this is my favorit game because it has sonic CD and graphics like an arcade game.Sonic R and sonic fighters don't have as good graphics as the new sonic the hedgehog games.sonic the fighters is my favorite game.Sonic the fighters is based on astory where tails builds a ship that can only fit one person so every one has a competition to see who gets to be the hero. the heros fight each other they punch and kick all the time its real funny when you hit some ones head and it goes flat. the caricters are sonic,tails,knuckels,amy,fang,bean,espio and bark. Sonic Gems Collection is a blast from the past with games that were almost forgotten but now they were brought back to give people more Sonic fun. The games on the disk are the following: Sonic the Fighters, Sonic CD, Sonic R, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic Spinball, Sonic the Hedgehog Triple Trouble, Sonic Drift 2, Tails' Skypatrol, and Tails Adventures. At the menu the player can chose the following: Games, where the player can play games collected by the player; Manuals, where the player can check to see the controls; Museum, where the player can see and hear music, artwork, movies, and more; Extras, where the player can get hints on the games.

The controls for each game are the following:

This collection of games is really fun and I would recommend this to any Sonic fan, but the Mega Collection is the first one to get to enjoy the old Sega games.

The title should state there are only a few gems in this game!

This game can be for diehard fans of Sonic, but the rest of us cannot even afford the price even though it is a budget title.
The game has about 2 good games out of about 11 games. They are Sonic CD and Sonic R.
They did not fix the annoying "log in and log out" thing that you have to do in order to unlock games. The good thing is that there are only two games to unlock. Sadly, I like neither.
They put horrible special features in this game. It will contain a few gems such as a video or a remix of a few songs. About 90% of the special features are PICTURES! Oh great, first I have to log into a game then log out 500 times and get a awful picture? It is worthless! They could have put in more videos and songs instead of horrible looking picture that lacks effort. Another thing about the special features is that you should not be able to unlock them all. They often require you to log in and out of a game dozens upon dozens of times (Which is worse if you hate it). Some ask that you have a game saved on your memory card to unlock material. I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER GAME TO UNLOCK A PICTURE!
One thing they did good was fix those annoying load times that haunted "Sonic Mega Collection".
Here is a short view of the games.

Sonic Fighters- Bad combos, AI, Collision dection, idea...... This is honestly the worst game I have played in my gaming career. A zero out of 5.

Sonic CD- Contains the best soundtrack I have ever heard for a Sonic game. Offers more strategy and thinking over mindless speed. Great bosses and a system that changes the level layout as you time travel! The best game on the disk! A perfect 5 out of 5.

Sonic R- It is a good idea the underperforms. The soundtrack is awful, but know that you can turn off the vocals before you cry. The graphics are acceptable based on the age of the game. It is pretty fun picking your favorite character to race. You can collect coins (5 in each level) and get more characters. Or collect the emeralds to unlock Super Sonic. The cons are minor. This game only have 5 tracks, is way too easy, and can be completed with 100% completion in under an hour.
This short time is fun though. A 4 out of 5.

Sega Gamegear titles- They are so bad, I give them all either a 1 or 2 out of 5. Most of them have choppy speeds (Could have been fixed in translation), poor graphics, confusing objectives and awful controls. Plus, not all the Gamegear titles are here. Why would Sega do that?
Also, this batch of games are the reason "Sonic Gems" gets a poor score.

Vectorman 1 and 2- It is a mindless shooter. The graphics are ok and I could not hear the music (Hearing impaired!). It seems to be nothing more than an attempt to get "cool" kids to play video games. A 3 out of 5.

If you are still interested, rent before you buy. I don't recommend this title.

I bought this game because i had the original Sonic Mega Collection, I loved Sonic CD and It was on SALE!!! for $17.88.

Ok anyways heres what i thought of the games (Out of 5 stars each):

Sonic the Fighters: **** - Pretty good game, i play it once in a while when im bored. Everyone should try this game.

Sonic CD: ***** - Probably my favorite game on the game. The music, gameplay and graphics are snazzy. Definately the best game on here.

Sonic R: ***** - Another good game. I play this whenever im done with Sonic CD for the day. It's fun to play each level again except its pretty short. Definately worth playing. Especially the music.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (GG): **** - One of my favorite games for Game Gear when i used to have the thing. Probably the best GG game on here. Its worth trying to beat.

Sonic Spinball (GG): ** - Boring and slow compared to the Sega Genesis version. Pass this one.

Tail's Skypatrol (GG): * - WORST GAME ON HERE. Dont play it.

Sonic Triple Trouble (GG): *** - Seems pretty cool but i couldnt get into it. Worth trying.

Tail's Adventure (GG): *** - Not bad, but very slow, i played this for a bit and decided to stop playing cause i wanted some fast action sonic. With trying.

Conclusion: I bought this game and i thought it was worth $17.88, Heck its worth the $30. With the Good games which are half the collection and the LOTS of unlockable. Definately a pick up. HAVE FUN WITH IT!! i am.

PS: If you get this, i recommend you get a memory card cause it takes alot of blocks to save your file.

This is a great collection. You start with 9 games and then you can unlock more. The 2 other games are Vectorman and Vectormen 2. You can also unlock the demo of Gensis games. The demos are Sonic 1,2,3Knckles and much more! Here's the reviews

I've beaten the whole game,it's a good game to warm up your fingers. A classic Sonic fighting game.

Sonic CD4.5/5
Pretty good. It's very hard though. The time warp thing bearly works(it's hard to get a time warp). Why could'nt they make this game a little more realistic,for example: Sonic went into the past so it's easier to get to the goal or he went to the feture it's harder to get to the goal. Overall it's fun

Sonic R 100/5
The best racing game ever! Even though it's super easy to unlock every cahracter,it's still fun though. You can unlock Super Sonic as well and many more characters.

A very addicting and fun game. But it is pretty hard. Shoot and run seems boring,but it is'nt in this game.

Vectorman 2:5/5
Alot cooler then the first one. It's much easier and funer. The Shoot and Run action is still the same.

Overall, this is a great collection. But I wish it inclded Knuckles Chaotix, I really wanted to find more out about Vector and those guys. But you should still buy this. And the artwork seems to get cooler and cooler as you unlock it. Buy this game today.

I bought this in blockbuster, for like, $500 pesos (same as $50 dollars) and it's so awesome!! I've been a sonic fan ever since sonic 3D blast came out for PC and it was great. Right now, I'm like 12 years old and I still love all of the sonic games! (especially the originals that started everything, thank god sega made compilations for GC) I bought this one only cause it had Sonic CD and Sonic the fighters, because I wanted to see how was a sonic game based on fighting and because everybody talks about sonic CD being the best sonic game there is(including amy's debut and the intro and ending movies!!!) Anyways, I have SA2:B, SADX, Sonic mega collection, Sonic heroes, SA,2,3 and Sonic battle. (oh and this one too) Anyway, here are the ratings for each game.

Sonic the fighters:
After playing sonic CD, you might like to play this game, because its so cartoony and cheesy, like when you use the scissor punch, their heads flatten!!(LOL) Especially the foot crush, the horse kick AND the disarming!!!(I play it only for fun and even when I'm angry or sad)Fang, Bean and Bark ROCK!!
Graphics: 9.5
Fun: 10
Time:(how long it takes you to beat the game)8.5 (pretty average for a fighting game)
I would like to play the original one, although the Z button here is adapted to PKB.(arcade)

Sonic CD:
Surely, it is what I was expecting to play, it so awesome! Especially the time warp thingy, past, present and future have their own style of music and they're quite different. My favorite stage was wacky workbench and metallic madness. (sonic is SOOO cute when they shrink him!)I didn't like amy, though. When you save her, she comes running to Sonic and hugs him! The US soundtrack rocks, (sonic boom)and the intro and last movies are very cool, lot of high speed action, perfectly describes sonic. I really liked the part where you have to race against metal sonic.
Graphics: 20!! (if you mix the normal sonic sprite and the movies, its awesome!)
Fun: 8.5 (you could some times get sick of it and want to throw it away.)
Time: 7.0 (you can take a lot of time finishing this one, I finished like in 3 days)

Sonic R:
Best sonic racing game EVER played. (well, I'll have to check out Sonic Riders before I rate this one) I love the music, the stages, the characters and getting both the tokens and the chaos emeralds! In short, I love all of it. Even though it takes a little bit of time to unlock Super Sonic and the other secret characters, (Egg robo sucks, don't use it) it's really cool. Super Sonic is really fast. Get all of the chaos emeralds and you'll unlock him. He can even fly over water!
Graphics: 9.5
Fun: 100!!! (It rocks!!)
Time: 7.5(It's really easy to beat, even for a sonic game)

Sonic Triple Trouble:
Kinda fun, IF you have a saved game file, if not, it's absolutely boring. It doesn't give off that much attention actually, because I wanted to fight against Fang the Sniper, but it's real slow and you always seem to get stuck in the last stages.
Graphics: 6.5 (so-so)
Fun: 7.2
Time: 5.2 (it's not good)

Sonic the hedgehog 2:
It's really cool for a GG sequel and it's even better than Sonic the hedgehog. I haven't finished the game because I don't have enough space for it, but it still cool. I like the plot saying that Tails has been kidnapped by Dr. Eggman.
Graphics: 9.5 (good for a GG game)
Fun: 9.0 (cause in the 2nd stage there are some things that help you fly and I'm not good at that, and so I can't get to the other side)
Time: ?

Sonic Spinball:
It sucks. It's one of the sonic games I've never played and never will. You're really slow compared to the genesis version,(it's way much better than this one)and if you could imagine sonic as a normal pinball ball, it would be a plain and normal game. Nothing to do with the sonic games. DON'T play this, EVER.
Graphics: 4.5
Fun: 0.0 (it really sucks)

Tails' Skypatrol:
It's great. I can't believe this one only was available in Japan! Even though Tails kinda bumps almost into everything the whole time, it's fun and cute.(his little ring!)I'll warn you that, in some occasions, you get REALLY stuck, no kidding, like in the darkcastle area.
Graphics: 10
Fun: 9.2 (parts you get stuck)
Time: 9.9 (I would like it to have less parts getting stuck and it would be perfect)

Tails Adventures:
It rocks for a GG game! Who would've thought of putting in little tiny items you takewith you to help you out(especially th remote robot) and actually puttignin Tails' house! I'd say it's a little bit like RPG games, because in some ocassions, you have to use the right thing to get past through.
Graphics: 10
Fun: 9.7 (Some bosses are hard)
Time: 7.8 (too slow)

Sonic Drift 2:
It's better that the original one, and it has fang, amy and metal sonic in it! It's also much more fun than the other one, more extense "worlds" and more challenging. And it's really easy to win if you know which character suits you and how to take on those curves.
Graphics: 10 (really good for a mini kart racing game)
Fun: 9.8
Time: 9.4 (good for a kart racing game, but still to fast)

Vectorman:
Even though it doesn't have to do nothing with the sonic games, it's kinda cool.
Graphics: 10 (they're awesome, especially the animation)
Fun: 6.7
Time: 1.0 (too long)

Vectorman 2:
Way much better than the other one. More stages, transformations and stuff.
Graphics: 10
Fun: 7.8
Time: 1.0 (and again, too long)

Over all, I give this game a 10, if i could give it more it would be a 100! (not including vectorman and sonic spinball)
And it really gets you going with the museum, because every day you have new stuff to unlock, like videos, demos, and cool pics of sonic!!

Sonic Gems pretty much encompasses the odd period and quasi growth of the sonic games that would come in the future. The games on this collection are and sodds but some offer hints of what would we be derived from them. Sadly The games showcased the shortcomings of the systems they were showcased on as well. Sadly Sonic Cd, i anticpated it from had seen it from my youth but never played, but sadly it defiently doesnt feel like it was made by the creators of the sega gensis sonics, the games plus is the obvious showcase of cd quality music (ala Sega CD), and the levels in game in shear size are pretty hugw, but the game is plagued by short and horribley concepted level designs and easy bosses, The time traveling feature becomes an anoyance rather than an intersting feature and had unintentional representation of the system that harnesed it.The next game Sonic Fighters was a straight port from the arcade...so replay is very limited, the fighting is Vitrua Fighter rip with a sonic twist,And the fighting itself can be challenging but only in hard and hardest mode.Since its an arcade game it doesnt have the meat of a console fighter, theres no unlockable chrachters,or hidden extras for beating the game. Replay value comes souly with versus mode....so better have a friend along to get any milage off this one.The third game Sonic R was a sonic on-foot racing game for Saturn which proves to showcase the modern race elements that would be seen on Sonic Adventure. The games is pretty bare bones but unlike Sonic Fighter its not an arcade game, so has extras for winning if very few. its a pretty generic racer all unto itself, Theres unlockable charachters and one unlockable track. but the game only has slightly more replay value then the pervious two, like the former, msot the gameplay meat is off two player mode.The Game Gear games here are pretty much scattershot variations of the sonic the hedgehog platformers of their mother system. Some fair fine (Sonic 2,sonic tripple trouble) some dont make any sense being here (sonic pinball) and some just plain out suck (the 2 Tails games). For a nostalagic trip back, this collection doesnt fare as well as the Mega collection Gems feels pretty much like A B-sides and Rarities to MegaCollections Best of suite. I sometimes wish they picked better b-sides (ala Game Gear) but maybe theres hope for another collection...who knows

This is one of the best games I have ever played not only those it let you play 3 rare games but it also lets you play the game gear games and Victor Man1 and 2. Let me tell you about all the games.

Sonic The Fighters 10/10

I played this about a year ago in a arcade but it was called Sonic Cmapinship there. The game was about whe Dr.Robonik bulids the death egg 2 and it must be dystroyed. Tails bulids a ship but the bad news is that it can only hold on person. The gang holds a fighting tourtment to see who can win it?

The Good:
This game has excellent graphics and each person comes along with there owen spcial move to use. The game really takes fighting to the next level and is also crated by the pepole who made Virtula Fighter! The game also features 2 exclussive Sonic charecter Beat the? and Bark The Palor Bear.

The Bad:
Sometimes the charecters use a attack over and over agian making it anyoing and the fighters can get hard sometimes.

Sonic R 7/10

Dr Robonik is holding the grand Prix and everyone is invited Sonic and his friends tag along for the race too!

The Good:
This is no car racing game your actully runing at high spped and you can jump over other racers and unlock other racers including super sonic!

The Bad:

Each level they play music that sounds terbile and you can't use any special weapons. Also when the charecters run it looks very un realstic. I owen the orginal Sega Satrun version and they changed some of the title screen a little bit.

Sonic CD 9/10

Dr.Robonik has bulit the deathegg and is about too blow up the planet mobuis. However Sonic is here to stop him but he has kidnapped Amy Rose and has a surprise just wating for Sonic?

The Good:
The Game has to music videos and is really cool. They also have some 3d parts in the game and you can go to the future and past.

The Bad:

Some of the levels are anoying at times and you can't play as anyone else.

This is a pretty good game and the game gear games are good too but this is a really good buy defintily a great game!
