Great Digimon Fun

Digimon Rumble Arena wasn't the best digimon game, by far, but it was very good. I liked the gameplay especialy, and right behind comes the use of my favorite characters. Although the character selection for this game is kind of low, it has the main digimon from the first three seasons of the anime for sure.
The moves and character physics act differently enough to give this an extra star.
The graphics rocked, although it was flat 3d, it's colorful and the characters and backdrops move smoothly when playing. There are enough secrets to uncover for someone playing in spots, but if you try and beat it the first day you might accomplish this. I say you should get a friend or someone to play with, otherwise you are stuck grinding the computer players to a pulp, which is very intertaining actually, but if you have a friend it's even better *grins*.

In case people are wondering, you do digivolve after collecting enough of a certain blue energy laying around after you hit an oponent, and it goes from their rookie form to the champion form to the mega form, so it DOES skip ultra, this means no metal greymon or weregarurumon, but it's all good, makes it easier to find my WarGreymon and all. You can even get omnimon and diaboromon as secret characters, as well as dark digimon reincarnations such as black augumon...he's my personal favorite, easy to use, and you get the all holy Dark WarGreymon through some work...heheh.

Well, I recommend this game to anyone that likes or loves or enjoys super smash brothers for gamecube or nintendo 64, it has a very similar game control, just a little bit simpler, the attacks are NOT hard at all, very simplistic easy enough for even a 9 year old if you ask me. I also recommend this game to anyone that likes digimon and wants to try a new genre aproach for the series.

Over all>>
1 star for gameplay
1 star for simplicity and difficulty ballance
1 star for the digimon apearances
1 star for some awesome graphical attacks and movements
1 star for it being smooth, having some good digimon voice overs, and in general everything else that I liked in the above review.

A really fun fighter and multiplayer game

This game is a 2D side-scroller with 3D models and 2D designs like Super Smash Bros Melee. The single-player game is somewhat short for each character with no real ending just unlockables, but you have to play through the game with each to get all the unlockables. No story for this game, just pure uninterrupted melee fighting. Digivolving is key to being an effective fighter in this game, as digivolving increases your attack power and the effectiveness of your attacks. This game allows for a significant number of combos, many, many more than Super Smash Bros Melee for the Game Cube, which is also great in a similar way with some key differences. In Digimon Rumble Arena 2, you cannot save yourself so easily after being hurled off a ledge, whereas in Smash Bros saving yourself after being hurled off a ledge is much easier; however, in Digimon Rumble Arena 2 that is usually not an issue since your footing is better and you are not sent sailing away time and time again. Most typically you are KOd. The characters have very wonderful slogans as they perform certain attacks towards each like fighters of the older days, which I think is fantastic like the aryuken and shinryuken of RYU and Ken. The fighting strategies are simple yet addictive and get more complex as you digivolve. The best part of this game is that when you lose you will be asking your friends for a rematch and it will continue on and on just one more match until you both are tired or have to go. I bought this game for $40 brand new at a store and it was well worth it. In my opinion, in terms of the fun factor it is slightly better than Smash Bros, although Smash Bros has maybe slightly better 3D character models.
