This game is pathetic!!!

This game does not live up to the movie. If you have seen the movie and are expecting the fun, over-the-top sword-slashing action in the movie you will be severely disappointed. In the game your movements are short, never vary, and just don't look real. The kicks are absolutely the worst I have ever seen in a video game. The sword fighting is barely amusing for 5 minutes, and then repeats itself over and over again until you want to just kill yourself and spare the suffering. The enemy A.I. is pathetically easy, making for no more than a 3 hour game. The level design is boring, with the only puzzles involving opening doors with easily found levers. You just go from room to room killing people as you go. The levels all look basically the same, and this is the worst level design I have ever seen. This game is boring and easy. If you want a good game go for metroid prime, splinter cell, or ghost recon. The scorpion king is trash.

Fun change of pace.

This is by any means not in contention to be a Game of the Year, still I found it a fun distraction game. Unlike some of the reviewers, I have actually played the game (and no I'm not trying to sell a copy). This is the type of game that the average gamer will beat in a day or two, so you might want to rent before your buy. Because of it's bargain used price range I went ahead and took a chance on buying it.

The Scorpion King has graphics that could be compared to a great PSOne title quality. I thought the level maps looked good, but were small and character movement is the old, slightly jerky motion with moderately detailed models. This game is a button mashing fighting adventure that tries to make use of an average combo using, combat system. Enemy AI is moderate and serves it's purpose, groups of enemies strike in mass. Enemies vary from swordsmen, guard dogs, giants (the average NBA player), to trolls and archers. The bosses look pretty good in this game and require alittle puzzle solving to defeat (like your average Zelda boss). I find it to be a fun change of pace from some of my more intense games. It's not great but it's worth atleast a weekend rent.

What an awesome game!

I got tired of Quake III and decided to pick this game for my Gamecube. Boy does this thing rock the graphics are awesome and the gameplay just rules! This is the best 50 dollars that I've spent in a while.

The game is simply monotomous, meaning that you do the same thing over and over in the whole game: you enter a room, kill everyone, the door unlocks, you go through it, you enter a new room, kill everyone, the door unlocks, etc etc. There is no fun in that.

Repetitive, Repetitive, Repetitive

At first it was ok. You got to be the scorpion king and learn to kick bad guy butt while also dishing out insults. I would enjoy it because you would get weapons such as swords and daggers. You'd then battle "ancient evils" in the name of good. These ancient evils would be evil gods and monsters, and their minions would be men, snakes, and dogs (rabid dogs, not puppies).
What I didn't like about this game was that the last level was just like the first. You always had the same weapons, techniques, and the minions would always act the same! They all just staggered back when they died and always seemed to come out of nowhere! Then the bosses weren't even historically accurate, and it didn't take a historian to figure that out! The fist boss was Anubus and another was medusa, so the creators just threw in some Greek gods with the Egyptian ones! So to sum it up:
OK:
The graphics (on a scale of 1 to ten; 4)
The music (it was ok, but not awe in spiring)
BAD:
The weapons (there were only four different kinds, and one type of shield)
The bosses (Egyptian and Greek Gods DON'T mix!)
The levels (the same thing over and over)
The minions (they always acted the same, like they just had different skins or something)

I wouldn't recommend buying this game for someone with experience, but if you just got a gamecube and the price is right ($5 or less) then maybe consider it.

Buyer BEWARE!

I'll be honest: I haven't played this game, nor will I ever. But the reviews I have read of this dreadful title do not justify what was previously written here. Lest anyone be fooled into purchasing this game, here is a quote from a respected source:

"I am tired. I am frustrated. I don't ever want to play a game this bad again. I don't want this to be funny; I just want it to be over. I simply wasn't prepared for how miserable the next few hours of my life would be when I put this game in... "

"The opening? A picture of "The Rock" with a mono version of 'I Stand Alone' playing in all its glory. The first cut scene? Compression so bad you have to wonder if they used a program to send the file through email. The audio in said cut scene? GBA. The in-game models? You know what the refs and cameramen look like in NFL2K3? The ones the developers spent NO time with? You got it. The animation of said characters? When "The Rock" jumps, it will remind you of Mario...from the original Super Mario Bros. on the NES. Straight up and floating."

"But none of this prepares you for just how bad this game is. The entire game consists of button mashing against the same 2-3 guys in a room until they die, and then going through the door that opens up because they're dead."

Take this however you want. Just consider renting this before you pay $... for it. You have been warned.

This game by far was the easiest game i have ever played. I beat the game in about 3 hours. Wow i usually have a harder time peelign a banana then beating this game. No offense Vivendi Universal, but I would call this game mediocre. The graphics are'nt overly impresive either. The only thing that was a bit enjoyable was the arsenal of weapons, although i was hoping for more of them. To sum it up i was horribly dissapointed.
