Why did I wait so long to get this game?

...and why is this game, despite getting AWESOME reviews on tons of game sites and by gamers around the world, continue to be one of the best priced Xbox games available?? Even if you have negative feelings about inline skating, drop them and give it a chance. I love this game!

If you know the Tony Hawk series and are a fan, I can take care of you folks pretty easily: stop reading this review and GET THIS GAME. So many of the controls are the same, you will easily be able to jump in to this game and have a blast. At the same time, this game isn't so similar that it would be a waste of your money. Tony Hawk 4 (TH4), currently getting some of the best reviews of all Xbox games, actually changed their career modes to model after Aggressive Inline (AI)!! Plus, there are a bunch of other moves that you can't do in Tony Hawk (more on that below).

If you aren't familiar with the Tony Hawk series, you are in for a treat as well. I bought Tony Hawk 3 (TH3) before I got AI, so my expectations were already high for AI. If I were to buy AI as my first skating game, I would seriously be blown away. The levels are absolutely huge, 4-5x as big as TH3. Exploring is a huge part of this game. As I mentioned above, there are just a huge number of tricks you can do but some other pretty neat stuff as well. You can skate backwards, skitch (grab the back of vehicles for a ride), swing around horizontal and vertical poles, do flips over walls, and skate off walls. All of these tricks can be done in combos, raising the amount of points you get. Take care of each goal on the level and you unlock new levels. Oh yah, remember how you could go off the side of a pipe in TH3 and do nothing but land on your neck? Yah, AI has a bail button. TH4 is now incorporating that too.

I would get this game even if I had to pay the full standard Xbox price for games. Graphics are among the best I've seen, the controls are refined and natural, and the game itself offers plenty of hours of entertainment.

Great fun! So I went out and bought real inline skates !

I was first hooked on this game when I played the demo off the oxbm disc - and I ran out and paid full price for it. The game lets you play as a number of different 'stars' of the industry. Each one then improves in skill through the experience gained in each trick: spend a lot of time 'wall riding' and voila - it's easier to wall ride. And so on for fakies, handplants, grinds, etc.....

The controls are tight and permit what appears to be a bewildering array of trick possibilities - but the more you play the easier it gets and then somehow you think you could that stuff if you had a pair of skates.

Graphics are very good - and only rarely will there be a framerate issue.

The levels are huge (can you say eye candy?) with lots room to get up speed and try all sorts of insane (and unrealistic) tricks. Completing the well thought out levels will take discipline - and is deeply satisfying.

Best Extreme sports game out there.

I think that inline is so lame. If you want to see a REAL skating game get Tony Hawk 3.

Impressive

Believe it or not, this was my introduction to an inline video game (I'm a 1st person shooter fan). This is a great game!! The tutorial got me up to speed quickly, and it was all fun and games from there. Great graphics, awesome sound, tons of gameplay. Give it a try!

Please rent this before buying

GRAPHICS

Aggressive Inline has alright graphics, and for sure better ones then the PS2 version. But it still lacks things. It trys to copy the famous Tony Hawk Pro Skater series but does a poor job. It includs things like skitching and people to talk to like THPS, but also new ones like vaulting, and things like the juice meter. Overall the graphics are ok, but could be better.
7/10

SOUND

This is probally the worst part, the sound. The soundtrack was horrible and I could barely stand it. Thank god for the feature to use your own soundtrack. I think it also lacked alot of sound effects. Theres about 5 of them I know that they use for other things in the game. They get pretty annoying.
5/10

CONTROL

One of the most important things with a game. All I have to say was that no matter which of the 3 controls you pick I still didnt feel in control of the game.
5/10

FUN FACTOR

This game is like THPS with some new stuff, with inline skates and it just wasnt fun. I got bored with it the first day I rented it. If they would of spent a little more time on it then it could of been better. (which is funny becuase acclaim does good games usually)
8/10

I give this game a 6/10

LESSON: BEFORE YOU BUY THIS GAME PLEASE RENT IT FIRST
