This is a fun game!!! But let me tell you that previous versions of Mario Kart had more fun than this one. You have new characters, true. You have new cars, true. You have new items, true. And you can play in the same Kart wit a friend, true. So what's the problem? I'm not so sure, but I'm missing the old version very much!! The old one had 5 stars from me.

This is a fun game but if you have played the classic Mario Kart this one does not have as many of the classic stages and characters. The good thing about it is you can play head to head or by yourself. Each character has their own and unique powers and power-ups. We give it a thumbs up!

There are some games that are just classics. They can survive successive transitions to the next generation of consoles without much change, and Mario Kart for the Gamecube is fundamentally no different than Mario Kart on the SNES. Sure, the graphics are better, and there might be a tweak here or there, but the game is the same - and that's why it's great. After all, if it ain't broke...
The two cool new features that this game does include is the addition of an extra character on your Kart and specialized items for each one. This means that (1) you can have twice as many items at a time, and (2) selecting a character is now based on special item, in addition to speed and handling. Otherwise, Mario Kart is just the same brilliant game it always was.

Even though I'm not exactly a racing game fan, Mario carts makes it fun! After picking characters with special items and cars with specific catagories to make a team to win. I really like the fact that you can use items to knock over other players to your advantage, which really puts strategy into the game. This is probubly a bestseller for the gamecube for many to enjoy.

The game is very fun for awhile, especially if you have a friend or sibling to play with. The disappointment is with the battle mode. It just doesn't live up to previous Mario Kart games. It just seems Nintendo left a lot out of this one. However, there are unlockable characters, karts, courses, and tournaments. The 2 character team up is very unique, and the best part of playing with friends - one of you drives while the other focuses on items until you decide to switch. It maybe would have been better if the player in the back of the kart had a view facing backwards as to see oncoming racers, but it is fun to criticize the driving of a sibling. I recommend the game to any Mario Kart fan, but only at a less then $40 price.

This game rarely leaves my gamecube. Mario Kart dosen't have a point or story, but that dosen't take the fun out of it! You can have up to four players interact with each other in the game. You can choose 49 character combinations and choose 7 Go-karts [You can win more Karts in Grand Prix mode]. The characters go from Bowser to baby Mario. There are 12 race tracks with a certain theme like Mushroom City and Dry Dry Desert. Now I'll explain the detail. The graphics are very well done and the sound is clear. You can hear all the phrases the characters say. Now about gameplay. You can choose Grand Prix mode, Versus mode and Battle mode. Grand Prix is when you and maybe some friends can race against the other characters controlled by the gamecube. Versus is when 2 players to 4 players can race each other without gamecube controlled racers. Finally there is Battle mode. This is another multi-player mode when you can blast each other with bobombs or steal jewels withou t getting attacked. That's it. Sorry about the rambling. If you're thinking about buying A GC game get Mario Kart: Double Dash!

I just bought the game cube for my daughter. She and I both played this game several times over the weekend. We had a great time with it, but I realized later that it became a bit boring. It does have great graphics and lots of game options, but difficult to maneuver bombs while driving. My daughter is better at it than I am. (figures!) I recommend this game to young players and beginners, it does give hours of entertainment. If you're an older player, this may not be the game for you.
