but only as good as 2k5.

Sega is starting to get attention for their bball games, and deservingly so, but even though i think this game is very good, it is not great and is no better than its predecessor. Sure, buy this one instead of 2k5 because of the updated rosters, but i was really disappointed to find that their were no improvements in this game. The game modes are very fun, you get to recruit, scout, whatever the staff of your team needs to get done, but that is the same as 2k5.

It is still the best college bball game, better than "Madness", but i hope it acutally improves going into next year.

This game is average at best. I've played a few season and just am kind kinda sick of playin'. The recruting in season is an awesome options but I think it just gets old. You have to scout and email, visit, call the recruits every week. At first, I thought this was great, but it sucks after a while. When you forget to talk to the targeted player one week, some other team might shoot in front of ya in the players interested list. Then, its tough to win him back. You look at doin' this when there are players in high school. Thats 4 yrs of recruiting..Ick! Otherwise, gameplay is decent. Seems like gameplay is full of errors at time...But, thats just me :)

Not as good as NBA 2K6

Good game, but the game has a few flaws. First of all you can't drive into the lane in this game which made NBA 2k6 better already,2nd of all the good shooters for some reason don't seem to make 3's, but other than that this game is very good.

Going to the big dance!

College Hoops 2K6 was a brilliant improvement over its 2k5 counterpart. While, I have thoroughly enjoyed both products I found that 2k6 was very playable outside the box. With 2k5, I had to tweak the settings as the AI never seemed to miss, my team couldn't buy a rebound and at best we made 20% of the shots. Eventually by adjusting the slider bars, I was able to get the game to a point were each and every game was very competitive. With 2k6, I didn't have to touch the sliders at all!

As a casual gamer, I tend to play shorter games. I like to get through several seasons and to spend hours recruiting as well as playing out the NCAA tournament. So to do this, I'll usually play 2 minute halves and the 2K6 version of this game has made this so much more enjoyable. First off, the 2K5 version didn't allow you to change the # of fouls for the bonus and the computer would constantly foul until 2-3 players had fouled out and eventually the 7th team foul had happened. (I play with 3 fouls your out given my short games) Now there is an option for this as well. There is a bug where you have to actually change your settings the first time you boot up the game, but after that it remembers. That aside this is a blessing for the short game.

Another good improvement is in recruiting, the AI seems to be a lot better and tougher to recruit. In 2k5, once you had reached a power team you pretty much hand picked your recruits each season. While this might be fun for some, it's not really what dynasty mode is about and I've enjoyed the fact that it takes a bit more work to get those 5 star Mr. Basketball players on my roster.

The biggest flaw is with the sim engine however as I've seen some wacky results even at full game minutes, but it's not an issue if you play every game.

All in all, I've really enjoyed this series and have to say it's a lot more fun for me than the EA version. If you're a fan of college hoops this is the game for you!
