Extreme G3 is an absolutely awesome game, you ride on turbo-charged motorcycles that look like they're straight out of Akira. It is the fastest racing game ever, and it moves incredibly smooth at 60 fps on the Game Cube. The graphics are superb and the level design is great, it has a beautifully rendered realistic look. Some levels look like the futuristic city in Blade Runner, while others are out in the desert or in the middle of the ocean. The techno soundtrack is also very good and adds to the futuristic feel of the game perfectly. The gameplay is top notch and the controls are right on (the game cube controller is truly excellent, especially for a racing game like this). The high-powered motorcycles zoom through the courses very realistically. There are also a variety of weapons to equip on your motorcycle, which is really cool and adds an extra dimension to the gameplay. Also- The Game Cube version of XG3 features four player mode (which the PS2 version doesn't), and also offers much improved frame rate / graphics over the PS2 version. It moves at a constant 60 frames per second, which looks absolutely silky smooth, even in multiplayer!
I recommend XG3 to anyone with a Game Cube. It is one of the finest games to be released thus far.
The best Futuristic Techno Racer Ever

I had thought that Wipeout was by far the best racing series I had ever played up until now. I'm a serious fan of the futuristic techno psygnosis design, and I had honestly believed that there was nothing that could top it. In fact I purchased a PS2 almost solely based on the belief that Sony was going to release Wipeout Fusion shortly after the launch (as they claimed). Unfortunately that never occured. Fortunately, however, Extreme G3 was available for the Cube when I went shopping to get games.
Let me just say this. Crucial art direction, track layout, and musical direction personnel from Psygnosis went to Acclaim and played crucial parts in the development of Extreme G3. It definitely shows. Extreme G3 conveys the most intense sense of speed and nausea in any racing game ever. You don't know what speed is until you upgrade your engine to the 1000G model and power up the turbo boost in a loop on Oceania or Megalopis.
Or when you siphon off enough energy near the finish line from one of your opponents in the lead so that you can boost yourself into the lead and win at the last possible second.
This game is about speed, super speed, sonic boom sound barrier busting speed, and even more speed. The control is ridiculously tight, and the gamecube controller is absolutely *perfect*. It's so good that I basically use the default controller setup scheme.
This game is easily one of the best racing games of all time. The weapons system requires intelligence in deployment, i.e., do you use the defensive leech mechanism, or do you drop bombs behind you to slow your opponents down. Do you fire heat seeking rockets at them, or use your shield energy to boost past them. It is a highly intelligent racing game that I appreciate. I find myself these days doing things that in the past I would not have thought of.
One of these involves a tactic of actually slowing down so that an opponent can pass, just so that I can activate the leech weapon and siphon off energy if I know that a loop is coming up soon and I'll need all the turbo boost I can store. Simple things such as that that change the dynamic of your standard fare racing game are greatly appreciated.

XG3 is a wonderful expansion to my collection of gc games... there arent quite as many good multiplayer games for gc as i would want so far, and when i started playing xg3 i was amazed at the edge-of-your-seat feel of going up to 700 mph on a futuristic motorcycle and have the ability to blast other players with railguns, EMP's, heat seeker missiles, mines and more. the single player part of this game is also encridible, you choose a league and the better you do in each race the more money u get, the more money u have the better weapons u can get. there are about 10 extremely detailed and different levels, and 4 difficulties that make this game a real challenge single player. BUT WHAT MAKES THIS GAME VERY DIFFERENT FROM MOST OF THE OTHER GAMES I HAVE PLAYED IS the 2-player team setting. in this setting, u are on a team with another person, and you both race on all the levels, making this game have a 2-player single player setting. even if you bought gamecube to play games just by yourself, i still recommend this game to any1 w/ a gc... its a must. i also highly recommend super smash bros melee, another great game.

This is an excellent racing game with lovely techno-music, detailed levels, lots of weapong to trounce your opponents, very high-speed racing, and a great multiplayer mode. Plus, it only takes 3 blocks of memory for ONE file. If you are a apst fan of the Extreme G titles, this is a must-have for the GameCube.
This Game is definitely worth buying!!!

If you like racing games at all, then you will like this game. I would describe it as Road Rash on crack. The track designs are amazing and even though there are only ten tracks they do not get old. The multi player options are awsome. The career mode is extreemly addictive. This is by far the best game cube game that i have played. ... buy this game!!!!

I was spending the night at a friends house. When we went to go rent a game he rented Extreme G3 racing. I thought that the game would suck. But i was wrong. When we started playing i was immediately hooked.
The levels are gorgeously designed and the colors are vibrant and beautiful. You never get the feeling that your doing the same thing again. The courses are so unique. Some provide challengs such as many turns and loops, while other require you to use your weaponry more.
The co-op mode is a great twist. In most racing games, you only race against your friend. In this mode, not only do you and your friend get to work together, but you get to actually play the game. Race against other racers instead of just each other. The power-ups provide a twist in the gameplay. But as you get the power-ups, so do your opponents, making you have to think about what you get.
This game is one of those games that highlights the excellence of the racing genre. It is perfection, in video game form.
The best game I ever found--by accident!!!

I got this game because it had a picture of a girl on the cover, and I figured my daughter would like it. Well, I of course had to try it out, and lo and behold, I found the best game I have ever owned. I play tons of PC games, and I have every game worth getting, as well as owning about 26 GameCube games. This is a game that tests more than your ability to manipulate a controller, as it requires some intelligent decision making. I am not really that good at most games, and usually plod along on the easy levels, but this game, although it does not have easy normal and hard levels, is almost intuitive. Despite the fact that there is a bit of a learning curve, it is fun all the way.
The scenery is splendid, and I don't just mean graphically, either, as the futuristic settings are compelling.
I am 39 years old, and reach for this game daily. Of all the games I own this is by far the most fun to play, with a real draw to play it again. Best of all, you don't have to trudge through levels with all sorts of hidden stuff to discover. If this is your first game, or if you everyone except this one, get it.
By the way, forget getting it fot the kids. Once an adult tries it out, the kids will be sitting around watching you play.
This game rates an 11 on a scale of 1 to 10.
It's Great!!!!

As it's name suggests, Acclaims supersonic racer pulls some "Extreme G's" with garavity-defying courses and insanely fast driving. When it comes to racing games that convey a sense of speed, EG3 is the leader of the pack, and gamers will feel like they're practically pinned against the chair when they fire up a turbo boost aboard one of the bikes of the future. Excellent track design guarantees that every race is like a roller coaster ride, complete with topsy-turvy roadways that twist upside down and climb or drop at 90 degree angles. The responsive controlls are vice tight, you can press R and L as hard as you need to lean onto a turn. The third installment of XG brings back the heavy artillery, so you can blast rivals while the addition of changing weather will keep you on your toes. The white-knuckle action blurs by at avery smooth 60fps, and the tempo is matched only by the grooves of the games techno music, which thumps in Dolby Surround. The ultracoolsci-fi chic of the high-gloss graphics complements the tunes, but Acclaim goes a little overboard with the games hipper-that-thou aesthetic since the futuristic gauges and tunes are so styliezed that it's hard to figure out what they mean. But who has time to stare? EG3 is unbelievably fast, and it's a ride highly recommended for racing fans.
