This is byfar the best TMNT game ever. The graphics are cel-shaded (like Zelda: Wind Waker) and they are awesome. There are various levels where you go through using one of four turtles - Raphael, Leonardo, Donatello, and Michelangelo; each using their own unique and special set of moves/weapons to defeat various enemies. It's basically a hack/slash game. Raph uses Sais, Leo uses a Kai, Donatello a bo staff, and Michaelangelo nunchakus. At the end of each level is a boss which you have to defeat. Fun playing by yourself but even better with a friend.

This is technicaly the fourth in the Teenage Mutanat Ninja Turtles series in games from Nintedo, the first two coming out for the NES, that's Nintedo Entertainment System, and the third coming out for the SNES, that's the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, so its been awhile but it was worth the wait. Everyone who gets this game especially for the Gamecube will enjoy it. Have fun!!!

actually this is the fifth game, there were 3 TMNT games on NES and the list goes like this:
1) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
2) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: The arcade game
3) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3: The Manhattan Project
the fourth was on SNES:
4) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time
And all of these games are awesome and there is no doubt that the cell shading made this game better. The games takes place in the same world the new TV show and old comics do, a dark NY City with a lot more action and a flowing plot. Although that fact that you can still only have 2 people playing at once istn't thrilling, the game is still awesome and worth the $40.
THE GAME IS FANTASTIC

I have played every TMNT game since I was a wee lad and now again we have another awsome incarnation of the heros in the half shell. The story mode that directly plays to the new TV series is great along with the awsome cell shading effect.
All in all Konomi and Nintendo have made yet another hit and I highly recomend anyone buy this totally rad game.
Classic beat-'em-up

If you loved the old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade game and "Turtles in Time," then you will definitely like this version. Everyone below have basically said what needs to be said. The only thing I want to add is this:
The tournament part of the game is PURE crap. It will not matter what level you set the game to in this mode, as they are all EXACTLY the same: Super Cheese Mode. Furthermore, the "POW" text gets in the way, while you're fighting and the camera angles are terrible. For some strange and unusual reason, the developers of the game got the "ingenious" idea that a overhead camera shot of a dual is a great way to fight. It's like trying to fight with insects.
Also, the game is only 2 players. How ridiculous is that?

Well, I have to admit this was an impulse purchase. I was a big fan of TMNT as a kid, and now as an adult with the means, I just had to try this game out. I was impressed by the graphics, looks just like an after school cartoon. I was disapointed by the fact that it is only two-player. The developers must not have realized that all new game systems have four player ability. And I have to agree, the tournament mode Sucks! Good luck trying to get a lick in against the computer. I've only been able to win once. But the story mode more than makes up for it. If you're a Turtle fan, you won't be dissapointed. If you're still aprehensive, you can always rent it first!
Great game! Excellent for any TMNT fan!

This is a pretty challenging game in "Story Mode". Basically you pick a primary character (Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael or Michaelangelo) and you are assisted by the 2nd player who plays one of the other turtles. You are faced by a range of opponents, from street punks and mechanical robots to "boss" characters that need multiple, multiple strikes to beat.
This game encourages good team play because together you can defeat most enemies and not lose much health in the process. Individually, some of the enemies are near impossible to beat.
I only have one complaint (and this is on the Gamecube version).. certain scenes where many mechanical robot "dogs" come out are slow due to the processor getting overburdened with refreshing both the players' and robots actions. You can actually feel game play slow down. As you eliminate the robots, game play picks up speed.
Aside from that, game graphics and sound are pretty good.
I actually discovered an "Easter Egg" when we played the game on Halloween. The programmers wrote a function which changed the Turtles' heads to.... Pumpkins!! I wonder what surprise will happen as we roll into other holidays like Easter! Bunny heads maybe??

I wish that instead of insulting us 80's children they could do some justice for such a great series. This game was Final Fight, minus all cool combos and awesome boss fights. Audio clips were minimal and repetative. Cutscenes were poorly animated, if at all. Boo
Good, but not as good as the classic TMNT games

I was extatic when i found out that a new TMNT game was coming out on gamecube. I couldnt wait to get it. Of course, it was almost inevitable that it wouldnt be as good as the originals were on nintendo and nintendo 64. This was true, but saying that, this is still a fun game. Its the classic beat em up style game...except its very easy. Especially when playing with a friend, it almost gets a little boring because it really isnt possible to lose.I am a competitive gamer, so this was a major downfall for me. It does have great graphics and fairly good gameplay though. In conclusion, i would suggest, even for the die hard fans of previous TMNT games, rent this game first...because its likely you will conquer it in the 3 days of rental. And after the 3 days, if you still love it, pick up a copy.
