Medievil fun on the go!

Great Humor, Great Graphics, Great Gameplay, and Great controls all add up to make this latest PSP title one of the best games i've bought for a system that looks like its finally getting its legs.

Back in March I purchased a brand new PSP in america and since then i've had many problems, and many fantastic and awesome memories. Originally the psp was a simple machine, playing mp3's, mpeg4's and save games from its crappy 32mb memory stick. it had stale backgrounds that changed every month and other than that, not much going on for it. I finally broke down and got a gig stick. then it was much more fun! i could put full length movies or hours of music on it. but something was always missing, a great and addictive game.
The only one i had found that i found myself playing the most was Untold Legends, which is an almost flawless game, however, it was quite stale in its art direction. i had picked up other games as they came out, Archer Mcleans' Mercury, which is a fun puzzle-ish game but wears on you enough that you can only play it in short intervals. Coded Arms, a solid FPS by Konami that was graphically awesome, with some well thought out controls, but suffered from the same stale art direction that Untold Legends had. Finally i will mention the game i originally bought the system for, Metal Gear Acid, which although wasn't a dissapointment, it left me still lacking for a true all-encompasing game, something that wasn't limited with its cut-scenes, something that would pull me in and force me to stay there and never want to take a break.

I'll say i'm glad i stuck out the wait on the PSP, after the international and then subsequent North American release of PSP firmware 2.0, complete with web-browser, wallpaper, Bmp's in addition to JPG's and the most important feature, the AVC codec for video files (the same compression used on the UMD movies that you buy for the psp).

Now they finally released a really good game.

Medievil Resurrection is a sort-of rerelease (this is second hand news to me, i missed the original run of Medievil on the PSone) with new mini-games that are funny and addictive, a graphics overhaul (it is essentially no different than playing a ps2 game) fully restored cutscenes and i've heard that some levels are expanded more than in its original release. From its colorful and sweet cinematic openings, to its hillarious one-liners (the unforgetable narrator's musing over the opening level "Dan's Crypt") and many other treats, this is the first time i've had the feeling that i have a game that the PSP is made FOR, instead of "a game for the psp"

if you have the original and also own a PSP, i would say go ahead and buy this again! seriously. why not! its not every day you get a really good reissue,(like Metal Gear Solid: the Twin Snakes-for gamecube another excellent reissue) so go reimurse yourself into Sir Daniel Fortesque's armor and swing his arm at Zarok a few more times on the go!

Awesome

I bought this becuase it was the only game they had (I'm in the desert right now). I was very surprised. The gameplay is real easy to pick up, and the puzzles are hard enough to keep you in the game but not so hard to make you quit. I was really addicted to this one.

Great First Game

With it's dazzling graphics, entertaining gameplay, and playful tone, MediEvil Resurrection easily poises itself as a great first game to pick up for your PSP. From the moment the menu launched, I fell in love with this game. The graphics are superbly done, and the characters and environments are great. The game doesn't take itself too seriously, and there is great, playful banter between the characters.

The problems do emerge in the form of poor target tracking with ranged weapons, as well as odd camera angles (at very inoportune times). Even with these setbacks, the game is not that difficult, and can be enjoyed with a minimal amount of frustration.

The Teen rating is accurate, as the game does have some very minor language, as well as the violent nature. It is not, however, a graphic bloodfest like some of the games out there. Rather, it's level of action is presented in a comedic manner. Most parents can probably feel quite comfortable letting their teen play this game.

In short, I felt like this was an outstanding game. While the camera does pose its problems at times, it in no way warrants some of the lower review ratings that can be found on the internet. I would recommend this game to kids of most ages as one to pick up and enjoy.

Worth Buying

Video games are always a tough call if you've never rented or had a friend let you play theirs before buying. It can be very subjective and someone that gives it 5 stars may be a 2 star game to you. With Medievil I'll list some good and bad and hopefully you will see something that will help you decide.

The Good:

The game is very witty. Many of the cut scenes and comments are laugh out loud funny. The story line is entertaining and gets you involved right from the start.

The graphics are excellent. No choppy movements, and the action is smooth with no long load times. Rich colors, interesting scenery and it's easy to get a handle on the controls. As for the sound effects, the voices are great, the music is well done and the battle effects are solid and not overdone.

The not so good:

Not much replay value. One you beat it, there is not much reason to go back in and do it again. The mini games are fun, and if you play it after you complete it, will most likely be those, not the main game. Sometimes the camera angles are akward, and you can't control looking up/down and left/right like other games.

Overall, I give 4 stars due to the games that are clearly a notch above, such as Siphon Filter and Grand Theft Auto Liberty City. I had a good time playing it, took my time and made it worthwhile.

Really good, Really funny, Really fun.

I've played medievil on Playstation, But Medievil Resurrection is the perfect game for the psp, I do not remember any humor of medievil one, but in this medievil, The humor is off the scale! I love the genie in Dan's head! They also changed the statue guys, in the first one, they were supposed to be scary...but in this one...It's kinda cool looking and cute.

Anyways, with the better graphics, cool puzzles, and ripping the sombies arms and legs off...This game is the most extreme!!

Its back

MediEvil is back into a portable gaming system. This game is very good,it has the same places of MediEvil 1,but some changes. There are new enemies, new characters, new story-line.If you played MD 1,you'll think its the same story and stuff. But when you keep playing, you'll figure out that its different. Its a pretty good game, with good story. There's a little problem,it is that when the characters talk, there are no subtitles so if you didnt hear well then tough luck. But everything is well made, the action is awesome, and the graphics are much better than MD 1 and 2,if you like spooky medieval games then buy this I assure you you'll like it and wont regret buying it.The one thing I think thats a little boring its that the big enemie, the big boss is always Zarrock.

Great Game

This game is a fun game. I have 3 games for the PSP and i liked this one the Best. You can only get most of the weapons from the hall of fame and when you get the chalice and kill the enemies up to 100%. It is a fun game and is funny. But the game is a little too easy. Maybe it is because I have the best weapon. It can keep you playing for up to 5 hours with the mini games to get Woden's Brand. Overall it is fun and i would really recommend it.

Frickin SWEET!!!

MediEvil Ressurection is a fun, addictive game. Read description above to get story, you don't need to hear it again from me. The genie that lives in Dan's head is hilarious. The plot is simple. The game play is not too hard to figure out. But the corky commentary and awesome graphics keep you coming back for more. It was a little hard for me to try to move Dan to kill the monsters. It's not too bad though.
I would like to make one last comment on the plot. Although I said before that it's not too complicated don't be scared away from this game! It's great!

Great Humorous Fun

Medieval Resurrection for the PSP lets you play the hero Dan, now resurrected 100 years later to take on a hoard of zombies. It's cartoony rather than scary, and has a nice witty theme.

There's a great deal of humor in this story. It's not the usual bloody-zombies-with-chainsaw type of mature title. Instead, you're a rather cute zombie, out to save the universe from an evil wizard who has been working on his diabolical laughter. The game pokes fun at all of the standard take-on-the-baddies type of storyline.

The graphics are quite nice, with a three-D world of skeletons, ogres, rolling balls, rippling rivers and other dungeony areas to wander around. You don't have to worry about complex key combinations here. You bash the skeleton with a sword. Maybe you bash the skeleton with a club. Sometimes you charge full speed into the skeleton.

I found the three-Dness a bit much sometimes when you were trying to keep track of three enemies who had surrounded you, turning to take down the one that was half dead. The game does try to auto target for you and provide little glowing dots to help you keep on track. It probably depends on your gaming style if you enjoy the fast-swirl of the world, or whether you prefer something a little more stationary a la most Mario world platformers.

The sound was good - usually you don't have much demand for high quality, poignant sound in a platformer but on the other hand it wasn't an awful soundtrack that I hated.

Well recommended!
