Pure Old-School Action

If your into the style of shoot-em up game as Hitman 2 or anything others that focus on the enemy killing instead of puzzle solving, I recommend this game. There isnt all that much backtracking, and its main factor is fun.

Very practical and overt, takes place in New York City in a world where the Soviet Union thrived from their defeat of Germany to end WW2, using the Atom bomb. The Soviet Unior lived on throught the 20th century and into the 21st, where the communist party invades Manhattan, claiming to free it from Americas corrupt regime. You are a local citizen who like many others, forms their own resistance.

Complete various missions involving objectives and strategies, including blowing a gas station, freeing captured prisoners and all out assaults on other locations. Recruit men to your team and command them to attack, regroup or defend. The AI is very next generation, and the enemies follow their own set of cunning strategies.

A very action packed and innovative game.

I bought this game not fully knowing what to expect, but to my surprise, I was EXTREMELY satisfied. I don't know why some people keep saying the game is too short, or they finished in 2 days. I can only assume that those people did not play on the Revolutionary level, as I did. True gamers only play EXTREME!

On Revolutionary level, it takes nearly half your clip to kill one person, unless you shoot them in the head, which is obviously an instant kill. The A.I. for your soldiers is pretty decent. I found that even though I tell them to follow, when danger arrives, they spring into action, going so far as to chase down the enemy. Their ability gets better later on in the game also, as you'll find that some of them are equipped with liquor bombs. This helps when dealing with those blasted armored soldiers with the heavy machine guns.

The only problems I have with this game are the hand to hand combat. All you have is a wrench. You'd think after months of fighting, Chris could learn how to fight. The computer soldiers are like trained assassins, with some of them actually doing rolls or charge attacks. At one point, I saw one of my soldiers being strangled to death by a shaded soviet that snuck up behind him. Speaking of sneaking up, the stealth on this isn't done well either. Countless times I tried sneaking up on people, and somehow they saw me anyway, even from behind walls!

Another problem is that Chris doesn't do a good job of avoiding death by his own hand. Several times I've gotten myself killed because a liquor bomb or grenade was thrown into the wall I was hiding behind instead of out the window or over the railing. He should have more sense than that.

As for the music, it is truly epic. There's a Soviet score with chorus and all that plays at the beginning and throught the game. I have to say that the overall music in this game coupled with the dialogue of your soldiers makes you feel like you are truly at war. They will have you reminiscing about the Aliens movie with lines like "Game over, man," and "What are we gonna do know?"

Finally, the secret Liberty Island level is pure crap. You will need to cheat at this point, as they actually start you off with only your wrench to fight with. This part of the game is truly a war against all odds, as the Russians hit you with tons of soldiers, aerial bombs, one chopper, and four heavily armored soldiers. The fight is so intense, that you'll see tens of dead freedom fighters sprawled all around the wreckage of lady Liberty.

Hint: Don't swim in the ice water for too long, or you'll freeze to death. And you won't get a warning about it either.

War In America

I saw the reviews of this game and how good they were, but was still wondering if I should get the game because of the look of it. I had a extra $50 so I bought it and tried it out. Well I was wrong this game is awsome. I beat the game in a full day I just didn't stop. I played Monday from 4:00 to 11:00 and then Tuesday from 6:00 till 12:00 so it definetly has quite some replay value. The graphics are great and very fluid nothing hitches or glitches while playing. The voice acting and sounds of guns were top notch 100%. The game has awsome controls and great level design. You also have a branching story line were in order to get past the snipers you must get c4 in another level which is easy to access. Here is how it is designed you have a hide out place which is underground. When there you get to talk to your friends nd get free weapons of your choice. You play the game buy looking at the map on the table which shows you for instance Fire Station and Hospital. The c4 is at the Hospital and the snipers are on the Fire Station roof. You must blow up the Fire Station and raise the flag in order to continue to the next map which has new objectives. The game is not easy in parts sometime snipers,mini guns,heavly shielded Russians,tanks,helicopters,and bombs are just a few of the things that can easily kill you. The games shooting setup is great also just plain perfect. The game is worth $50 and the reviews are right on actually I would rate it higher. I would give the game a 9.5/10 it is great.Highly reccomended for a Christmas gift.

OMG this game rocks. I picked it up at Gamestop a while back for 18 bucks. Its well worth the money! U play as Chris, a plummer. But when the Soviets attack its time 4 u to spring into action. mow em' down with assult rifels, submachine guns,and shotguns. Blow up the Artillary with Rocket Launchers and C4s. and if u run out of primary ammunition just get out a pistol or Relover. U will always have your monkey wrench to open the sewers to get to the rebal base. U gotta get this! U wont regret it.

This is an amazing game. Its on of the only 3rd person shooters that actually is a good game. It has an awsome story line. Its challangeing, definitly not to easy. Very fun! You get to command your group, over all an exellent game!!! Buy it today!!

Heck ya! This May be the greatist "fight on foot" stratigec war game ever! This game has you as a plumer in the beggining then your beautiful country was attacked by the soviets. Ya sure we would be thinking "hey we saved your aces in world war 2" but you should kick there big asin buts any way.

In more smarter words this game is easy to play is tons of fun and has an awsome mylti-player set. Do not take this game seriously events never happened and hopefully never will russians are not hostile to our country. We are peaceful (right now anyways).

now this is the best game ive ever played oh yea on one levl i getta let my guy shoot while i go crazy with a monkey wrench dude smack smack!!!i like to use grenades and well i have 1 and 1 problem alone tanks and armored cars way to hard to blow up on the level where u take the post office i couldnt destroy the tank and worse my guys all were stupid and went CHARGE!!!! and attacked the tank head on i only had 1 med pack so i got the wat i think is the best guy the guy with air pump shot gun (: but that was when i played the demo for the first time now i have the full version me and my bros play multiplayer alot we play capture the flag and stuff alot but i do the campaghn plent so i say this is super fun super super fun so my shout of joy for this game and its moto FREEDOM man FREEDOM from oppresions of the soviets!!!! Yea!!!! i have all 12 guys now and we are on liberty island i make 3 take cover here and there meaning 6 while 6 come with me and my defenders get killed by a chopper so i have absoultely no chance at all..........FREEDOM i on 2 days ago though!!!!!

Freedom fighters is sooo sweeeeeet you can LEAD up to 12 freedom fighters in to battle. The game is about invading russin troops in to manhattan. SO WHY do I love this game well it is becuz how fun this game is I seem to love the 3rd person action and shooting at stuff ther are a lot of guns here is 1 machine gun. The game is t for teens cuz the violence. so ther you have it why i love the game.

This is a great game. Tons of weapons (Sniper Rifle is my personal favorite), well designed levels and a great story. The graphics are very nice as well. The controls are also exellent. It is easy target your enemies or command your troops to defend or attack a position. There is also a multi-player mode, but no cooperative mode. The only negative aspect is the length of the game. You can beat it in a weekend.

I definately reccommend this game, though you may want to wait till the price comes down.
